Suggestion Regarding the Seeking Item on retainers/bazzars

So i have 2 retainers on the wards, 1 sells food (yeah im a culinarian :s) and the other one seeks ingredients, one thing that i would like to see on the Seeking for item dynamics its that if im seeking for lets say 5 oranges, and the person that found my retainer and wants to sell me oranges only has 3, make it so that he can give me 3 oranges instead of having to have 5 and the person cant sell me the 3 because hes missing 2!

it would be awsome if it could work like this

retainers ask for 5 oranges
person has 3 so he sell the 3 oranges
retainer is now looking for 2 oranges

what do you guys think ?

Makes sense to me. Is it not like that already? I don't really use seek item feature that much or see it used much.

yeah if you seek 5, the seller has to have 5 if it has less than 5 it cant sell it to you. oh and also add it to the search option so people can find what they want to buy and see if anyone would like to buy something you have for sale!

Like currently when you search for a item it will bring up all retainers that are selling the item.
Do you mean to add a list or window that shows all the retainers/players that have that item in bazaar as 'seek item'? (like a list of buyers) This would be nice. This would make more player to player meeting/trading.

yes this is exactly what i mean

I am in favor of both of the ideas here. I would go further and say that I need to be able to seek items of which I currently have none, and in any quantity I wish.

LOL YES. This is stupid we cannot do this. I mean think about it. The reason I seek an item is most likely because I don't have it. If we don't have it and cannot seek the item then...WTF

Yeah, that's the reason why I don't use this feature...because I would already have the item!

I truly believe the fixing the seek item feature is the single biggest thing that SE can do to improve the market system (note, I did not say 'economy', as many other things have to happen additionally to improve economy as a whole).

For those that insist on "AH", providing a single point interface to buy, utilizing the current buy/sell mechanisms, won't substantially improve what is available on the market.

The majority of dropped/gathered gear should not be sold to NPCs. With a proper seek item feature, these items could be sold to players instead (excepting 'junk' items).

Fixing 'seek item' entails:

• Needing only one bazaar slot to seek an item instead of two
• Sought items are searchable (and ideally integrated with offered items search screen)
• Seek item orders can be partially fulfilled (e.g. seeking 99, can buy 2 and still am seeking 97)
• Can seek for items that are not currently owned

I would personally be fine with dropping the "seek item in exchange for other item", as it makes the search function more complicated, and avoids the tax system (thus by-passing one of the few gil sinks in game).

Lets take the suggestion to the next level.
Player Contract System
Players can place orders with an NPC asking for any item in the game at a certain price = Contract
Other players can view these contracts and select to fulfill them through the NPC.
On fulfillment, the person who put out the contract can collect the items at the NPC or through a mail system.

-> This system can be implemented as part of/like/in place of an Auction House System - Player Convenience
-> Or with the individual guilds, in which case, it can be added to the current guild task board with a better UI of course - Realism
