So I have a main character on adamantoise and for the sake of variation I want another character on the same server. I had this character made but I decided against how he looked before I started playing. So I deleted my old character and immediately loaded the new one with the different appearance. When I went to choose a server it said that adamantoise was not taking any new characters at this time.
I have tried a few times since then and no luck. I still want another character but obviously on the same server. Is this a temporary restriction or is this server actually at max? Are servers actually locking out players by the character and not by the account? Seems insanely stupid since I can only be playing one at any given time.
Cannot create another character on same server!

just keep a close eye on the server yesterday i stayed on the on the server selection page of character creation updating every 30 min or so through the day different servers were opening and closing but the server i wanted eventaully became open

Are they ever gonna release these restrictions permanently or are they just gonna wait for more people to leave the game? I am a very patient person but I must say that even I am getting tired of the restrictions. Never have I seen a game with so many restrictions that wasn't FTP. People are going to be leaving in droves once they have to start paying for the game and I think that is what they are waiting for. But even in a free to play game where your character creation is down to 2 characters, you can still create new characters as long as you delete 1 of them. You can't even do that here. They allowed 8 characters per person per server and most people can't even make more than 1 on the same server. It is ridiculous.

I only deleted him because I wanted the same name. Should have just kept the ugly one...
Or maybe SE can just stop being stupid and allow players with characters already on a server to create more. -

Looks like the restriction is lifted (at least for now). I just created a new character.

Actually I am not sure what subscriptions people have but when you have the base one that is something like 12 dollars a month you are only allowed one character (unless you are a legacy player) per server, that character can of course have as many professions/jobs etc as you are willing to lvl with. The 15 dollar a month sub that is the usual cost of most mmo's lets you make as far as I know 8 different looking characters per server.

I know it's not an answer but i'm sure servers will open up regularly soon. I'm assuming they have to open them up and give everyone time to move around make new characters before they start selling the game again. That's gonna be a whole other set of issues itself.

What's comically insulting is that as I wait around refreshing the server menu in hopes that Cactuar won't be greyed out, the text on the left side keeps reminding me that if I "have made plans to play FF14 with friends, make sure that you all select the same one." I understand that people have been waiting longer than I have to create a character, but a restriction of more than a day or two is ridiculous. If I'm unable to make a character until next week, I'm not going to want to play the game any more. At this point, I kind of would rather just have a refund than sit around refreshing the server list at all hours during the night / early morning hoping to justify the money that I spent.Quote:
