For those having problems with RCN - Chat log with customer service Rep.

Looks like they are aware of the issue and are trying to fix it. Hope this brings some comfort for the RCN customers who are experiencing lag and error 90k...

Thanks for this! RCN in Chicago and the last few days have been brutal... On the plus side I've been able to gather a lot since it's about the only thing I can do...

This is great news.

Anyways from this it seems that we just have to wait for RCN to change it?
A little strange that this is happening now though and not before. Maybe Square enabled some kind of system to help with the lag and the ISPs are tagging it.

Thanks for letting us know. In the meantime I am using the VPN gate work around until RCN can resolve it.

I've tried using a VPN to get around it, but no luck. I use Open VPN.

I only used that VPN Gate referred by the folks on this forum. Had to go through 3 servers before I found one that works.

I am using US server 67.168.91.158.

But does this alleviate the issue?

RCN is the best service I've ever had. I'm in DC and it was an easy choice between them and Comcast.

It does for me. It adds some latency but nothing like the lag I went through in the 2nd to last main scenario instance last night. I wouldn't even consider trying the last instance with my FC due to the lag. I don't consider this a true fix, but it is playable for now.

Yeah, RCN is pretty boss.

The fact that they knew this game was having problems showed they are on it. I've heard more communication about this from them than Yoshi P I must say, but since I'm paying RCN and not Yoshi P yet, it's fine.

I know it isn't RCN because beta and first launch, I had zero problems either logging in or staying logged in. After patch, I couldn't even stay logged in for few minutes. It's better now because it stretched out to 45 minutes before 90000, then I get to stretch legs then come back and fish some more.

I guess I'll have to thank SE; if it wasn't for code 90000, I wouldn't have touched my fishing at all. Now I'm nearing 20 so I won't have to buy much fish from the market after a bit.

I have RCN in the DC area as well, but I haven't encountered any problems playing FFXIV on the PS3, except for some occasional lag. Can someone bring me up to date on the issue? My character is located on a European server.

Which program are you using? I've tried spotflux but the server it automatically redirects me to doesn't work. I've tried using an other IP like the server you're giving but it seems it won't let me use it unless I give it a port as well. =/

I'm also a RCN user in the DC area. My husband and I are definitely having lag problems. Nothing constant, but staggered enough in 5 - 10 minute intervals, which almost always end up with one of us getting booted by the 90000 error after a half an hour or hour. Considering how we've never had lag problems (and didn't until this SE update,) it obviously is just this game. I just finished talking to a service representative and they too said they're aware of the issue. They just wanted my address so they could add it to their resources as they attempt to fix the problem.

<3 RCN. So glad we went with them and not Comcast.

Just saw that thread! Thanks for letting me know though! Hopefully everything gets fixed on Square's end. It doesn't seem to be RCN's problem.

Just tried loggin in, nothing yet, but hopefully they will have it fixed by the end of the weekend :(. I will try chatting with customer service again tomorrow...

I just had a similar chat with RCN before finding this thread. Here is a snippet from the log with more detailed information as well as a recommendation to use a VPN client:

17:25Jackie S.: We are aware of the problem customers have been experiencing. Our engineers have investigate the problem and found the issue is between ORMUCO-WebHost) and ONAM.
17:26Jackie S.: Since this is not an RCN related issue, we do not have an estimate of when you can expect a resolution. I apologize for the inconvenience.
17:27Jackie S.: We were receiving lots of comments about it so we made sure to look into it.
17:28Jackie S.: If you connect through a VPN, you may be able to get through. Unfortunately RCN can not provide techinical support for a non-RCN issue.

I live in Chicago and my local friends playing with RCN service are also experiencing the issue. Good to hear it's at least been acknowledged by my ISP and they've located where the trouble is emanating from.

Great to see that you had the same response from them. What gets me a little worried is that since it isn't an RCN issue, they do not have the motivation to actually fix this thing for us. I do know however that once they find the cause of the problem they will fix it, that I am pretty sure of.

Just wanted to give an update based on my live chat today. They are still aware of the problem, however I was told that they don't have any "updates" at this time. I was also told that they are still working on solving the issue, and that the problem lies with Final Fantasy, not the ISP.

So everything has been fantastic for me here in Boston. Not using VPN, haven't lagged or R0'd all day today and yesterday. Anyone else?

Has been fairly stable yesterday and today for me. Haven't tried an instance or dungeon yet though. I am on RCN Lehigh Valley.

same basic area I've been basically fine since Friday. No 90k errors but a few <1 second bits of lag.

Also RCN lehigh valley area and have been able to play last night and today without any lag spikes or disconnects.
