I have done Ifrit (Hard) 100 times now, and not even seen a WHM drop or a Bard Bow either, let alone had the chance to roll on it.
almost every single time its a BLM arm or DRG pike.
Fix the loot table, and up the loot to 2 weapons guaranteed.

For us, we get one of the two Books pretty much every run. Never seen the Dragoon Pike in about 30 runs, random loot is sometimes pretty random.
I COMPLETELY agree. I've only seen SMN book and BLM dagger. It's such a common drop, everyone just greeds on it. I've only done it about 8 times or so, but it's still pathetic.
i've done ifrit a ridiculous amount of times and i've only seen the scholar book once... and i lost the roll
i don't like how random it is
Just came back to say I did Ifrit 3 more times, and all times the SMN book dropped. No summoner in party. :(
Lol i've never seen the DRG pike drop. Also its completely random every single time, a LS friend of mine did it 47 times before getting the BRD Bow.
I've seen every single weapon drop 2+ times in 30 runs. Random is random.
I've seen WHM cane drop a LOT in there. I have also heard that summoner book drops a lot, but I have only seen it once in my many runs (since I started going as smn -- go figure). Random is random, as others have said... But now I have a question for you...
Would you prefer the way drops worked in Ifrit 1.0 or do you like the adjustment in 2.0?
(For those who don't know -- In 1.0, a random weapon was SOMETIMES given to a specific person upon completion of Ifrit. You couldn't trade it and it had nothing to do with the job you were playing or even the jobs you had leveled. It was completely random. It was horrible because I would get drops I couldn't use that others desperately wanted but I couldn't give it to them. There was also a chance that you would get a 'totem' in your loot list... Everyone's loot list was individualized. You could choose to pass it or not. You needed ten totems in total to get an Ifrit weapon... and because they were RARE, it could take a while... even if an LS was willing to pass all totems to one person.)
To be quite honest... I prefer how 2.0 works. Yes, it's random. Yes, it's frustrating. But at least someone gets something every time. Even if they don't have it leveled yet. My advice is to go with your linkshell so at least you're helping to gear your linkshell members even if you don't get the drop you want.
Sounds like the definition of random to me.
I expect that the distribution is even and that each weapon has the same chance to appear. One showing up more than others, though, is just the luck of the draw.
It would be nice to see the totem drops again, so that you can at least try to work on one via slow progress (it could be a chance drop at ~50% and follow the need/greed system). It was the most frustrating thing to do many runs and not see your weapon. Knowing that you can have a shot at progressing to it, though, is always a nice alternative.
I was 4 time Ifrit Hard
1 Run: WHM
2 Run: Dragon
3 Run: Monk
4 Run WHM there i got it
So random is random.
Some things never change...
Yea ive given up basically, moved onto just creating the relic.
But but.....I just got mine last night.
I'm more worried about the trolls who zone in with no gear on only to pull the boss and immediately drop group. I'll take random loot over folks wasting 30+ minutes of my life any time.
I am pretty sure this game is just healer racist. It is very rare in any instance that gear drops for my healer. I will repeat the same instance over and over and all that drops is dps and tank gear.
I am a Bard and did it 18 times last night never saw a a bow drop I did get a summoner book dragoon and scholar though
Wrote a quick random number simulator. Generating a random number between 1 and 8. The average person, will run Ifrit 21 times before seeing all 8 weapons drop.
After running the simulation 1,000,000 times the max number of attempts before seeing all random numbers was 130.
I did this after 15 ifrit drops, none of them being the paladin sword.
Running the same simulator assuming you want weapon X, the average number of attempts before you see your weapon is 7. The highest number in a simulation of 1 million scenarios was 101.
Assuming that this is all completely random of course and assumes equal weighting. But given the completely random nature, I would say 30-40 attempts is not out of the question of randomness, for the person who went 100 times, well that's statistically 1 in a million.
I've seen so many THM arms, Books, and the PLD swords, but never the Conjurer staff
Must have ran Ifrit 30+ times never seen my weapon drop (Monk) or a bow or a lance for that matter all and I mean ALL books and canes, did Garuda last night for the first time weapon drops on the first kill. Random indeed. Stastically most of these horror stories shouldn't even be possible lol.
*Looks at thread*
*Laughs*
*Walks out wondering if people know the law of large numbers*
I was lucky and got claws on my fourth run. /shrug
4 runs here, got SCH book through greed and my own weapon(MNK) in the 4th run.
so yeah, its luck, and apparently you don`t have it.
I was so unlucky trying to get Ifrit weapon... I ran it well over 30 times before getting mine... then I got my relic the same day >.>
On the bright side, I also ended up getting an Ifrit weapon for almost every other class that I have in my bag. Bow, claws, axe... I think everything but the sword and the bow... but I got a Garuda bow... so, yay.
got mine on 3rd or 4th try....¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Took me 40+ attempts to get my Ifrit sword and 3 to get my Garuda sword, rng is rng..
I have a little tip to get your weapon. Change your equipament to other job, make sure that is no one in the party playing the job that you want the weapon. Problem solved!
Oh wait, other tip is die as much as you can, stay afk... if you are PLD don't stun eruptions and for sure you will get your drop :P
Ermagerd guys, equal chance drop-rate is so UNFAIR. WHY DO I EVER HAVE TO DO ANYTHING MORE THAN ONCE? WHY DO I HAVE TO GRIND? WHERE IS MY RITALIN?
I did Ifrit more than 30 times and never seen Ifrit's Cane, I'd like to have it for my collection, even if I have Garuda's Wile.
Now I have: Ifrit's Codex (SMN), Garuda's Will (SMN), Garuda's Talons (MNK), Garuda's Wile (WHM)
And, here in Cerberus world, SMN weapons are the most common.
A friend of mine got his WAR weapon from Ifrit at run 120+
This is not random, this is wrong programming.
Not understanding % chances. The drop is random.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_large_numbers
Say there are 1m people that fight Ifrit. Of that 1m people, there will be some people who get their drop on the first win. There will also be people who do not get their drop for 100 wins. Does this make the percent chance of getting a drop any different? No. It is just the luck of the draw. Statistically speaking, it will average out across the player base, but it will never be "complete 10 runs and you're guaranteed to get a drop because there is a 10% drop rate". That is not how percentage odds work. It has nothing to do with programming, and everything to do with individual experience.
Just reading the title of this Ifrit (Hard) Weapon drop rate is a joke. I got a good laugh because truly ifrit HM has a 100% chance to drop a weapon.
random loot is random loot lol
On DPS class it is very possible to end up with 4 same class DPS example : x4 DRG
WTH , is SE thinking.. if Weapon did drop for DRG. you now have to Need Roll between 3 others.
How is this fair with only x 2 tanks and x2 healers are allowed in this dungeon ?
When their item drops and there are two PLD there is a 50% chance on roll.
Don't say this can't happen. On duty finder.. It finds all the DOOTY out there.
Most people leave if no BLM or SMN for limit break on the Nails.
If you want ridiculous drop rates, look at our Dragoon, who's currently rocking 7 or 8 pieces of Allagan.
I got my whm weapon from ifrit first try and my blm weapon from Garuda on my second try. Clearly drops are based on skill :)
Really though what's funny is I just got my relic plus 1 same day as Garuda wpn. Just get into a good FC that can do Titan.
I got the summoners book 6 times in a row now that is complete BS.
Random is indeed random. I've seen every other class weapon except paladin. and it's especially infuriating when you're reduced to a stun-bot because all you get anymore are warrior tanks. :(
