The "Greed" Mentality

That is the purpose of the greed button. It's to get an item that you have an alternative but completely valid use for besides wearing.

whats your point ? some had better roll on item that will go for seals? TBH only selfish one is you ... or do you wanna say that other ppl in your party dont deserve any reward for their efforts?

The whole purpose of greed button is to win an item that no one needs. If you need it then hit need other wise greed is up for anyone else just like most mmos.

It's fine, seriously.

Greedy people will get the items only if no one Needs it, and other greedy people have less points.

The button said "greed" so i don't understad why I can't be greedy.

If you want 100 company seals go run a single fate. People run these dungeons to gear up, rolling on good gear to hand in for company seals is ludicrous.

AK's accessory drops are particularly bad offenders. For some jobs there are a few that outperform Darklight. I can't believe people would consider taking them for 100 company seals.

If anyone needs an item to wear, need rolls take priority over greed. Greed rolls only apply if nobody rolls need, and to roll need you must be the appropriate class.

I really don't understand what you're getting at here. Are you saying people taking items nobody wants to wear for turn-ins is bad? You might want to stop playing multiplayer games if something like this bothers you.

It's totally inappropriate for you to have a roll to get that item that nobody else needed. It's wrong. Stop. Plz. I want it more.

Not everyone is one-class-onry.

"Need" in its current form is completely useless. Many people are pushed in to specific roles to fulfil party requirements - just because someone can't press the need button, doesn't mean that person doesn't need the item.

Oh, I get it. This is a "don't roll on MY item, because MY purpose for the item is better than yours!" topic. If you're not playing the class whose item just dropped, you are no better and no different than anyone else who is not playing that class. You do not deserve that item anymore than the other players in the group, regardless of what you want to do with the item.

What do you mean puch to a specific role? Is that with your LS or FC, you can talk and say what you want from the run. On the other hand, if it is using the DF then you are not push in any way you are free to choose the class you want to run with.

I think TC is crying about losing items that he wants it for his other classes. That means he's a greedy himself and he lost the greedy roll.

I don't think anyone wants to trade rare items for company seals, everyone will play every class eventually and they have all the right to take items for their future classes.

It means he's running dungeons as a tank but wants to roll Need on healer and DPS gear because he think he deserves it more than people who would turn in that gear for GC seals or keep it in their armoury for when they can use it.

first off. SE did it right, cause if they allowed anyone to roll need, regardless of class, ninja's would run wild. Second, need is for people who need that gear for the role they are playing and greed is for everyone else's agenda. what do you expect, people to pass and leave it in the chest, or are you that guy who calls prerogative on all plate gear cause your a Murader? You are putting words in my mouth, I have not suggested any specific changes to the loot system.

My only problem with people greeding is when Dragoons and lancers ask the tank not to roll need on scale armor meant for dragoons/lancers but it is bugged so the dragoon/lancer can't roll need on it and the tank rolls need anyways. In that case until SE fixes the bug the other should not roll greed on the scale armor that is listed for DRG/LNC use.

I'm not putting any words in your mouth, you yourself said that you want to take precedence for the off-class drops over people who would roll on it for their own off class or for GC turn ins. That's the very definition of greedy.

I took a gamble and lost, oh well.

Reading this post is now making me want to be greedier. I'm 50 all classes, and ARC and it's 2 jobs are my favorite jobs/class currently so I greed/need for those and rarely greed for DoW class gear. I pass a great number of gear I could make use of for either seals or actual equipping. The greed button says it all, be greedy if you want. If you want gear for a class you're not running a dungeon as don't do a Duty Finder Pick Up Group, go in with a group of friends and point out gear you would like or need for your class(es) you ant gear for. You're the greedy one here just as much as the rest of us. Please get over it.

For some people mentioning stuff like "PLD rolling Need on healer gear." This isn't posible if you're currently on PLD. The need button is unclickable if you cannot equip the gear NOW. Please learn how the need greed system works. Also higher lvl dungeons drop Untradeable gear, so your I'm gonna give this gear to a friend point is moot.

This is the only legitimate complaint in the topic and completely not what the OP was getting at. OP literally said he's using a tanking class in dungeons to gear up his other "main" classes, and therefore everyone else in his group should pass all gear to him if it's not for their class. Complete, unadulterated greed.

This thread is like the META GREED button right? You will try now to use social engineering to get what you want when the system faild to give you what you wanted the first time?

Please find and quote where I asked for precedence over anyone rolling for their own off class.

A 3-tiered loot system might work, but I am by no means suggesting I have the answer.

Need - Available for loot wearable by your current class.
Greed 1 - Available for loot wearable by your other classes at the required level.
Greed 2 - Available to everyone, for all loot.

The looting behaviour of people in XIV would get you downright ostracised in XI.

No, he's whining because he can't be defaulted on gear for a class he isn't because he doesn't want to play it in a dungeon. It's damn well obvious he just wants faster queue times in duty finder and the loot or this wouldn't be a problem.

Honestly the best option is to stop complaining about the roll system and to join a free company who will take the time to gear you by passing on every item... let me know how that search turns out.

Expecting everyone to follow your code of ethics or playstyle is just going to get you annoyed and frustrated.

Especially with duty finder.

Nobody's pushing you into any role. You can play whatever class you want. You might be blind to it, but your posts in this topic basically indicate that you're running dungeons as a tank and you think your greed rolls are more deserving than someone else's greed roll.

So not only are you saying that we shouldnt greed for the purposes of being greedy but SE shouldnt restrict need rolls on gear so anyone can roll on it? Did you eat a lot of paint chips when you were little?

No the need/greed is almost perfect the way it is. The only thing missing is a way to stop PLD, DRG, and WAR from needing on non-heavy DoW gear after about level 15. If you want another classes gear, play as that class. If you want it for an alt class or to vendor ... greed it. If for some reason you want to be nice and let a teamate win it for whatever purpose then there is the option to pass. Its all there and all fair IMO.

If your class is of level to wear the gear, it is of level to run the content. The servers arent going to scan your characters entire class history just to determine which greed youre eligible for. If your FC is forcing you to play a certain class as you say then they should be willing to pass on gear for you. Otherwise theyre ungrateful brats who dont deserve you sacrificng your game time and playstyle for them.

Why should gear for leveling an alt or second class be more important than gaining seals or gil for your main?

Just depends on what your end game is which is why it goes to a greed vote
