Inventory Sort is desperately needed

what the heck happened to inventory sort

trying to juggle multiple suits of gear, raw materials, all the things you craft while you level, all the materia you create

suffering

please bring inventory sort back ASAP. Being that this game is designed to have you play multiple classes inventory sorting is as essential to quality of life as having multiple gear sets. Dealing with inventory is especially a pain because you can only look at one bag at a time

I've been trying to lv all DoH and DoL to 15 to give myself a strong crafting base, and inventory was a nightmare, especially before I got my first retainer!!! I actually like that you have to be 20 to have a retainer, and I'm not sure a simple "sort" is what I want.

Some ideas:
-let HQ and normal items stack together
-give players filters to determine what goes in each tab (I would like my 1st tab to be consumables, tab 2 to be raw materials, tab 5 to be gear...etc)
-materia bag
-tackle box (fishing lures)
-CUL has way too many items - idk how to fix it - cooler, spice rack?
-Even the armory is tough when trying to level DoL, and DoH... tool box? Or maybe just ONE hammer for BSM, GSM, CRP, ARM, MIN?
-some inventory limit makes sense, but you need so much stuff!

I'm sort of at a loss for how you're "supposed to" do it. It makes sense to collect the stuff you need then make it into things, but you simply can't do that.

There is a basic inventory sort in the game, you can enable it under the Character Settings.
It does it like, if you put food in page 3, new food goes there... tackle in page 2, so tackle goes there... not the best though.

But would love a button that sorts by class/class lvl :3

It's not sorting, it's the tag that's needed.

I'd love to know which mats goes to which profession(Skin will have a Leatherworking tag in it for eg). Whenever you got your hand on a new mats, you're like "What does this do?" and can't sort it properly.

The same could also be apply for gear set, having taken almost all class as I am, I have no idea which gear is on what set.

Having taken FATE as an idea from Guild Wars 2(I think so), it seems SE didn't even try to take as much of their idea as they can.

For eg, in GW2, you have access to a material bank, you can access it from everywhere and automatically sort item in place, and you can place your mat in there just with 1 click. That's the sort of thing FF14 currently need. I believe SE somehow made this awesome idea of GW2 into what we know as "Armoury Chest", which, afaik, fail horribly when it come to sorting.

I'd even settle for sorting alphabetically at this point. Not the best, but SOMETHING is needed.

The rest of your ideas are decent though. I just think a regular alpahabetical sort would go a long way at this point.

As for identifying which Armory gear belongs to which set..easy to fix (in theory), just add set numbers to the equipment icon while they're in your Armory. Boosh.

This game seems to be designed to sort items by internal database ids, which is of course invisible to and absolutely useless for the player. For example try listing some items on the market, the list of items you're selling will not be sorted in any obvious order; not by time listed, price, quantity, or even name. Even two of the same item listed one after the other won't be next to each other on the list, but in seemingly arbitrary positions. I honestly have no idea what the devs were thinking, except maybe to purposefully waste the player's time. Same with items for sale in the shop, they're grouped by category but within each category it's a complete mess.

And how do you decide which item to use afterwards if they're in the same stack? How do you tell them apart? I don't think allowing HQ and normal items to stack would work unless you remove the HQ version. I guess in a sense, you'd be trading away quality for quantity. I think I'll pass on that idea. I've always been more of a quality type of person.

For crafting you can already select NQ or HQ. For usable items, maybe have a dialogue to choose NQ vs HQ when assigning it to the hotbar?

I agree with the sorting button, while we are at it, add a search bar too

Sounds so tedious and complicated to program. I think I'll go with things as they are and try not to hoard too many things instead.

I agree leveling crafting is a pain in the butt cause nothing is sorted correctly. I spend almost an hour just organizing stuff.

Totally need an inv sort.. also could do with a summoner bell inside each grand company hq

I really want my inventory to be in List view vs. Icons. Hard to discern one item from another sometimes, especially when it comes to Materia, Ores, Leather. Being able to sort by level or grouping would be, well, the bees knees.

Please implement this!

I spent two hours sorting my retainers' inventories because I just...I have so much CRAP for crafting. We desperately need an easier way to sort things.

A place to put stuff for culinarian would be really nice, too. They just have so many materials for the items.

This might be a bump, so if there is an actual petition thread to implement this, I'd appreciate a redirectlink.

Anyway, just wanted to add that an Inventory sort would be useful, or as someone else said, [similarily to the GW2 craftsytem] there could be a different area all together to shove your materials.
That system works wonders in Gw2, and I never had to worry about stopping what I was doing to drop off 100 mats.
Just a simple right click-deposit collectible.

Even if that specific system can not be implemented, it'd be great to have a sort that would just group your items together by tag. This game has an immense number of different crafting items, and since you end up taking more than one, [or all] there's no reason not to make things easier.

id prefer an extra bag for just crafting/gathering classes since the amount of all the different materials and stackable to 500 or somethin ;/

Crafting/Gathering inv management is a complete nightmare. Even sort isn't going to necessarily fix it.

I can't count the hours I've lost repeatedly mouse-overing items trying to find the exact one I need. Unless autosort puts ores/cloth/yarn/ingots/leather/skins in LEVEL order somehow, its not going to be much of a solution.

The REAL problems are:

1) multibag inventory: incredibly stupid to have to click through 18 different bags if you count your retainers.
2) Icon inventory: Most icons are so similar that it is impossible to find your item at a glance. Some icons are great, like flax. But armor and most mat icons are indistinguishable. Not to mention the mouseover function gets in the way 100% of the time.

Being able to scan through your entire inventory at a glance - resizable list view window for instance - would be tremendous.

I prefer the inventory in TERA where it's one big bag and you can easily find what you're looking for at a glance instead of flipping through tabs. The bank in that game had different tabs though but the space was huge.

You all realize they have already said they are implementing this in 2.1 right? This was mentioned in the suggestion thread like a month ago. They even had pictures of it all (grant it, it was all in Japanese, but it was there). They are not patching anything except major fixes into the game until 2.1 hits.
