Gold spammers are taking advantage of SEs limits.

Let's face it, RMT know they will be banned eventually, that is why they make characters in masses then wait till their batch is banned and then bring the other batch after, This is the same problem that was in early days of FFXI.

Eventually some people get tired of blacklisting and reporting them, so they stop bothering, which in the end RMT plans are working, to annoy you as much as possible and get poor fools who are stupid enough to buy their gold. or use whatever dumb services they have for very lazy players.

I blacklist them, and then HOURS later after reporting, they are STILL their spamming. and when they are hammerd, they bring out a replacement, this just keeps going on and on. this is how they work.

In other words SE needs a faster way of dealing with them, and because they know that character will be there a while. so they are very aggressive with the spam.

Well I am about to be the most hated person on FFXIV: ARR but there is a way I believe to slow down if not stop gil sellers for good. This is a suggestion to the people at S.E.. Banning credit cards and internet protocols is good but they will find ways around them. They are currently taking advantage of the create a character option. I don't want this but maybe instead of charging for how many characters you have... maybe charge a fee for each time you create a new character.

Lets say you charge $10 per character creation... I hate it but for them... They would be paying and eventually losing the money they get from the selling in the first place. I believe they will not be able to function if that is the case.

Please everyone voice your opinion on this subject.

Oh and just an FYI... I have been in the same position in Ul'dah and in the last hour 5 new characters have been created.....

I feel the same way, but I do not agree with money for new characters. That's just absurd. I think them losing 30 bucks + on an account is worse than $10 for a name. Buying up those cd keys just means they would be not only taking up more of SE's product and making SE a nice profit, but suffering a monetary loss on their farming end. Thus, SE profits, RMT's go broke. Great strat. Just ban the accounts. Furthermore, I think the right click blacklist would be nice, as well a feature to blacklist an infinite amount of players.

Going off of ZAsha's post.... Instead of a $10 fee for character creation, how about make it a security deposit instead. You pay $10, then get refunded that money if you prove to be a legitimate player with no bans/reports for spamming.

They have to profit from someone cause with their lazy attitude towards this game they aren't going to have much of a player base to profit from before long.

Just don't allow shouting or yelling until you're level 15 with any class. That'll solve most of the problem.

There should be a report rmt spam button, that saves the last post that you want to report as rmt advertising. It should silence the account's ability to broadcast in game and mark the account as suspect until it is checked out by a gm. Maybe Just have it silence them after about 5 or 10 people click report to hopefully stop people from abusing it.

There needs to be a one click method on a name to report as gold spammer. Adding these people to my blacklist takes too much time. Look at how Trion dealt with gold spammers, what in game actions they took and the amount of diligence it required to get them under control.

With the amount that these assholes are spamming players should not even have to report them, if SE would get off their lazy asses and just monitor the chat they could really cut back on this problem. At this point they need to try something, anything. I'm very close to giving up on this game because every time I log in I've got 10 pages of spam in my log before the zone even loads.

Sorry but I don't agree with the idea that charging per character will solve the problem. I've been playing MMORPG's for years, since before gold selling was even an issue and none of the other games I've played charged per character yet none of them had the problem to the extent I'm seeing in this game. Lets face it, when the same person can spam a channel for hours on end without being stopped, the problem is with game moderators (or a lack thereof). I don't think anyone expects SE to suddenly cure the gold selling problem that plagues all MMORPG's, but right now I think most of us would be happy just being able to use public chat channels without having to keep adding to our blacklists.

I'm actually in the same boat, on my server Ul'dah is heavly infested with them, to where i can't even finish loading and my entire chat log is spammed from top to bottom, and there is usually 2-3 of them doing it. tells are near impossible to get if you don't blacklist fast. My server was closed off at 1st and we had peace,

"continued because of your awful character limit"

Now it's getting to the point i am thinking about not even playing anymore cause i'm tired of having to keep black listing a new patch every few hours i zone into a town. If SE is even reading this forums you guys seriously need to do something and fast or you will lose customers. i love this game to death but even i have my limits if i can't enjoy it.

You can't even go outside, because they are there as well, shouting to make sure you can't get away from them. the only safe zones are the high level ones low levels can't easily get to, and then you get tells from them, if you don't blist them asap they will keep sending you tells. the same ones. this is getting absurd to the point where i no longer feel like playing anymore because i'm tired of this.

It would greatly help...Make the "Blacklist" Option blacklist the entire account. Not simply individual characters. :confused:

Just limit /shouts to one per 5 minutes. That way people at least have a chance to see the gil seller's name so they can blacklist them.

I agree with this, but make it something like players without a class over a certain level and quest completion incur chat restrictions.

Under Lv.5
Cannot use /tell, /shout, or /yell channels. /say is limited to 5 per every two minutes.

Under Lv.10
Cannot use /shout or /yell channels. /tell limited to 3 every 5 minutes. /say limitations are lifted.

Under Lv.15 + Completion of Primary Class Quests up to Lv.10
Limitations on /shout and /yell channels. No more than 3 per 3 minutes. That's a limit of 1 per minute. Attempting a 4th will incur a 5 minute lockout from using either channel again. /tell and /say limitations are completely lifted.

Above Lv.15 + Completion of Main Story and Primary Class Quests up to Lv.10
All limitations are removed.

Once the RMT problem is more under their control, chat restrictions can be completely lifted or reduced. This won't completely deter RMT but will give them extra work to do every time an account is banned. Unfortunately it also impairs new players a bit so I took that into consideration. By Lv.15 you should have unlocked the Armoury System and completed up to the Lv.10 Main Story Quest.

yeah no, the limiting of tells and stuff screws over new players who want to contact friends when they join a server.

Many games have succesfully implimented a report rmt spam button, after so many reports the account is auto-banned from game. while difficult to impliment it's also extremely effective, and players caught reporting real players (to try and get them banned) can receive a short suspension.
Aka: player 1 doesn't like player 2 so they report them as an rmt to get them banned, this provides a snapshot of the chat log or the gm's can just pull up area logs, find player 1 was abusing it, player 1 receives a 1-2 day suspension. you people can think of the details. but limiting shout, tells etc hurts the real player base more than the rmt as many of the rmt spamming accounts are actually stolen and using level 25+ classes to do it

This I think is a good idea.

Most the problem I agree, It does not take that long to get to 15. I agree that it will definietly slow them down and it would solve how fast they can repopulate into the Shout-spam, but the gil sellers will still be there. There is always /tell too... albeit is slower to spam in /tell that /shout or /yell.

The draw back would be actual new/low level players could not seek help via shouting/yelling. How much that would really matter....? Idk.

One of the legitimate uses for /shout is to get help. ("Where are the spriggans?") Low-level players are the ones who most need this.

There's no legitimate reason to spam shout. Whether you think the limit should be one shout per 5 minutes or 1 per minute, there ought be a limit.

Making it easier to report/block would indeed help. You can send a tell or invite to a group by simply right-clicking a name, so why aren't the block/report options there as well? The current methods work, but after doing it 5 times for every zone, people get tired of it and tend to just ignore the spam. A clickable option would be much easier and therefor used more often. I also agree there should be level limits or usage time limits on shout and yell.

I hate going to cities, you can't communicate with anyone. It's pure gil spam. You block one (somehow) and more pop up like weeds. This needs to be fixed now.

Right click block or report spam would be ideal.

I actually logged out because I was sick of seeing gold spam.

I think two things would help the players out a lot while SE works on a better solution. First give the players a right-click submenu option to blacklist players. Make it quick and easy for players to ignore them. Second they need to make it where they cant post more than so many times in a given time limit. ( not exactly sure the tech term for it but i think y'all know what I'm talking about). This will limit the amount gold spammers can post and players can quickly ignore them. The only thing I can think of to completely stop gold spammers is for SE to incorperate buying gold into their paid services to deter players from going to their sites, while I'm not really for this options its all I can think of.......anyone got any better ideas?

This is really driving me crazy. They just kept popping up like undead as soon as I BL one! Now whenever I get /tell notification sound I thought it's a spam! I'm actually registering the notification sound as spam!

SE should hire in game mods of sorts, just regular players to report spammers. They could make a one click feature for people of that status and maybe offer small incentives.

Yes. Although it shouldn't work that quickly - one or even five people should not be allowed to ruin one person's game because we all know that would be abused. I would opt for a full communication silence after 15 people report the user. It should happen very quickly. When you report someone, it should send any chatlogs from that user's name along with the report, and if there is no wrongdoing (ie, the person reporting them was trolling) then the people doing the reporting should be given a one hour (minimum) game-ban for their sins. That should be there only to act as a deterrent to trolls.

Making /Sh or /yell lvl based is not a good idea imo... what happend if u decide to lvl a craft from 0?? not being able to sh until lvl 10 or so will be awfull... i think there must be a better way of dealing with this issue.

So the thing here is RMT ppl being able to introduce chars without any limitation and that will not change... charging for every toon, increasing the game price etc. wont stop the fact that there is a huge market for rmt in MMORPG's... The real problem with them now is the horrible spamming!! and the solution to that is being able to blist ppl faster... i play in PS3 and when i select the name of someone using the chat, a quick menu appears... Why not adding a new option that says "Black list"?? with this little fix, ppl will only waste a few mins selecting and choosing... Spams dont need to be a reason to stop playing this amazing game.

I hope this shit ends when SE starts charging to play.

Rules / Charges don't hurt GoldSellers as much as it's going to hurt SE. As long as they can scam or made some cash, they are good to create another 10 or so charaters to spam. It's just another small "fee" for them because they are focusing on making money / hacking creadit card or w/e they are doing.

But for SE, think for people that are still considering to buy the game or already bought it buy are trying it out for the first month. When they see the rules and fees, they will get turned off. It's not their (people that are considering or currently playing) fault and they ended up have to obey by those rules and fees. Another reason is that it wouldn't make the game anymore interesting and fun to play. Example: Asking for help, guild recruitment, selling item, information inquiry, etcs. Hell even if a low level can troll and sing in the "shout" channel is somewhat entertaining. It just makes the game more "alive" i guess.

The major problem with the GoldSellers are not the spamming really. People have to understand how GoldSellers works. They first have to have the in game gold to sell for cash. Where do you think they get the in game gold from ? Playing the game/grinding the game or hacking to another person account and transfer the gold. How many person are "employed" to grind? How many character are made for grinding ? Multi-box (notice this game haven even solve this simple thing. Too greedy maybe). You do know that the are going to flood the market with mats/gears and gold right ? Resulting a broken market if it goes big.

SE please just think of how much you guys have to put up with maximum characters problem in a server and also overloading it. How much Dev's money are being put into making another server / update or maintaining the server? Think of how much pain and headache SE's team have to go through everyday solving balance problem, server problem, patch problem, security, RP, etcs.

Think of mow many customers are being annoyed and turn off by the que in logging in to a server.

I maybe exaggerating a little bit but...

Has SE given any indication that they are even continuing to look into this issue? I know they banned 500+ accounts a while back but I've read nothing since. Surely SE is playing their own game; can't they can SEE this all this horrid spam? Does it honestly not bother them?

It is ridiculous to have to spend the first 5 or so minutes of every city-zone maneuvering through the (awful) blacklist/report dance.

Where are the GMs? Why aren't these gil-spamming cretins slapped in GM Jail? And, for heaven sake, where is r-click/b-list (and report)?

50 servers? Why can't one person's job be to jump on a server, see a spammer, ban the account. Move on to next server. Keep repeating. Surely they'll get tired of getting banned every hour?

I think that banning the accounts is an effort in futility. As long as people continue to buy the gil the RMT will keep coming back because the money is there. I propose they attempt to adopt a similar system to another MMO I have played called Eve Online, in which real money trade is permitted. They use game time as the currency. Players can purchase a one month game time subscription with real money or with in game gold and then sell it. You can't use this process to sell the time subscription for real money, its only a one way street. This allows players who want to purchase gold to buy these extensions with real money and then sell them on the market for gold, or it allows for players to play the game for free by getting a ton of in game money. This solution would put the money in the hands of SE rather than the gil sellers and provide the players who clearly are buying gold with a legitimate way to do so and would undercut the entire reason the gil sellers are in the game.

This is a good chance for SE to make some money and to help us out. SE should charge these gil spammers a fee of 75% of what they are trying to make by selling gils to other players for every /shout, /yell, and /tell these spammers send out. The spammers will stop since they wont make much of a profit for spamming. just an idea though.

add a /spam command tht automatically adds the person to the blacklist and reports them for spamming so the people working at SE deals with them.

I will also get random /tell from spammers too. Perhaps that can be addressed with this level cap.

They just need to add a system as used in the wow addon BadBoy which filters out and automatically blocks them.

I am definitely taking a break from this game till SE does something about these spammers. I'm not paying to have myself spammed by these asshats. FFXI was ruined in large part to these gil selling morons, would've thought SE had learned their lesson on that area by now.

Or, do SE have their hands in the cookie jar and take part in this themselves? I seriously am starting to wonder seeing as nothing's being done...
