Whoa whoa whoa, I take it that Tyrant is shopped? Never seen anything of the like wandering down there.
Though if they open up that volcano region north of LL I want to see BIG Iron Giants : )
Hands down, Tonberry. Randis's background got me all sentimental about them, and their evil backstabbing.
I miss seeing mandies running around, but you seem to want more intimidating foes. I always liked lamia and the different versions of her.
Mandragoras and Cait Siths
I'd love to see a host of mobs make appearances in XIV in unique ways, but please don't go all XI on me and crap on the original designs. Man I despised XI cactuars...and I still kind of wish XIV cactuars were more true to the quirky nature of the fiends.
But I digress here is my list of mobs I would love to see. *Click name for pic*
Iront Giant
Coeurl
Ochu *feel free to redesign the guy but he is a mob we see in most FF games I'd love to them back again*
Tonberry
Sandworm
Last but not least, we need to pay homage to the master.
ULTROS!
I'd love to see all sort of monsters start roaming the areas we can explore, and I pray to the lords that none of them become "Exclusive monsters" you only see in instanced areas -_-
Tonberrys
Behemoths
And they MUST make a Jumbo Cactuar/Jabotender NM!
Tonberryes, Mandragoras, Behemoths and... huge Dragons (Fafnir anyone?).
Kappa the Imp
Behemoth
? - Massive Wyrms / Dragons
Iron Gigant
Tonberry
Atma / Omega Weapon (FF6)
Giant Cactuar
Dullahan & Didalos (FF6)
Zone Eater - Sandworm (FF6)
And finally
Ultros !
What people have posted above.
Also, I think these would make you reconsider opening random chests you find...Mimics!!!

It'd be cool to have a giant Adamantoise wandering around Coerthas or maybe Thanalan's plains like they do in FFXIII. Besides that, I'd like to see some of the odd looking monsters from FFVIII and FFVII like those floating pinwheel looking monsters.
As much as I would say that I like to see more scary monsters, you have to keep in mind it still has to be in the same atmosphere as the rest of FFXIV. I rather say I like to see an expansion of the already created bestiary especially Beast Tribes, Wavekin and Ashkin.
Maybe later on they can introduce a new category of beastiary along with the Garlean Empire. Like sort of mutant monsters or tamed beasts. I also think they should focus the higher lvl monsters to become more monster like and less cute or innocent looking.
What I personally like as monsters are:I got this all from European especially slavic mythology. It could be a great source of inspiration for an original game.
- Topielec or drowners
Quote:
The topielec are spirits of human souls that died drowning, residing in the element of their own demise. They are responsible for sucking people into swamps and lakes as well as killing the animals standing near the still waters.
- A bukavac would be quite cool for higher lvl lakes
Quote:
Bukavac was sometimes imagined as a six-legged monster with gnarled horns. He lives in lakes and big pools, coming out of the water during the night making big noise, jumping onto people and animals and strangling them.
- Lady Midday or Pscipolnitsa, I would find such a thing awesome to see between Gridania or Thanalan or a similar but higher lvl area.
Quote:
Pscipolnitsa, who makes herself more evident in the middle of hot summer days, takes the form of whirling dust clouds and carries a scythe or shears, but it is likely that the shears would be of an older style, and not akin to modern scissors. She will stop people in the field to ask them difficult questions or engage them in conversation. If anyone fails to answer a question or tries to change the subject, she will cut off their head or strike them with illness.
- Baba Yaga a special NM mob for Gridania.
Quote:
She flies around on a giant pestle, kidnaps (and presumably eats) small children, and lives in a hut that stands on chicken legs.
I also must say I'm not at all an expert on Final Fantasy game, infact this is my first Final Fantasy game.
On a side note; it would be cool if humanoid enemies could actually talk or say certain things during battle.
And if certain animals would appear only in nighttime and others in daytime. But I'm aware this would be very difficult to implement now. But I would like it.
i surely would like to see them make more new monsters.
they did a great job with some of FFXIV's mobs, especially the beastmen tribes.
other than new monsters i'd like to see behemoths & tonberrys return, they are my favs.
I think they need to redesign the types of monsters you find in the main areas. They probably have loads of monsters up their sleeve but have not released them. If i were to choose monsters that are not beastmen....
- Lizard type mobs (ones from Gustaberg)
- Spiders (ones from Altepa Desert)
- Flies (ones from Valkurm)
Am I right in saying I seen some screenshots of the flies in a magazine about a year ago on ffxiv?
MANDAGORAS!!!!! That would be amazing! Zus and big behemoths would be nice too.
Need more Dinosaurs and big lizards!
Wild Chocobos :P
Beastmen tribes, Orcs, Yugado, Quadav things like that, demons were awesome in xarcabard, crawlers, gloems, basically they need to add a ton of more mobs in my opinion.
i think behemoth will come for sure soon, if you bought the CE there is concept art for the behemoth in the Notebook that came with it, looks like a awesome classic behemoth.
i kinda miss the mandies lol
Mandragoras (FFXI) <3
Yagudo
and those cute short lizards n__n (the ones in Valkurm Dunes, Gustaberg etc.)
Oh how I miss them so~
...I'd like to see new monsters...
Manbearpig!
Anything that aggros and doesn't leash after chasing you for 5 seconds.
If they are using summons as boss monsters, I want some of the more obscure ones, like quetzalcoatl, asura, seraph, kujata, hades, etc.
I'd like to see Behemoth, A Giant Cactuar King NM, Tonberry they are the coolest, Wyverns, T-Rex like FFXII and FVIII, i'd like to see a Hydra for tactical purposes, Marmot Queen a giant marmot that is the source of the marmot infestation, OMEGA WEAPON as end Game or has it's on Story like Garlean empires unholy weapon, Garlean empire soldiers or beast.
Final Fantasy VI
Rhinotaur, Hadesgigas, Allosaurus
VII
Gremlin, Joker, Magic Pot
VIII
Anacondaur, Armadodo, Caterchipllar, Elastoid (How cool was he), Fastitocalon, Grat
X
Grendel, Wendigo, Ochu (Where is he, I know he has to be in XIV somewhere), Iron Giant (Where are you big guy?), Chimera, Sand Worm, Coeurl, Behemoth, Barbatos, Adamantoise
XII
Entites (A good compliment to elementals), All the gators (i.e. Wooly Gator), All the tortoise, all the horse like mobs (i.e. Sleipner), Huge birds like Zu and Wu, Humbaba
Good idea.. and I think it would please a LOT of people
I'd like to see Quetzacoatl vs Ramuh for the title of Thunder GOD
Some others i remember and i would like to see: Lamia, Magic Pot, Mind Flayer, Iron Giant and Ultima Weapon of course.
Also Zuu huge bird from FF4 and Shinryu the crystal dragon from 5, would be cool too.
Someone say shinyru?

I quite like this version.
(Yet even more proof XIV ignoring XI was a bad idea instead of building off of it lol.)
I'm probably the only person who loved these and would like to see them again :o

OK, that was awesome. I really don't know how else to describe it. Thank you for the link.
I started XI in 2004 and played for a little over a year. I quit and then came back two years later. After that I played on and off until last year (much more "off" than "on" at the end).
You know, when I first installed XI I imagined having the kind of experiences like I saw in that video. Not all the time, of course, but I wanted the kind of epic, story-driven boss battles that helped make the Final Fantasy series great. In the end, I spent a great deal of time running around mines, crafting, and killing the same mob over and over.
It may sound like I'm trying to put down XI or disagree with the person I quoted. Not at all. Actually, I have really good memories of XI. Also, I'm partially at fault for how I played the game: my priorities were a little off. Nevertheless, I felt like the really cool experiences were always a little too far out of reach. At first I was too low level, so I leveled up, and I mined and crafted to earn money for gear and spells. Once I was a high enough level, however, it was usually very hard to find a group to do the missions. When I did do them they were great: one of my fondest memories of XI was beating the original Shadow Lord. But unfortunately I only ever got to rank 9, halfway through Zilart, halfway through Promathia, and only having started the Aht Urhgan and Wings of the Goddess missions. That is what I regret most of all about the time I spent playing XI.
I've heard that XI has become more accessible, which sounds like a good thing. And the video that Elexia posted indicates that they have put some really amazing content in there. That was a real Final Fantasy battle: the enemy design, the battlefield, and the music work together to make something that's much more epic than just fighting a mob. That's the kind of thing I want out of my Final Fantasy game.
No, I don't expect battles like that to happen all the time. They wouldn't be quite as special if they did. And I want to fight a boss like that in a group, not solo. I just hope that it's not too hard to put that group together. I certainly don't mind losing--no challenge is no fun--but I want to spend my time playing compelling content, not sitting around hoping that I might get a chance to play it.
I think that the FFXIV dev team will eventually get exciting content into this game. I just don't know how long it will take, or if the battle, job, and party formation systems will work out. I certainly hope so, though.
Anyway, that was really off-topic (sorry). To make this post at least somewhat relevant to the title of the thread...
1) Hell House (FFVII -- found inside Midgar)
I guess it would be difficult to find an area where these would fit in, though. Maybe somewhere in the Garlean Empire?
2) Mind (from the final area of FFIV)
3) Ozma (FFIX)
4) any of the Weapons (FFVII)
I would like to see RABBITS! I am tired of squirrels.
This video has so many amazing FF creatures. I'd love to see some of these or variations of them!
Wymns, Turtles, Iron Horse things etc.
