just wondering because i dont currently have a USB keyboard so making an xbox live party is the only option i have for simple communication atm.

I do but hardly ever play it on PS3 or use my xbox 360 anymore.
Some things you could do is go out and buy a usb keyboard, you could fine one that just does the necessities that works for you for like $10, or you could tether your phone, if you have one, to skype or something for free. -
