Yeah, give us a whispering filter that we can choose to receive /tell from friends, fellow LS/FC members only.
I dont know if this is the case - but if you block them can they still whisper you? I would imagine that if you blocked them they wouldnt be able to communicate with you at all?
I'm less worried about spam than i am about the obvious character creation for it, with the limited characters we can create right now it's sad so many are being used up for this and taking slots away from actual players
Yea the fact that our friends can't get on our servers to play, while there are 5 different RMT characters on every map is really not looking good for SE at the moment.
I only hope the number of these bug will decrease once SE start collecting bills.
I just got a tell from said spam, I think that's starting to cross the line.
SE are looking into the issue as I last read but not sure where it's at.
This is usually what happens with new mmo's, they usually take a couple months to get rid of.
It´s getting worse and worse by the day now. Almost to the point I am spending more time blacklisting these spammers and Reporting them, then actually playing the game.
Up till this weekend it was just a casual spammer in the main cities, but as of this weekend there are now at least 4-5 spammers in each city and now they also spamming the regular zones as well!
It´s seriously irritating... as it now really starts to directly affect my gameplay, because I have to spend at least 5 minutes (if not more) blacklisting and filing a report every friggin time I zone!
If this isn´t going to be dealt With fast enough, I will start losing my enjoyment in this game pretty quickly. :(
It was one of the primary reasons (Next to the bot invasion) I quit AION within the first month after release, as I just couldn´t stand all the spam anymore.

Also, it would GREATLY help and somewhat relieve this Whole stress if we could just rightclick the spammer name in chat and directly blacklist! Instead of having to constantly Write the entire EXACT name! Especially since their names also become more and more annoying and more time consuming to Write Down and blacklist!
Especially With the speed and horrible fast pace of these spammers, you are forced to maximise Your chat screen every time to have enough time to read their full names and blacklist them.
Even better, like other MMOs have already done is to just have the option of right clicking name in chat and have a feature "Report as Spam", that automatically blacklists that person and creates a report to Support!
This would be the best solution IMHO! As now you have to og through the entire support system to Write a report and just takes too much time. And With the horrible increase of amount of spammers... I am soon just gonna stop Reporting them, as it just takes too much time. :(
Seriously irritating! :(
Yes agreed. These Gil Sellers are really obnoxious. Last night in U'dahl the chat log window was jammed full. Now I get them through tells, yells and shouts. I spent a lot of my time blacklisting these irritating spammers! What really concerns me is the fact that some of these Sellers are phishing, hacking accounts, and effecting the security of your game S.E. accounts. It made me paranoid enough to register my Security Token that came with my C.E. I've read in other posts that S.E. is working on this but they have got to move faster on this issue. We really need an easier way to report them. If I used the present system in the support desk, I would've been typing all night to report the 17 sellers that I had to Blacklist in the first 10 minutes of gameplay in U"Dahl. :(
Some of them are bound to be stolen accounts; get your security keys!
Sadly, I can't see the spam truly dying down until subscriptions begin. Even if SE could go around banning them en masse they would just come right back in.
At least they're not getting THAT much gil. (Seems like their current rates are $10 for 100k.) I have yet to see any of the usual farming droves out in the world. Their main source of gil atm is likely stolen accounts, as I mentioned above. Things will get better, 'til then we just gotta grin and bear it... x.x
I saw in game a way to blacklist the gil sellers quickly through something like "/blacklist add </r>"
Does anyone know what the prompt exactly is so I can quickly be rid of these people?
SE needs to add an option for blacklisting and reporting RMT when you right click/square button their name in the chatbox. It would make it a lot easier to deal with these annoying RMTs.
SE is blisting these guys as fast as they can, but they have to review each case to make sure that they're legitimate. If one non-rmt person got banned, the whole community would flip shit, and they're trying to avoid that. Usually 3-5 blist adds in a few minutes wipes them out for a few hours.
We will always have RMT issues, for as long as we have gill buyers.
i think they are aware Oo
ffomall or whatever it is, spams hardcore. SE hire GM for the servers
The harder money is to farm, the more money is in demand(gold buyers). The more money is in demand, the more money suppliers there are(gold sellers).
The amount of gold seller spam will only get worse as more people realize 99% of this game's gil is created from quests that eventually run out.
I thought most of the spammers were hacked accounts. Sure I've seen names like Ggds Bfsdhd spamming (most likely created to spam) ... but Donni Darko? Probs a hack.
Protect your account folks!
Until they settle down a bit try this:
- Click on the + sign below chat, make a new chat tab
- Then click the gear symbol to open up the options menu, choose the new tab
- Add everything to it that "general" has without /sh chat
Unfortunately, you won't be able to see real shouts but it will at least filter out the madness. On our server I am able to keep this tab up in cities, and switch back to general when I'm out in the world. Been working pretty well for the time being. Still get the occasional whisper.
What really worries me...is that after blocking 13 or so of them in Uldah last night...i left to go fishing...came back...and one of them was still able to get through.
i went to block a guy who was spamming...but he was already on my block list! (yes, i checked spelling. it was correct)
It only happened once...but it worries me.
They just need to add the ability to right click a gold spammer name and click a "Report Spammer" button which not only sends the report to the GMs but also adds name to blacklist. As it stands, opening up the blacklist and typing out their entire unreadable "Frgeubf Hpkijdn" name is incredibly annoying.
Theyre never going to go away though. If their main method of getting gold is hacked accounts then how would they slow down when subs start? Only way to stop it is to either stop players from buying, or stop them from getting hacked. Unfortunately, you can't fix stupid.
oh look, another SPAM thread in the forum SPAMMING more whining about gil sellers
you are just as bad as them making new threads about it every hour
Ctrl+x then ctrl+v work best in pc, I feel for the people on ps3 though
The filter tab idea is what my server is doing, every just uses the /yell in town now, although sometimes they spam that too.
I cant even go to Gridania without CONSTANT Goldseller spam going on this seriously needs to be adressed.... If we are gonna be PaYing for this game and all.
I get a reply from reporting someone and it says something along the lines of "since so many people have reported this player we can't send a personalized response." If you have recognized that player has been spamming so many people about buying gil...why is that same "player" still spamming hours later?
Also, would be fantastic to report something by clicking their name in chat and the offending message itself is reported.
kk, now they're speed spamming, making it hard to lock in onto their names to Blacklist or report. And it's names like Dtj Grfkdo. Ul'dah on Exodus server is ridiculous now.
So far, I deal with these people by blacklisting them. My question for the mods or devs is, is there a limit to how many people I can blacklist? Is this going to be the only solution we have?
Other than that, the game is awesome and I'm having a blast.
If you look up the whois info on the seller's domain, in almost all cases it's owned by a Chinese company. Too bad you can't block the entire IP range for a country that the game isn't released in... Oh wait you could. I guess they would just use proxies to connect anyhow.
There needs to be a block option when right clicking someone's name.
There needs to be a "report for spam/RMT/inappropriate behavior?" prompt when blocking.
The limit on blocks are 200. Once an account has been banned/closed due to abuse, would it be possible to have the server remove all trace of that name? It would be nice to log in, check my block list and see the number of names block slowly disappear, letting me know progress is being made, and if new names to block show up, I will have the ability to do so.
FFXI's spam filter work great, they should have added that on FFXIV! and the real issue is the buyers, they come to them so they will continue selling gil, i've seen some already made 1m in those shouts ><
I don't see why SE leaves it up to us to report obvious RMT advertising. It is their job to keep servers clean. We pay them for that, not the other way around. A GM going through zones regularly should be able to handle this on the spot.
3 days the same people shouting and not getting banned, is ridiculous. To accommodate THEM, I had to block shouts and yells, and loose game functionality in the process.
At this rate I'm going to max that out fairly quickly...
Best macro for Gil Sellers. But there will be gil sellers with the current economy.Quote:
/blacklist add <r>
Please for all that is good in the crystal of light, send Bahamut to take out the Gil sellers....my fingers hurt from blacklisting, The numbers are growing and have become insane, and they spam like a squirrel on an energy drink!
