I find myself having trouble enjoying the game.

With all the GOD DAMNED RP'ers.

I'm a Legacy. This is my server with all my friends from 1.0 on it...and I come back at the start of ARR...and everywhere I GO! JUST PEOPLE! Publically RPing!

It's gross and disgusting. Take that stuff to PRIVATE. It iS NOT MEANT FOR PUBLIC. They're even getting romantic about it. One of them started...flirting with a NPC...yes...

And they're defensive about it! Calling Balmung the 'OFFICIAL' RP server, despite a GM very much telling me it is not. Players can't decide this and I find it incredibly rude and disruptive to my gameplay.

I could block them all, but that requires alot of effort on my part, as I have to manually type each name.

Can SE please do something about this rampant problem? I actually prefer Gil sellers over this.


I have no problem with Roleplayers, merely ones that do it in public and are not considerate of others.

I don't really see what's the problem unless they're having sexual RPs in public.

Sorry, we've been here for over three years and we're not going anywhere or changing our ways just to satisfy a few intolerant people. Either suck it up and deal with it, or move to a new server?

Edit: Also, it has never been called the "official" Rp server save by the uneducated. We've always referred to is the "unofficial" RP server for three years now. Although SE has recognized it in past 1.0 interviews.

Of course it's not the "official" RP server, that would mean SE themselves chose it. But it's perfectly reasonable for people who RP to decide to get together on one server making it the "unofficial" RP server. I'm a new player and I had no idea it was the unofficial RP server when I chose Balmung, but I'm really glad I'm on it now. The RP community just seems to be nicer and more helpful than other communities on online games.

You're wrong. It's the Unofficial RP server and majority vote is the rule. Showing up after that vote was cast, is your trouble. I don't RP but, I came any way because the RP community is always less trollborne than non-RP. Where there is open, graphic RP then, I would politely ask the persons involved to take it to tells and only escalate to GMs if I had to.

Goodluck with reporting us all. Seeing no where in the rules it says we are not allowed to RP on Balmung. If you don't like it, then don't read it? You aren't forced to follow the RPers.

Show some respect to your fellow players, RP is a much part of a MMORPG as Raiding, PvPing, doing quest, craft stuff, etc. And no we shouldn't do it in private. SE didn't give any official RP servers so we picked this server. And Balmung was the unofficial RP server three years ago already. RPers don't mind your presence, they don't force you to RP, yet you want to force them not to rp in public. Who has to be mature here hm? Goodluck with reporting each and everyone of us, I'm sure SquareEnix will support you in your crusade against the RPer, especially seeing how much they offer for RPers they must really dislike having RPers in their game.

Your trying to force your views on a large group of players and they have every right to rp in public. Your wasting energy on discriminating against a group of players. Squire isn't going to ban them because they rp in public, they might close your ticket though, this is only an issue in your head.

Heck, trash all your RPGs because that isn't any better. Time to go back to FPS, but don't do story mode. That is RPing too.

I think he better drops the gaming scene in a whole. Even in FPS's games you take a ROLE, no matter how little story there is. You still play the ROLE of a soldier, police officer, criminal, etc etc. This guy is doomed! OMG those darn RPers have taken over the whole industry and forcing him to play a ROLE where ever he goes!

You do realize Balmung was selected by the playerbase from the very start (when it was Besaid) as the RP server. You just gotta deal with it. I was from Excalibur and moved here knowing what I was getting myself into.

But you really can't tell people to stop role-playing. Whether on Balmung or any other server. They have every right to enjoy and experience the game as they please, as long as they aren't in violation of the game's terms of agreement.

I have never nor will I ever have a problem with RP'ers as long as they don't force their method of gameplay on me or anyone else. Their way of playing, RPing in public is like a couple kissing in public. It's fine and dandy til they make you the center of the sandwich, so to speak, and in that case speak up and say "whoa take it somewhere else" but if it's just RPing where there is no offensive talk, or over the line theme to it, i say let them play how they want. We all play this game differently, some take it serious, others more laid back, and yet still others take it in a different direction of RP. If one person has a problem with how a whole group (100+ or more people) are playing a MMORPG then that single indivudual needs to sit down and think about what kind of game he/she is playing and realize it is a RPG where people role-play. If you don't like it, choose another server or stop playing. Simple as that!
