Constant Lag, Reply Please?

As noted by thousands of users, since yesterday and today many users are experiencing crippling bouts of lag, anywhere from once a minute to once every 15 seconds. The immediate cause seems to be that the "receiving" ping stat over the minimap (by default) is reduced to 0 for a moment, causing everything to stop and lag until your client catches up with what happened.

Occasionally this also causes 90000 disconnect errors.

I cannot play the game now, the lag is that bad. It's ridiculous. Why the hell have I paid for this service?

Yeah I have the exact same thing. Recieving reduced to 0 and then just a freeze for a few seconds.

I was one of the fortunate players that was able to connect in the first days but now, I can't play because of this.

For no apparent reason, I keep getting "lag spasms" that eventually leads to disconnecting with error 90000 after less than an hour (the worst was 4 minutes after login). This has started on September 2nd at around 1am while doing Castrum Merridianum. I didn't experience that before in the game and now, it happens every time I log in.

Problem:
Lag spasms / lag bouts

Started:
September 2nd at around 1:00 EDT

Before that date:
No noticeable lag and a smooth gaming

Frequency of the problem:
Every time I connect.

Consequence:
- Getting disconnected after less than an hour
- Avoid anything you don't want to be disconnected in the middle of

I truly hinders my ability to play the game and I hope the information I have been giving you will help to pinpoint the source of the problem.

Same for me. Sending and receiving drops to 0 and lags the game. Keeps causing the 90000 error and boots me off the game.

I tried again and this happens just before I get the 0's lol.

Not sure what's going on. Adding new servers is fine......but the same errors are going to happen on them. I might have to leave the game for a while and hope in a few weeks is runs smoothly.

I first started experiencing lag on release day but it wasn't that bad. Gradually it's gotten near unplayable for me. I was in a dungeon this morning and I was meant to be the healer, but the entire dungeon would just freeze for about 5 seconds at a time every few minutes and when my game caught back up I would see everyone very low on health and occasionally downed. The dungeons were what I looked forward to most but I simply can't attempt them like this, let alone as the healer...

*I tried playing on a different country server but I still had lag there too.

Try a server from Japan and see if there you have any lag.

For me is completely unplayable on EU, but i have no lag at all on Titan (japan server). I'm from Europe... not even close to Japan servers... so it must be something with EU/NA data-center, but not for all players, only for few of us.
Dunno, maybe they have multiple entrances to their data-center and we enter on a router which drop packets for us...
Maybe that's what they changed with 1st/2nd sept maintenances, split incoming traffic to their data-center on multiple routers... i'm only guessing... that's the only logic i found why i have lag on EU server but person near me in-game has no lag (but different ISP).

-Since 9/2/2013.
The lag comes about every 30seconds to 2 minutes...
I talked to my brother, different client and connection, same issue.
I've checked all ports, etc.
After a little bit, 90k error kills my connection after I lag.

Just posting to say I've experienced the same thing. I never had this in phase 3 beta or phase 4 beta, only in early access/launch. I've had times where it lagged for so long I got a 90000 error and it dropped me. Other times it could even lag for up to 15 seconds consistently before everything would rubber-band and catch up.

I don't know if it is SE though, since my gf has been having similar lag issues lately in WoW. I've experienced it in League of Legends as well. It started getting bad a few months ago and has stuck around ever since :/

Kicking this back up since it's still happening.

I've had this since early access, but my client never catches up. As soon as I log on it's Received: 0 and everyone is frozen in place until I 90000 out. Funny thing is if the game isn't the active window (that is, it's running in the background) I can see people moving around as if there's no problem. Getting reeeeeeeeeeal sick of this.

Yeah pretty much what happens. Just playing becomes a chore, and forget doing dungeons.

I've got no other problems outside of this game... I play League of Legends with no issues. Mine started lagging in FF on September 2nd. Anyone else?

This has been happening for me since sunday of Beta ph4. I have tried Japan server, which started good then when i got to lvl 17, started happening again. Just created enw char on new NA server and i am getting the same issue.

According to this thread, it has to do with the IP SE has assigned you.

Is there a way to change the IP SE assigns to us?

This is ridiculous - as soon as I got into an instance last night I could play from then on, even when I came out of the instance. However I log on tonight and it's unplayable due to the lag. What the hell is SE doing!?!

EDIT: So, i've gone into an instance tonight, completed it and come out - now i've got no lag. WHAT!?!??!

I doubt they even know about this yet but i have the same problem i cannot even heal properly because the game stops for 15 seconds.....

Oh! Praise the Lord, we finally got a response! I feel about 200% better now. I'd given up on ever finishing the main storyline and resolved myself to crafting all day. :(

Odd. Looking over the hops, It looks like the bottle neck occurs for me over the as6453.net servers. A quick Google check shows they are run by Tata Communications. Reading through their company profile, they are a Tier 1 telecom in India, but at best, a Tier 3 in the US. The server that bottlenecks seems to be in the Seattle area and pushes to a low 600ms latency (see tracert pull below. Some data was omitted as I parsed the information in side my companies office behind their Proxy). I can't seem to find their backbone in the US. If the backbone provider was found, we would be able to call up our ISP and request a route to a different server to complete the hop on a lower latency server. The only other option would be to go through a VPN to force a route change to avoid the data centers having issues. I'm hesitant of this as VPN's and Proxies have not yielded positive results for me in the past.

Yeah, I think this is happening in multiple places. I've got RCN in Boston, and my bottleneck happens with these two hops:

equinix-was12.ip.tiscali.NET (206.126.236.19)
xe-1-0-0.mtl10.ip4.tinet.net (89.149.185.41)

I've been watching ping traffic to the IP I've been assigned and every time I have a lag spike/rubberband/90000-error DC, my ping is hitting those hops and going no further. All my hops along the chain of my actual ISP are fine.

So I'm guessing it's a bottleneck or other problem somewhere between me and the NA/EU Data center (I have no problem on JP servers)

Oh my god! I thought it was because of my setup, but it seems like I'm one of you guys. Issue started on the 2nd.

Before the 2nd, game worked perfectly as long as I got in. Since the 2nd though, I'm having really bad lag issues, I keep being "desynched" from the server every minute or so, for as long as 15/20 seconds at time! Needless to say, I can't do any party stuff and thus can't progress in the main story... Even when I'm solo, I died a few times because of that, and even crafting can get grating...
No disconnection problems though.

Just to keep this in evidence!

I was playing just now, i'm a healer by the way, and during dungeons, the lag was so absurd that i could barely see the health bar of my allies going down, and when it went, people were looking at me and asking "Why didn't you cure".
Really, its frustrating when you have a hard time playing cause of network connections. Come on Square-Enix, time to check on this issue too!

I've been getting lag issues non-stop now, the game is completely unplayable. Log in play for 5 second, major issues for about 1minute, and then 90000 error.

I've been having severe lag since the beginning of the week as well. The game is absolutely unplayable right now. I didn't mind leaving my Black Mage aside for a day and work on my Botanist, but it got boring now. Hell, I can't even do gathering properly since I get attacked by monsters I don't even see and die. Sadly, I'm at the point where I'm simply tired of all the server problems and I don't even feel like playing anymore...

It seems like there are hundreds of us suffering from the same problem, yet they can't even give us an update on the situation. And no, a short message from a moderator saying "thank you for your output" isn't enough. They need to come up with an official statement about this matter...

SE is going to lose a bunch of subs if they don't pull their sh*t together fast...

Well it`s almost Weekend. If they fail to fix it... they will get what they reap what they sow.
