Is there really no help for this, to sit around with this time sink is insane. as DPS to have to wait 40 to 50 minutes to get into a dungeon in order to progress the storyline.

level a tank ....wait time will be 1 min... it will always be much much longer for dps in such system, everyone wants to dps
Well - that's DPS for you. First of all - you don't really need to sit there and stare at the screen - that's why you have the DF - just sign up and go around doing some other stuff in game in the meantime (or even IRL). What also helps a lot to decrease the waiting times is to select all the languages instead of just the default one preselected in DF (if indeed youdn't mind being matched with player who might not speak your language).
it is kinda bad.
I here the wait times for healers and tanks is a lot less.
personally I just don't have the focus to try the duty finder as these jobs.
what I tend to do is pick up a lot of quests or leve's and throw the Duty finder on.
the only issue I have had is summoning my chocobo, instance quests and picking up duty finder content mid leve and having it auto fail.
Hi, there are a lot of DPS classes compare to Tank and Healers. so there is no way to speed up the duty finder waiting time.
You can form your own group, shouting, or with the help of Free Company or a Linkshell
Even having one more player in party with you will increase the chances of being joined by DF (unless indeed you're both DPS at which case it wouldn't do much difference).
I am really glad I am a tank. Any dungeon finder in any MMO is always going to have a slow wait time for DPS. No offense, but your the most expendable member of a party. A tank or healer leave or die, your in trouble. DPS goes down, well...you still have one more left. This of course will change with higher end dungeons where you need everyone alive or you lose. Like inSWTOR, if you failed to DPS a boss down in a certain amount of time, they would enrage and everyone would die. Other MMO's have that mechanic as well.
I doubt SE needs to do anything but wait until people invest in multiple classes so that they will level out and wait times reduces because of the increase in flexibility.
The only thing to do now is have patience whilst the game "normalises" in the first few months.
It has just released after all and there will inevitably be teething problems.
I load he DF, wait 2-3 seconds, I'm in as a DPS. But play times can adjust that time frame. Early morning hours in EST zone and I wait from 5-20 minutes, evening hours and weekends are no problem.
Become really good friends with a tank or healer and have them queue with you all the time. That's really the only way to shorten the queue's as DPS unfortunately.
I started as Lancer, but switched over to Gladiator after seeing how bad the wait times were. I don't regret it at all. Longest time I've waited for a queue was 5 minutes.
As mentioned before, entering que on the DF with either a Tank or Healer will significantly reduce your wait time. Find a friend and que up together!
Also, your preferred language also has a LOT to do with que times. The DF with automatically attempt to wait for party members with the same language for obvious reasons.
In the DF main menu (where you select the dungeon) the top right corner has your preferred language highlighted. You can also highlight the other 3 languages before joining que, this will greatly reduce your wait time on ques (a lot of people with different languages are on different servers due to the inability to create characters on the server they would like).
Do keep in mind that if you select the other languages you most likely WILL be qued up with people who do not understand anything you say. I wouldnt recommend this for your first attempt at a dungeon, but subsequent runs this should be acceptable. It will also afford you the opportunity to become familiarized with the built in language translator, it is a really fun part of the game being able to work with and talk with people who have a different native language.
I hope this little trick helps you out! (I typically see que times cut in half if not MORE when I do this)
OP you're lucky then. I'm haven't gotten into a dungeon in under 60 minutes. As a Dragoon it's so hard to find a dungeon that I don't even have my Chocobo and I'm lvl 31. The very fact I need dungeons with PUGs to even get my mount and use of the auction house is crazy.
I like using my WHM and PLD/MRD to access the dungeons faster and avoid long wait queues. The only drawback by using these classes that I have noticed is that there's a lot of pressure for these two classes since they can make or break the quest lol. If you're not a good healer or tank in such cases, the randoms you'll get paired will most likely bottleneck you or ragequit.
dont forget, a lot of people are fate farming, which also lowers the number of active tanks in the DF, tanks need to be more attractive to play and not so much as more rewarding, but less punishing, sadly people look at a bad pull on the tank and why they maybe havent marked, i play blm or wtm, and tend to lead the group especially with the marking and can guide the tank, groups need to be more supportive of each other then always look to the tank to do it all in that respect, tank doesnt mean group leader, they are just meat shields unless they aim to lead etc...
Shout for a group instead of using duty finder. This comes with the territory if you want to play the same class as the other bajillion players playing the game.
Even with a full group all set and ready we are waiting 40 mins everytime just to RESERVE a spot in the instance!!! >___<
