Visibility of void-zones

Well....
I reay get in trouble with this void zones.....
The first time i have noticed that there are some void-zones i cant see was in the first lvl50 8ppl duty... I just keep dying in some fire-aoe...
Then, today in Amdapor, 2nd Boss..... nothing. Cant see any of his areas of effect...

Does anyone have similar problems of the visibility of these void-zones?
Maybe there is a setting in my grafic-options or something....
Pls help me.... this is so anoying....

I dont know how "english-ppl" call its :D

Ah, gotcha. Yeh I think most of the English people call those AoE (literally short for Area of Effect as you put). Thanks for explaining, at least we'll know now if anyone uses that wording in future :)

Sorry that I don't have an answer to your question though other than perhaps try updating your graphics card drivers maybe.

It's not a similar situation I wonder to those sprites you need to kill in one of the earlier dungeons before they reach an bonfire in the center? (or fire damage to all allies) or like Ifrit's nail?

i.e., is it something that hits the entire screen providing you don't destroy/damage/interact with a target before a certain point?

Well, im using a AMD Radeon HD 6800, and also the AMD VISION Engine Control Center, do get the optimal grafix settings in all my games.
It also automaticly updating the drivers, so this cant be the problem...

Yeah, its exactly this thing.
I cant even see these sprites, i just can target them because of there Name-Bar. Also the fire, wind and lightning sprits in the open world, i just can see there names, but there is no skin....
I think this is connected to the problem of the visibility of the AOE-Zones...

In WoW certain bosses had attacks literally called 'Void Zone' but it was not the general term used for harmful AoE effects. Aside from that example, when I think of 'void zone' I think of the area underneath the world that is often reachable in many MMOs due to slightly incomplete maps/exploiting.

Anyway, the TC is talking about harmful AoE effects by bosses, you can think of the term 'void zone' simply as 'the place you don't want to be standing during the fight'.

The most universal term for this, while being less generic than 'AoE', is simply: The Fire. Don't stand in the fire!

The only issue I've had with the AoE circles is in water. i.e. The Eft boss in Brayflox. It's hard to see the red circle underneath the water, so you have to watch for a cast bar. I'm hoping they can somehow overlay the targeting circle over the environment somehow.

If u still wodering about the word "void-zone", its just a "short" for of the word "avoid", its a zone, u shoudl avoid to stand in, so germans generaly just call it void-zone^^

But pls back to my problem.... if i cant find a solution, i will be unable to do any boss in the endgame....

Aha! 'Avoid'-zone! I don't know why I didn't think of that.

Sorry for not being more helpful about your actual problem, lets see... have you tried running the game at maximum settings to see if you can see the harmful attacks then? If you still can't even on max settings, try manually updating your video card drivers or maybe even rolling them back since I've seen a lot of graphics issue topics where apparently going back to earlier drivers seems to do the trick. If you CAN see the harmful attacks at max settings, then there must be some setting that you don't have set high enough to see these effects. When I used to have a fairly junk computer when playing WoW, my settings were low enough that some mage spells showed NO visible effects - it really became a problem in PvP. Particle effects I think was the main thing I had to set higher... but I don't think FFXIV has such an option - in fact, it has very few options >_<

Hrm... What exact bosses did you have that problem with?
Certain bosses, such as the midboss and last boss in Qarn have weird tells for their AoEs, such as you only see a flash of red wave by the screen when the midboss uses his scream and there are literal glowing pathways of light when the adds are about to fire their lasers in the last boss, and not a single tell when the adds will use the mapwide AoE. And Titan's field-breaking attack has the AoE marker on the edges that will fall off the field, and not everywhere where it'll hit (because he will hit everything)

At times, what Orophin said happens, there will be areas of the environment that simply make it very hard to see the AoE marker, and some other moves such as Ifrit's eruptions have very different markers as well.

If you are 100% sure you're not running in those situations, report back. That might be a real technical problem OR a bug.

Already tried the highes setting, but then the game just freeze and crash :D
So i hoped to find anyone with the same, or a similar problem who now how to fix it.....
Or is it possible that there are some grafic skinns missing in my game-direction? Like the launcher forget to load something?

Yeah, im totaly shure i not just overlooked them...
Its the second boss in Amdapor, the "wall".
My party-mates tell me, there should be a deep violet zone in the middle of the way, and after that there should be 2 of there zone on the edge of the way.
So u should fist of all stand at the edge, and after the first zone u walk in the middle.
Btw, the ground is yellow/brown, so it should not be possible to overlook a violet field.....

Did you try disabling these settings? I would try letting the game manage its own settings.

Yep, tried it without the Engine Control Center, same stuff...
