I love the game and the quest lore is so great, but is there a reason why there are scenes with voice acting, and other scenes without?
I mean, in comparison to games like Guild Wars 2 where every NPC speaks, shouldn't this be a modern MMO...
I know I've heard some people say, they prefer the reading of quests, ok, I get that. For those I'd say there would be a mute or no speaking option.
But it feels strange, as if it was a bug that there are some scenes with Voice Acting. I mean, you don't hire voice actors per scene, usually it's a day session or even hourly. It feels as the audio is compiled just not in the game... Which is pretty dumb as many of us are approaching 50 and at the end of the main story.
I'd love some discussion on this, as to make SE and Yoshi-P aware that this is a concern for some players. I know I can't be the only one that wish for full VA accross the board, main, quests, even when I click on an NPC.
Don't ya think?

It's expensive man...
There's already Japanese, English, German and French voice overs; all for the same dialogue.
That and it takes resources from the studio to do this, monetary, time and manpower.
And they already said that VOs would only be in important eye catching scenes. -

YEa its very disjointed having one story quest voiced and the next not, hell some quests have half voiced and then all of a sudden switch to text only, SE don't have any excuses for this either it wouldn't be that expensive to voice the main story.

So expensive*4. Also, the sound files for the voice acting are absolutely massive. They are why SWTOR was a 20gig download at launch. It wouldn't have been inexpensive or easy for them to have done this.Quote:

long names might cause a problem or difficult names.
seen a lalafell named Crowwwwwwwwwwww Wwwwwwwwwwwwwww that might translate to CrowDoubleUDoubleUDoubleUDoubleUDoubleUDoubleUDoubleUDoubleUDoubleUDoubleUDoubleU lips would stop moving before end of CS was over, or will extend CS time during instance battles making more people grumpy. -

I'd rather have no voice acting in the game if it means that they're able to release content at a reasonable rate. Look at swtor where they full voice everything and how much that drags things down. Without voicework it's much simpler to just drop quests or content in the game so hopefully that's how it goes.

I noticed the lack of voice over at first but I'm used to it now. I read pretty quickly as well so normally I skip the voice over once I've read what they are going to say unless something important is going on.

Well I know I'm not too far into the game yet but I've noticed that there are definitely alot of filler quests and cut scenes that really don't require any voice acting.

Oh boy, the "changes" in the subtitles sometimes make me want to cry. The Japanese text is just so superior.
