This Game Has Destroyed My PS3 !!!!

Thank you Square Enix for the lovely error filled game ..........

With the constant in-game freeze's where I had to hard reset ( only way to start PS3 back up again ) , my PS3 won't even load up anymore...............

Green light comes on but instant freeze before anything loads up ........

Won't even access safe mode.......

Have tried changing hard drive but to no avail still same problem.

Any idea's what I can do guys ?

I'm thinking of filling a lawsuit as a defective product it has screwed up my PS3.

I would probably contact Sony about doing a factory restore.

It's time for a new ps3 I run this game on mine and have no issues... Unless you AFK'd (which would still be your fault).. When the game freezes thats your system not being able to process it not the game...

Sounds like it overheated...had lots of dust in it...same thing happened with my Ps3 when I played a demo of Dragon Age 2...

My PS3 was working fine until FF14 was installed all started with a few freeze's here and there and gradually became unplayable and now PS3 wont load.........( I even checked before by playing a different game which ran fine no freez's etc for a good 2 hours but as soon as i switched back to FF14 ..... 15 mins later freeze again....... I dont see how a factory restore would help as I have installed a new HDD but still PS3 wont load....

A new HDD wouldn't help if it is somehow a firmware issue. But ya maybe its fried but I doubt the game could cause that.

With PS4 around the corner , im really in no mood to spend money on PS3 when i know I will be buying the PS4 as soon as it comes out.

I'm thinking of getting the PC version as it will be cheaper to buy a game than a console but love the feeling of playing on control pad.

I left the FFXIV on overnight and had no issues what so ever. I think you had a failing system and this is a far fetched ploy to get a new one from a software company. Contact Sony as they are the only one who can help you.

You can play with a gamepad on the PC version too.

Your ps3 went to crap because it was already on its way out.

I know that "control pad" feeling too. You can get a 20-30 buck logitech wireless controller for your PC if you go that route. Thats how I played for the longest time on both ffxi and ffxiv. Hope you get your ps3 situated or fixed =<

You can even use your ps3 controller on the PC with the right drivers.

FFXIV is actually the most stable game I've played on the PS3. Game all day, not a single freeze. It's only ever happened once, and that was during phase 3 beta.

I think your PS3, like others have mentioned, was probably on its way out to begin with. It just so happens you were running ARR when it did.

The only software you would need are the drivers. If you want to use your ps3 controller you would have to find the drivers for it online..its a little tricky to setup as the ps3 controller wasnt intended to be used this way but it can be done.

Oh and it would have to be plugged in to the USB..definitely can't hook it up witelessly

Xbox controllers work on the comp too and without drivers... also the ending result of you ps3 crash is probably how you take care of your ps3. If you dont put it somewhere where dust can't get to it and clean it regularly it won't happen.

PS3 controller works flawless wireless using a Bluetooth dongle and motioninjoy. Battery lasts about 12-14 hrs. Same as ps3. Dongle costs $20. Software is free download.

My ps3 freezes and I can't figure out why. I bought it 09 I believe waiting for 14 to come out. I don't think I played it more than 50 hours since I bought it before 14 finally released. The ps3 bottom gets very very warm and freezes about twice a day. I took it apart down to what I could without the torx screwdrivers and blasted the piss out of it with air. Same problem. Seems like maybe the HDD is trying to write and somewhere has a corruption perhaps? Doing a full system restore to see if it helps. Next option is buying a laptop cooling pad and see if it helps. Not dumping money into fixing an obsolete machine. I'll keep you posted if the full format system restore works.

I think your PS3 gave up the ghost man just because it's probably just old y'know? Old ass system lmao. I say wait for PS4 or play

It sounds like your PS3 was on it's last legs to begin with. I can count on one hand the number of freezes I've had with FFXIV. I've had plenty of issues, but that ain't one.

i can actualy believe this. was lucky enough to stumble into the odin event the other day. and the whole event literaly became a slideshow for my pc. the game couldnt even render half the models properly.
GTX680, 8gb ram, i7@ 2.93.

now stop and think how this sort of situation would strain an 8 year old console. you think thats healthy for the hardware lol?!

Just google Motion-in-Joy - hook Your PS3 controller to Your PC and after installing FF browse through the options ingame. There is an option somewhere that will change the gamepad symbols to the way they appear on PS3.
The game will play and feel like playing on PS3 but with better grafics.

I would agree with the main sentiment in this thread... your system was already dying. I have played a lot of games that were far more strenuous on my ps3 and several of them would freeze my system every few hours (particularly DCUO). Just say farewell to the ps3 and wait for ps4... or just get the pc version. But yea the law suit thing... not gonna happen.

There's no causal link. This is merely coincidence. Yes XIV runs the box hot (as do many other games), it's a shame yours died when you were playing XIV though. (Would you be blaming GTA V if it happened while you were playing that?)
