Yes.

Compared to what?
compared to PS3
more then likely they will be the same.. the graphics are good for a mmo .. but one thing u got to keep in mind with mmo they require a lot of cpu power and graphic power to process everything that goes on in a game.. and with hundreds of people in one area that beats the crap out of a game system or pc.. cause it has to render each person.. so the ps4 will be able to render it better and be less choppy per say but graphics wise I will guess it wont be any better. That is why a mmo graphics will never compete with a single player game.
Most likely it will better somewhat due to the better hardware and the fact that they are working on creating a version specifically for that hardware, but since the console is not even out yet anything is conjecture, even if it is based in rationality.
Expect it to be more like the PC in terms of specs.

It may as well be a PS4 vs PS3. That's what I expect.
ok look at it this way.. more then likely the pc will have the best graphic on this game because pcs will always be ahead in the hardware department.. So sony make the game wich takes a long time and will build the game for the ps3 on it engine.. now for the graphics to be better they will have to redo them and a new engine that the ps4 uses ... and that is going to take way to long and cost way to much money... so the game will look as good as it does now on the ps3 on the ps4.. cause sony wont spend the money make it look a little bit better for the ps4 when the can just sell it the way it is for the ps4 system and make money...
Do you even know what you are talking about...
PS4 is based on x84 AMD processor, which means it's essentially like a PC. Unless I have misunderstood something you could in theory just take the current PC engine and run it on the PS4. Though, of course additional optimizations will be made for PS4 to run it as smooth as possible. Also the hardware is a little different, 8GB shared fast system and graphics memory.
I'm sorry but I don't agree with you.
Yes, the PC will most likely have the best specs and therefore be able to output the best looking graphics.
The PS4 will have better hardware than the PS3, therefore the developers will be able to take more advantage of the engine that they built for the game and will be able to most likely have better graphics for the PS4 version. They will not have to recreate the engine or the assets, they already have all that because of the PC version, they will just pretty much have the game running at higher settings for the PS4 version because the console can handle it.
It won't be Sony developing the PS4 version, it will be SquareEnix and yes they will spend the time and money to make a version of the game specifically for the PS4 because it is an investment in potential sales.
I've developed games for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 and the base engine and assets are pretty much the same for the different versions.
The most common practice in development is to create everything (engine, assets, etc.) with the main target platform in mind, in the case of FFXIV I would say that it is most likely PC, and then create everything to function well or maybe a little more than the platform can handle and then optimize everything until it all runs smoothly.
If there are multiple platforms, the game will most likely be built for the most powerful platform and then versions will be "branched" off and these other versions for the less powerful platforms will then have things toned down and optimized for those platforms.
So for the most part, if a console has drastically better hardware than another (such as Ps3 vs. PS4) and they are making specific versions of the game for those different consoles, the one with the better hardware will most likely have better graphics and most likely run better.
Again, this is an assumption based on my experience and may not end up being correct, but I feel it is a pretty good chance that what I am saying is true.
The PS4 version will without a doubt look better than the PS3 version. There is no reason for a graphics engine change, thats just silly.
The PS4 , and XboxOne , are both based on PC hardware and have a total of 8gig ram (what is usable by games varies depending on the system). The PS3 has a total of 256meg or ram available but the PS4 will have around 3.5 - 4gig available to games. This will translate to more characters and effects on screen at one time as well as a bump in the graphic settings.
yah the process is just a machine that crunches numbers and that's all.. the only diff between on cpu and a nother is how fast and how many cores it has.. now you have to look at the graphic cards in the systems.. and a ps4 wont compete with a pc that has a dual graphic card or tri card or even quad card.. and the ps4 wont be able to hold as much ram as a pc ...so video game system will always be behind a computer.. now im not saying the ps4 will suck or anything .. but with how the tech for computers is always growing so fast .. when the ps4 and xbox comes out they will be behind .. it works that way for even pcs.. you build a top end pc and a couple months latter there is something better out..
the ps4 cpu is only 1.6ghz speed .. that's not that great.. My pc wich is 3 years old.. the cpu is running at 3.71ghz.. a lot faster processing speed..my pc has the same amount of ram 8gbs.(but I could upgrade it to 24gigs if I wanted to) now im not sure what the ps4 has for gpu.. but I know that right now im running dual graphic card that has 4gigs of video ram..and im willing to bet that ps4 wont have that much of a gpu power...... but my point is that the gameing systems will always be beind a computer.
dude all ram is a buffer that hold data for a short amont of time before the cpu or gpu can processes it..... its the gpu that will render the data for the graphics.
it'll look like our PC's version. So.. no change for me.
Hey look, a new kind of stupid!
its a 8 core processor, it definately blows yours away, the GPU is also mid-high range 1.84 TFlops speeds.hmm.... what else did you try to point at.... RAM beyond 8GB is rarely utilized in the first place, even on PCs (unless your into graphical arts and design, not "replaying" graphical arts and designs.)
But seriously.. get your stats straight, you can't compare just "1.0 Ghz" to "3.0Ghz" computers are worlds different now based on a number of other specifications, speeds, and architecture, you can easily bottle neck a PC (or even systems) by not paying attention to the easiest little detail, ruining the results.
SIT UNDER YOUR BRIDGE AND DO YOUR HOMEWORK TROLL
the ps4 version will prob look alot like the pc version prob a mix of high and and medium settings with some aspects turned off.. While the ps4 will have more ram and a better cpu and gpu then the ps3... THe pc version will always come out on top do to hardware and the ability to pretty much change and update whenever you feel... While the ps4 client will be tailored to take advantage of the ps4 As far as the ps4 vs ps3 it will be better. As far as the ps4 vs pc... Pc will come out on top.. Given the fact you can do resolutions that the ps4 will not be able to do ... Do to hardware. 4k may be possible on the ps4 but its no where near going to be as smooth as 4k on the pc or even 8 and 12k given the hardware. People that afford top end pc's will have a better time with the ps4 version then pc if they cant upgrade.. and ps3 owners it will be a defiant upgrade.
Even if it's essentially a PC, the PC version is running under Windows using DirectX 9 and in the future also DirectX 11.
PS4 is running a FreeBSD 9 derivative with Sony additions and will be using OpenGL.
The GPU is capable of both DX11 and OpenGL obviously and they're about similar feature wise, but there is no DirectX implementation for FreeBSD.
Large parts of the code is probably platform agnostic and can be adapted for whichever platform they want to run on, but there is also a lot that can't just be plucked from one platform and put on another.
It should however mean that any future Linux or Mac OS X version (if they choose to make one) will be much easier to make than if they were not going for PS4.
OMG you PC fan boys are too funny. Of course the game will always look better on a PC but to say it will look the same on PS4 as it does on PS3 is the most ignorant and moronic statement I have heard in some time. I have played both the PS3 version and the PC version of ARR. Even though my PC is from 2009 it still looks INSANELY better than the PS3 version. Night and day difference. Since SONY has been pushing the PS4 as a more PC like gaming machine since we first got whispers of it, expect the PS4 version to look amazing. Seriously... to the people who said it will look like the PS3 version where you just trolling or are you really dumb? Do you honestly think SONY would ever consider ever for a second allowing a game, a final fantasy game nonetheless, to be released on their next gen system unless it was top notch? *facepalm
