Make gil so it cannot be traded OR Heavily reduce limit of gil that can be traded. (Approx 10k for now)
This is only a suggestion and is open to criticism.
Pro's
1: Possibly stop gil spammers completely as they cannot run their business.
Con's
1: Limits players by not being able to help friends (however this could be solved by still allowed crafting mats to be bought for friends)
Please if anyone else see's benefit in doing this or something horribly wrong with doing this please comment.
I would rather have my gil account bound that have gil spammers ruin this fantastic game.

Also consider
1: Gear cannot be sold on these websites because it is account bound.
2: Crafting mats can be bought from the auction house for gil and people will not pay real money for something they can just buy with in game gil.
If they do stop the trading of gil it will also allow them to open up more ways for gil to flow into the economy besides a few allagan pieces and low FATE rewards. -

Stop buying gil is the best solution actually. Sadly many people post about how buying gil is evil and then proceed to buy themselves some gil. If people didn't buy gil then there would not be any gil sellers... its really that simple.

How would this stop anything? Players who wanted to buy gil could just circumvent this by having the RMT buy overpriced mats from their retainers in place of trading/mailing.
SE just need to ban these players as they see them/watch the flow of gil. -

So...the only "solution" is the one where you blist all of the gil sellers on your server when they send you a tell and report them. You can't get rid of the problem, there's not a single mmo out there that doesn't have it. You can only diminish how often you have to be distracted by it. And, again, with how massively over populated the servers for this game are, buying new accounts isn't going to do them any good if the server you're on is full and you've blisted all of them that are already there.Quote:

Several good points. But no idea alive will stop them save this one: Find their IP. And Nuke their House. Once one city is down people will be using peer pressure along with fear to stop them.
kk that's over extreme (I do like overpowering things that I hate with super mean power) but its as good as all the other ideas. XD Like someone mentioned and as mentioned in OP's post simply can be circumvented and thus exploited by the Sellers. SE's idea to allow us to not trade among our charas was pointless. (And I circumvented that one by having a FC and a few family members who play as well. [Insert family with trusted friends and you too can have two chara sharing most of the stuff you want to share.]) -

There are several reason why your idea won't work, the least of which is that it's a terrible band-aid fix to a much bigger problem, and RMTs will easily circumvent your band-aid fixes. For my reason why it wouldnt work, (where I said that ppl can just put cheaper items for a LOT of gil and have the RMT buy it), you suggested putting a cap on each and every sellable item in the game. Who gets to make those decisions? What stops the player from putting up 99 ash logs being sold for 1000 gil each? How/when will SE adjust this cap during the eventual inflation of the game as the months pass?

How many resources will SE have to expend to implement your bullshit fix? How will player's sell their extremely valuable items that they want to keep off the AH (to avoid ah tax)? What about players that want to sell directly to a client periodically or at a discount price (yes, it happens)? Your removal of the "ability to trade gil" feature is not feasible, and is a terribly short sighted fix to a much bigger problem.

Honestly the only way to get rid of gil sellers is to devalue it in-game. As long as people are lazy and not willing to farm, there will always be people willing to spend real currency for digital currency regardless of the game.
Out of genuine curiosity I checked several gil selling websites and they're already going cut throat. After refreshing at a casual basis I saw the prices of a few websites undercut one another by pennies at a time until another site undercut by almost $5 before it stopped entirely. -

I really have to ask. What's the point of making gil unable to be traded? Isn't that worse than the problem caused by RMTs? This is if it would even stop them (which it wouldn't). You should think more about what would be lost in the process versus the manner in which we are apparently suffering at the moment. Trading one evil for another seems silly.

Well that is what i'm wondering. I really don't think so. Like i mentioned i'd rathe rhave my gil locked to my account or request through GM help to trade my large amount of gil rather than the economy be completely mucked up from people buying 1 mil gil at a time.
I'm just posting this to find others thoughts.
I have not seen any decent rebuttal so far.
1: Gil cannot be traded so gil farmers can not sell it through trade.
2: Each craft mat has a individual price so they can not be put up for ridiculous amounts. (still possibly some brain storming to do with selling 99x of a single item.)
3: Gear is mostly account bound and cannot be traded for anything anyway. ( still possible brainstorming to be done with high end gear that is not account bound)
The idea i mentioned is not perfect obviously but i believe it could be a starting point for some really ingenious ideas to prevent these gil farmers from doing anything. -
