Miqo'te

It really seems like 99% of the people on my server are Miqo'te, I am guilty of it myself. I have not seen a single Hyur or Roegadyn. I seen a couple Elezen and a few Lalafell.. but mostly just cats everywhere.

I want to be a Padjal but I guess that is an NPC exclusive.

I know this is probably pretty far fetched, but any hope for a full make over option later? I honestly would like to switch to a new race and look. Every direction I look I feel like I am just looking at myself. Perhaps a Night Elezan would be awesome.. they remind me of Castlevania.

I tried a few races before settling on a female Miqo'te (Moon type). I just didn't like the look of the other races in gladiator gear.

Aside from the nice starting stats that are suited for gladiators (from what I see in the chara-creation), they're too cute to pass up.

I am pretty sure that the allure of the Miqo'te stems primarily from the design of the character itself in correlation with the assumed naivety of characters in the terms of Anime and such. The females are petite but not overtly childish as the Lalafell. The males have a certain je ne sais quoi that isn't present in their male counterparts of the other races. They seem to be nearly perfect representations of the perceived idealistic archetypal person that the standard Otaku idolizes, complete with kitty-personae, such as the ears, tail and personality quirks which also fit into many of the standard Otaku's idolizations.. :3 ..And if I lost you with all of the long words, I basically said that people like the Miqo'te because of their representation as compared to the other races.. xD

What it boils down to is what you want to look like. I play a Hyur because I always play humans. Each race has nice characteristics when it comes to aesthetics. Lalafell's. Walk funny and it always make me want to pick them up and hug them. Elezen are super tall and look very natureish. Roegadyn are tough and burly and look like the could squish your skull by looking at you.

Miqo'te are popular for the same reason as people have stated before. They are basically anime archetypes. The females are cute and playful. The males are loners and have a really cool squat they do. Like they are waiting to pounce on something.

Every race has its own strengths. Stats don't really mean a whole lot until you get to that point where the slightest advantage will give you and edge. By then, you are not worrying about how you look.

Go for what you want to play. Because you will be staring at it for the next 50 levels (if you stick with it)

Uh yeah, I'm Miqo'te too. I usually go through the looks of the different races and pick the one I like the most. After all I have to look at it for most of my gaming time.

Humans are alright. I can seem myself playing one of those. Lallafel are just small, and childish. For me that was a tad too creepy, that's all. The big ones, Ro-something, yeah too big for my taste really, and too green. Or blue. Then there's the Elezen, and they just looked ... odd. I'm not sure how else to say it, but there's something weird with their body proportions. The head's too small or something. Or the body too big.

And Miqo'te's were just too cute, so I picked that.

i like them but I'm not some creepy weeaboo otaku o.O though I can understand where your coming from......that's just a bit too much of a generalisation and some people like them for other reasons, this is going to sound weird but I like them and a couple of the other races for their facial structures...this is coming from a 3D modeller point of view which might explain the weirdness xD

My legacy character (never really got her too high up though) was elezen, and i just made a miqo'te to try something different during beta four. I just got attached to her, and she's my main now. :) I've also got a lalla on a JP server because i made her when the servers kept being down for me. I see Lalla the most, but that could be they are one of the more obvious when you see them, the small size. Personally i think the miqo'te animations are some of my favorites, so that helps, just too cute.

I can understand what you mean, personally, my main character happens to be a Miqo'te because when I create characters for MMO, I give them an entire backstory and the Miqo'te was the only race that really fit the personality of Autumn, in fact Autumn is my only Miqo'te character.. I have 2 Roegadyn (One of which I named Leight Foredinner.. xD ), a Lalafell named Megara, a Hyur name Melody, and then I have Olga Astronomonov who is an Elezen..

to be honest i picked a miqote because it has the look of a DEX focussed race.... and i wanted to be an archer....but the cat look definitely makes it an even easier option.
i honestly like the look of ALL the races and have a good idea of how i will make them each look unique, but ill make more characters after i max a class or two on my miqote.
to me it just feels weird to pick a race that looks like if it was reallife they would have a clear dis advantage in their class, like a roegayden warrior vs a lafallel warrior. i know its a mmo and it comes down to the stats but its just something i take into consideration when choosing races.

Oh the other reason I like miqote is because I love cats, I have 4 myself, crazy cat lady :)

Need more lalafells in this thread

I played a female miqo'te in phase 2, she was ok, didn't like the voice choices much, but I liked how she looked with dark blue skin and white facepaint.

Then phase 3 came and I couldn't make her look the same as the colour choices had changed and I made a male miqo'te and fell in love with him. I also find the miqo'te lore very interesting, how this whole sunseeker breeding male stuff works in a "modern (fantasy)" world.

But then I bumped into Merlwyb and crushed hard on her! And I ended up making a female roegadyn who stole my heart completely. :) I still play my roe, but I've created my manqo'te as my retainer and have him as a low level gladiator on the same server as my roe. I just couldn't give up on either. T_T

I also find their emotes most lovely ... and while I'm Hyur on my main char I have several male and female "cats" of both clans on secondary chars and one of them will be the first to go through the story second time enjoying all the dialogs adn quirks of the game.

I always had a thing for Miqo'te (Mithra) as far back as FFXI.
the only issue until FFXIV:ARR was there was no male of the species and I like to play a character as the same gender as me.
back in FFXI I have a mule character that was Mithra just so I could have a Mithra character.

I did the opposite of what I normally do in MMOs with FFXIV. I usually play as female human rangers; I'm currently a male Roegadyn tank, and really enjoying it too!

I had a legacy Miqo'te, but I changed her into a female Highlander this time around. I haven't used that character yet.

Anyway, legacy Ragnarok seems really varied. There's a lot of everything running around.

I had a hard time choosing between us and huge, but liked the hair options better, lol.

Sometimes I do wish I was Hyur, though.

That is what I think the bottle of Fantasia is for. I have already got 1 bottle of the stuff before my 30 day vet has kicked in. I just don't have the heart to use it to change my char back to Hyur

That is THE most popular hairstyle hands down. I was glad for my bottle of fantasia to change it.

Hahaha I am on your server as well, and I am also a Miqo'te so you are right for sure. I honestly chose for the same reasons most people did, I am a huge anime nerd (although I have slacked off in the past few years) as is evident by my characters name, also I do love cats and have 2 of my own, and also I always wanted to play as one in FFXI and never got the chance to so I'm making up for it now... also yeah they do sit really cool :}

Hyur and Miqo'te are probably the best lookin class....imo :P

Miqo'te for me were to cute to pass up. Being able to be a cat person i had to make a Miqo'te in 1.0. I tried other races in beta but could not give up my Miqo'te due to my obsession with them.
There just so perfect as what I pictured in my mind as what a cat girl/cat male would look like (Otaku and proud of it).

Because cats.

I didn't really want to have a tail and when I was messing around with the faces and hairstyles I was very happy with my character. I can't wait for Vanity clothes and hopefully PJ's for bedtime.

Bah. My Highlander will crush you all. Damn cats everywhere. Always brushing against my legs when I'm trying to tank a boss...

I wish there was a dog based race since dogs are so much better than cats.

Roegadyns and highlanders! So many little, frail catgirls running around that we are in desperate need of the size and power of the FemRoes and Highlanders.

Because a cat gladiator is an incredible thing.
