This is what I understand

I'm sitting here reading all these posts about how people want to have "free world transfer" and "rerolling" which I guess mean the same thing. Everybody either can't play or are not in the same world as their friends if they are playing. Seems everyone is just talking about what they want, and how we are going to be compinsated for this total injustice on SE part for not being psychic. People are getting a little to carried away.

SE has been pretty good about keeping us informed about what is happening, how they are addressing it, and what they have planned for later. It's only been one week since official launch, and we already are getting more servers so people can play. I'd say that's pretty quick response if you ask me. SE has apologied for all the inconvenience, and are correcting it right now. SE stated in all news I have read what they are doing right now and "free world transfer" is not one of them. SE also already stated that world transfer would be available later on down the road. So there should be no question about it. Tomorrow we all should be able to log in. If you're not in the same world as your friends right now you will be able to do so later. If there is a fee then whatever. They will address that later I'm sure. Right now SE in doing its best to make the game playable for everyone with minimum hassle. Rome wasn't build in a day, and I, as a customer, don't feel uninformed by SE. That is all.

i agree for the most part but i do think they should offer a way to have free transfers sooner then later, there were many people that had to go on different servers just because they couldnt log into the one that their friends were on. thats entirely SE fault. and im happy they are doing everything they can but i mean thats just not cool to have those people separated from their friends because of something that was out of the players control. and if they charge for world transfers thats just not acceptable for the reason i just stated.
im not really affected by this but i still sympathize with those that it does affect.

this isnt bashing SE, i just think that even though they are doing a good job trying to fix all this and its really unfortunate for everyone including them, everything needs to be corrected, not just the servers

World Transfer = Move current toon to another , less congested world
Re-Roll = start brand new (no gear, no levels) on a different server.

Transfers to START Mid Sept... so not anytime soon either. 2+ weeks.

Server transfers and rerolling are not the same thing.

A server transfer is moving an existing character from one server to another.
Rerolling is a term for having to completely recreate a character, originating from pen and paper rpg's in which players would roll dice when creating their characters to determine stats.

The reason that people do not want to reroll and want the free server transfers is because they want to be able to either play with their friends, which they are entitled to in an MMO, or not be on a server that is overpopulated and may cause them to not be able to get in and play. Players want these things which I believe are reasonable and they want to be able to have them without losing the progress and time that they have spent with the characters that they have already created.

I hope you can understand why people feel this way, and maybe even come to feel that this is a justifiable desire.

But I am hoping more than anything else that the server maintenance will fix many of the problems and having to transfer servers will not be necessary.

If one was playing on a server that was always full yesterday, why would he be able to log in today?

Thanks for pointing out the difference between rerolling and server transfer. The other point I made about world transfer later on, I understand that not playing with your friends right now is a real bummer. But the fact that they are implementing it later means that you will eventually be able to get in the same world as your friends. I see how this is inconvenient now, but this is just the beggining. If we can take our characters to other worlds then your still making progress no matter what world you are in right now. I don't really mind as long as I eventually have the option to transfer worlds. But I totally understand how other people would be upset about this right now. That's just like my opinion.

I feel like I've heard this argument for the past 30 days about this game (or more, if you add the 1.0 "just wait" comments i've read).

I'm hoping I don't have to because the two people I really want to enjoy this game with aren't in game yet. On the other hand if the crowd at work wants to start toons and mob the world, yeah I'm all for picking a server that's new to us all like you and your friends are.

Sure they are offering it later, everyone knows that. FOR a PRICE. Who wants to pay to move to another server when they were forced to either play on some random server or not play at all. When people purchase the game, it didn't come mentioning "If you want to play with your friends, you'll have to give us a extra 20-25 bucks on top of the 40-50 bucks people already paid. People who work for their money know the value and just having to pay for a transfer because of the fault of the company kinda sucks. Understand? It's like ordering something online with Fed Ex, paying for over night express delivery, they accept the payment but then when it arrives at your nearest Fed Ex sorting facility.. "Opps, can't deliver to ya, fool! However, fool, if you give us 25 more dollars we'll bring it right to you! Gimme your money!". Didn't you already pay for over night shipping the first time? A good chunk of people bought this game with the intent on playing with other people. Not to be charged a extra 25 dollars to move characters around as soon as the game comes out of the gate. That was not advertised. You would expect people to be charged cash 6 months down the line, we will call those "vanity transfers". Most of these requesters are not vanity transfers. They are people who got shafted into playing on some random server in a attempt to try to keep a char at level with the people they are separated from. To charge people 20-25 bucks to move when its SE who gave them the option to either play on some random server, or get left behind by not playing at all until everything got fixed just sounds like money grubbing to me. We will all be paying 9-15 bucks a month here. Though I like all the posts where people complain about people feeling entitled. Wow, I thought forking my money over gave me access to what was advertised, I must be paying for forum access. Boy it sure must be nice to play the game for free, since our money doesn't entitle us to anything advertised. Must be real nice.

PS: Im making up the price. I have no idea how much it will cost but I know its not gonna be free. Why would they give out free transfers when half their customers are already bent over. You know how much money they get to make off the bat by forcing people onto some random server. Get ready to spread the cheeks, no gel.

I'm pretty sure in the live stream that it was said that transfers will be $30 for one character. So yeah it will be a substantial amount which is why I believe they should do free transfers from high pop servers to the newer servers for free. So people can play with their friends. I understand that re-rolling is not too big of a deal for people who haven't had much of a chance to play anyway. For the people who actually put time into their character even though they couldn't play with their friends it would REALLY suck... I am not in the position as to where I am unable to play with my friends but if I was I would be very upset to have to throw another $30 to do it.
