"Fixed" servers or new nightmare?

Not to start a flame war with the knights of white and their undying faith to that which is Square-Enix's farts but ever since the "fix" on September 4th not only have instance servers (Duty Finder) lagged a bit sporadically now there's a hidden Duty Finder wait because there are not enough instances ready. For tanks and healers it wont be a big problem. What's a ten minute wait but for DPS it's just longer they have to wait.

I would rather have a slightly long wait for Duty Finder than not be able to play. Being able to play in general is much more attractive, don't you agree? Plus, I think they are working on upgrading the Duty Finder servers, if I recall Yoshi's post at the top of this forum correctly.

A (maybe) 10 minute wait for people in Duty Finder or a completely broken game for probably half the population.

Which one of these is a "nightmare" ?

You see this problem in other games aswell that use same model, there is most of the time more dps then tank/healer so it is obvious there are queues for dungeons?

No, it's not a big deal and it doesn't bother too many people because the people who were making 23432984 threads about the servers are happy just to be playing. Oh lord a 10 minute long wait sound the alarms and alert the presses. Sorry but all those "SE fix your servers or we'll riot" threads left a bad taste in my mouth and this thread does just the same.

neither myself nor my two roommates have en countered this yet. I have heard a couple people in my groups claiming to have had it though.

Nope, everything's been fine since the maintenance. I'm a tank so I get in fairly quick, but there's been some things I had to wait for; the 8 mans for example. But no, no nightmares here :D Been smooth sailing!

This (too many instances) would be less of a problem if people didn't have the option to opt out of "already in progress" groups. Removing that option would not only help this, but it would prevent people from being stuck in duty finder for 10+minutes waiting for a tank to replace the one that left as soon as the dungeon started.

It might be the server you are on. I'm on Coeurl and have less than 1 min wait as a tank. Also probably depends on your level. I'm only 30, so more people are bunched around my level.

And when they fix that for you... what will you complain about next?

So its the weekend and yes the duty finder server does seem full (duty finder status shows full group), but waiting to dispatch or w/e for like 10min. This will be a minor issue for the weekends for a bit I think, but the Devs have confirmed plans for a 3rd DF server per data center already along with more worlds. It is on their minds, and we will see it added, just likely not as fast as the 2nd one as nothing is broken.

Another thing to consider is it is possible that the DF servers are not running at max number of instances available yet as they are still monitoring it to ensure it does not get overloaded and start giving more lag in instances

Didn't read your responses because I don't care but the Duty Finder now has an average wait time over 30 minutes. I'd rather the servers give me the 1017 error and be able to get a dungeon in a respectable time even with own server premades you still wait 20-30 minutes just for a instance.

This "fix" is alomst like trying to fix a leak with bubble gum. Sure it's going to alleviate the problem for now but ultimately it's a poor "fix".

Correction 30 or 40 min wait

Moving a problem from point A to point B is not fixing it.
Also if some one cancels it puts you back in line.

welcome to the wonderful world of dps....You are not special... There are many like you... Be prepared to wait... You think 10 mins is bad go play any other mmo and see HOW LONG it takes for DPS to get slots... After your done there please kindly come back and delete your thread.. Thanks

The fix definitely helped. Did it make everything perfect? No.
However, a 30 minute wait in DF is far preferable to being unable to make any progress at all.

i'm actually a WHM main. Even was a WHM i have to wait 30+ minutes for an instance to open up. my party is formed well within a minute.

Most of the time I get caught in a game of wait 20 minutes someone leaves and it resets your place in que so i've been waiting for an hour and a half for a dungeon only to just quit because other party members don't want to wait and it resets your place in line.
