Female player character mistakenly refered to as "him".

In the storyline, before entering Castrum Meridianum, I noticed this little oops in the dialogue where, if you're playing a female character, Alphinaud refers to her as him.

"We know him as a dear friend who has endured untold hardship on our behalf-"

Dun, dun, duuuuuuun! Just when you thought the warrior of light was female. Guess again!
Alphinaud clearly has the ability to see through disguises.

The Japanese language has chosen to have a limited use of pronouns which allows them to hide the gender and sex of characters in text with ease.

However, it's a lot more awkward to do it in English.

Although in this case,

"We know this individual as a dear friend who has endured untold hardship on our behalf-"

Would work pretty well too.

That's ok my roomie walked in during Garuda event and said "That chick is hot." It was Alphinaud. I said "That's a boy."
Response, "I hate Japanese games," and walks out.
So, TAKE THAT ALPH.

I know, right? I suppose twins are meant to be hard to tell apart, though I'm curious to find out where Alisae has been all this time. No spoilers, please, if anyone knows.

It's not exactly games in general but these things are also shaping real life and society.

A lot of women nowadays are starting to keep short hair and boys are starting to grow long hair.
In turn companies have starting to take on the manufacturing of unisexual clothing/items to take advantage of the fact and maximise their sales.

So it's not really just Japanese games. It's a new style of people in earnest.

"Androgyny" get used to it.
