looking at AF2 gears. only 3/10 is +Spell Speed. the rest is + Crit. This got me wondering how we gonna gear up? Should i go stack Spell Speed by combine 3 AF2 pieces with darklight?
btw, all darklight gears are + Spell Speed.

Hmm no, since healing can crit too this is intended. As you know the primary healing skill from SCH doubles the effect on crits.
I'd say crit is more effective on a scholar due to shield effects.
Our spike heal, Lustrate, is instant cast anyway so spell speed doesn't matter.
im still a little bit confused about DET. it doesnt increase MY HEALING DONE, but increase INCOMING HEALING TO ME. can anyone clarify this?
Spell speed doesn't seem to work horizontally with GCD reduction. It will always be beneficial to have but it to pale in comparison to crit. As mentioned above, our class heals are very reliant on crit and many of our skills are "off GCD" anyway. Generally speaking you will want to stack higher item level gear, we don't even really have much of a choice in stats atm.
anyone got confirmation on how DET works on healing potency?
71 det increase healing by like 10-15hp physick.
I would chose Crit over Speed if given the choice.
I would choose crit hands down. If adloquium crits its an obscene shield. From my understanding the way it works is: Crit heal number x2 = shield. So if you crit for 600 on adloquium thats a 1200 shield to my understanding. At least thats the way it feels when my tank doesn't take any damage for a large period of time after the fact.
Edit: Not to mention spell speed doesn't give all that much of a bonus. I was however going to test how much spell speed I could stack and then use it with selenes' spell speed buff since it gives us 30% more. The higher number we have the greater the bonus is and it might end up being good enough to merit taking but I doubt it would outweigh the mega crits from adloquium.
yeah the same with me, i will go crit :p for the fun of seeing high crit's and shield :b
Mind or determination? both says that grand healing potencya but det give you magic dmg potency so a +5 mind = +5 det? let me know if its the same or not because I see DET materia skyrocketing on my server.
I believe there was a video about it where someone tested a bunch of numbers and found that DET as a stat gives much less of a single bonus but quite a bit of a total bonus.
Edit: Ok so here is the video for what it is worth, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AykXVEJo0Ps
This is a mistake. If Aldo isn't up on the tank, you should always be casting it. I've had no trouble with MP doing 2:1 Aldos.
Det effects different classes differently, but is always inferior to the classes main stat (MND for us).
Spell Speed is trash. 10 points of Spell Speed give you a .01 drop in casttime. It takes around 13 points of Crit to give +1% crit chance. Assuming you added 100 points of either stat, 8.5% crit is way better than .1 reduction in cast time.
actualy... by mat 0,1 casting/gcd reduction is equal to an increase of your healing output by 1/25 =4%... 8,5 crit chance increase your healing efficency by 4,25% ... now the extra benefit of adloquim is an added benefit that tip the sacle in favor of crit for SCH... while proc on cast for whm tip the scale in favor of SS... but taking them out of the class specific context the amount of increased healing is almost the same ^^
PS: for extended mat since I could have done some mistake... in that case feel free to correct me...
o,1 reduction of gcd is equal to 1 more spell every 25... that can be transformed for semplification in 4 more spell every 100 = 4% more spell casted in the same amount of time that is equal to 4% more healing output
8,5% crit rate with a crit efficiency of 150% means that out of 100 spell 8,5 of them will have an incresed efficency of 50% that can be traslated in the effect of 4,25 additional spell effect so a 4,25% more healing output
also just to be safe... I don't exactly know the exact crit value needed for 1% crit chance increase... but for SS it is 10,5 per 0,1 sec of gcd (the casting time is a % but since most healing skill have a casting time inferior to the gcd what limit are casting is the gcd rather than the casting time... so assuming your 13 point per crit% from 105 point u will get 0,1 sec reductino of gcd against 8,07 crit chance... rather 8,5 that by the previous illustrated math will result in an exact 4% healing efficiency increment for both SS and Crit% ^^
stat by themself are perfectly on line with each other... what u get as an extra out of them is what makes u chouse between one and the other ^^
Thanks for doing the math! :)
The main difference for me is, in the case of a WHM, there's always the threat of going OOM. In that case, it's superior to have your spells hit harder than to be able to cast more spells! Also, if you're in a fight where you may not be able to chain cast and your spells need lots of oomph (Titan HM during AOE phase for example), being able to get a second heal out faster doesn't help if your target is dead! ^^;
As you mentioned, for SCH it's a lot more important to have the crit since a crit Aldo turns it into a 1050 potency heal as opposed to a 900 potency heal without the doubling shield effect!
But, thanks to your math, I can retract what I say and instead say that the crit is only marginally better! Thank you! ^^
