For god sakes quitting on the first or second wipe. How are any of us going to finish the story? Yes I can ask my FC for help but I just want to get it over with quickly without waiting for them to be available to do it.

It may get better when there are more videos online and step-by-step instructions for each class, and descriptions of the gear to use.
they have mental illness my friend. if they have to work for it, its too much and they cant take it.
Let people figure out that they need to gear up first and actually get down the strategy.
I had several guys who were 1.0 players and said they could "wing it" and ran in without listening to the full strategy.
I also had an Archer pull out of impatience, kill everyone... then the time we all actually attacked, he was the first to die from the first AoE.
I hope it'll get better once the initial rush to "see all content" is over.
People give up way too easily, or blame someone else for the wipes. You'll find that rarely do people take responsibility for their own mistakes and do nothing to try to correct the issues.
It sucks but thats just the way it is. You'll get it though, I believe in you!
So where are the people claiming the game is too easy?
my guess they are quitting the intstance to come onto the forums and cry for the encounter to be nerfed.
i hope they don't nerf things, stuff have been almost too easy as is... will probably have my relic weapon tonight :\
I actually got lucky and had a lot of groups that were willing to give it 10+ tries and try to learn the fight on our own before I finished it. I was queueing for it for quite a while after I had completed the fight and trying to help other ppl finish it as well. I got frustrated when sooo many people would leave after 2 or 3 tries. People today are just not willing to put in the work. Now I just help run FC members through it.
They're probably young. No patience for trial and error. The "I want it right now" generation.
I did not have fun with the fight as summoner. She kept wanting to attack me all the time and I kept dying all the time. I felt bad for the DF group I was with.
Then later I tried it again as a WAR and finally finished it. But one thing I noticed was that if I didn't get enough hate right away, she would always make her way towards attacking our WHM, and always the WHM first, even if no one else was doing anything. Not sure if she likes going after mages, or just people with lower HP.
Last night I tried it as SMN44 for the first time. We fought her twice; the first time we wiped after she broke a bunch of the pillars and the second when she one-shotted the whm and I couldn't raise him. The pld started swearing up a storm towards the whm saying things like "If you're not going to d your ****ing job then ****ing leave you dumb sack of ****ing ****." The maturity of some people amazes me... PERSONALLY, I enjoyed the fight, the music, the area and will most likely continue doing it even after clear (I can say that as I haven't spent days trying to kill her...) Oh well, better luck tonight I hope!
For some reason I didn't find this fight hard at all. Managed to beat it on second try too. It's too bad some people ragequit after they fail the first time.
I want to blame this on World of Warcraft:cool:
This kind of thing never happens in Ff11
Garuda normal fight kinda similar like it's counterpart back in 1.0 with minor twist here and there which basically has similar tackle with the older strategy.
But I have to admit that this is the 1st time I have hard time getting past it using DF. In the end, I joined with ls mates and took several tries to familiarize her moves and get it done.
I remember back when doing Titan. We all admit we're new and we failed many times. But in the end, we won with perseverence and it is really fun. ^^
In the end, DF still helps quite well. Not always, but fun in it's own way. Just need a willing to learn together, helps if we all assume that we're beginners and not trying to boast stuff. :)
want a tip from me?
use DPS limit when she say floppy phrase she will use Aerial Blast after
means she wont spawn the 3rd wave of feathers that are far from each
means saving both pillars and taking less dmg
just wait untill Garuda Hard XD ppl are such Babies and leave after 1 or 2 wipes XD
what about thouse players who got relic weapons already? they just join hard fight to troll, tank fooling around or healer/dps just insult every one and try act cool and not try do boss fight.
some times tis game have worse community then WoW.
SE should add another requirement on primals (and hard mode primals too) for item level. We keep ending up with players with very much lower item level than our.
And this is why I call Garuda the Gatekeeper of Final Fantasy 14 ARR.
Garuda basically test players in the three trinity of a prepared character: gear, role, and patience.
If the player does not have all 3 traits then they will never get past Garuda.
Gear - being properly geared for the fight
Role - knowing your class/job role and what you need to do.
Patience - have the resolve to keep trying again until you win and wait out certain stages of the fight so you can start attacking the boss again.
I'll admit it was very challenging at first. I had 3 groups disband on me before I found a group that stayed together. Aside from the Bard who thought he could sponge her AoEs it went smoothly, and I even admitted to messing up (that LB timing is hard for me to get perfect), but trial, error and repetition are what make us better players. You have no idea how satisfying it is when she finally dies.
All I can say is pray for a tank who knows where to pull her and dodge her avoidable skills (1.5k avoided + stun takes a load off the healer), and dps that know how to dodge the attacks that can be dodged.
Had a Russian tank that had no clue what the rest of us were saying and we still cleared it after 5 tries.
Patience is gold.
Beat it on 3rd try tonight, was tank with an LS mate healer. Not too hard for the DPS to mess up in that situation. All it takes is paying good attention, and having decent gear. You dont even need to sell your soul just have some decent level 44-46 equipment that could even be market bought or quested.
Hell you have 4/5 AF by that level.
You have level 44 weaps from GC that's cheap as dirt and more than good enough.
If you have all of these resources, the "gear gate" some cite is easily passed. All you then need to do is have basic deducing skills and =pay attention=. Even with Australian latency we could both get behind rocks flawlessly.
If all else fails watch a video of people on youtube.
If this is possible its because people think about what they are doing. People reading this should realize it as well.
Well, the strategy i have seen and done but failed each time:
8 Man Party (Duh)
2 tanks - 1 MT 1 OT.
DPS - 4
Healers - 2
Tanks - 1MT other OT.
DPS - Focus Garuda, Then focus plumes
WHM/Sch - Focus MT, party heals if needs be after % , 1 may holy to help but shouldnt be needed with the correct people.
Phase 1 - Same lv44 Battle except for 3 teleports, N, Mid, E.
Phase 2 - (Ends at the reckoning) - Gather at NW, 1 MT for Garuda, 1 OT for 1 Sister, DPS flame other sister, healers use Medica II and then focus heals when safe to do so, if not, use Medica II and save shroud for this moment due to healer aggro.
Phase 3 - Gather Mid, focus garuda, focus sister spawn, Medica II heals, flame green sister, flame red. flame garuda.
rinse.
Thats what ive seen mostly.. + id recommend Darklight gear to a high degree.. lv45 relic just doesnt have the defense or stats needed. + Ifrit/lv50 weapon.
I'm all for challenging content in this game. I'm happy things are difficult later on of course like many others are. What irritates the hell out of me though is waiting 40+ minutes in Duty Finder just to try once, wipe, people complain and bitch about one another, then leave. Literally every time I've tried this battle that happens. Why sign up for Duty Finder and have the expectation that miraculously all 8 people are going to be pros at it and nail it the first time, really? It's called HARD MODE for a reason, not to just be conquered immediately by anyone entering the fight. Ragequitters... do the community a favor and please do not sign up for a primal HM with 7 other randoms and expect a flawless completion. Do that crap with your Free Company or friends so they can put up with that (even though I doubt they will). Referring to hard mode Garuda in my case.
There should be a limit for (rage) quitting during these kinds of missions
i was luckily got into a (two, actually) group with handful of people
my first group got wiped a LOT, but we tried and tried
until one of us broke all of their armor, then we know that's the limit then we bid farewell
my second group is also filled with good people
we failed several times but not giving in
in the end, we made it
that feeling..
A simple solution would be to make it so if you search youre automatically looking for in progress groups too since you can always turn them down if you do not wish to join at their current stand in the dungeon
My first group wiped the entire 90 minutes but no one left. The 2nd group I ran I grabbed a healer from my FC. The first group wiped because our healer couldn't handle Garuda's Slipstream attack hitting me for 2.5k. I was also slightly undergeared. So I leveled to 45 (1 more level) and got my AF gear, but earrings from GC Quarter Master and grabbed a healer from the FC and qued back up. I had to reexplain the fight, and we wiped 5 times, but we got it down finally. Felt really good. Was the first encounter that was actually challenging.
People need to stop ragequitting in general.
I don't think some people realize that the randoms you get matched with can be first-timers inside a particular dungeon or instance. If these types of players want "pros or experience players" they should search for them inside their respective server or ask their friend(s) to join them.
Wait, is the OP referring to story or hard mode? I just finished story mode last night and it was cake. If anyone played Tera, Garuda was very familiar to Kelsaik's Nest. Easy as cake. And we all love cakes. Can't comment on hard mode cuz well...i'm not up there yet. xD
