Mine would have to be where i had to tank Titan and i was the healer. That was awesome but still horrible.

I love how that's all you gotta say on that one haha. <3
Mine are all about the same story: hyperactive tanks that aren't paying attention to the team. You know the ones... the ones that aggro three monsters at once alone when the rest of the team is nowhere near them and then they start harassing the healer in chat to no avail because it's ALL HEAL'S FAULT... yep...
DPS: "Hey, I heard tanks have insta queues, I'm gonna play a tank!" + Duty Finder
The End
Or as I like to call it the Derp Finder
:D
my horror story is about Tank who never use flash and agrro 3 mobs. Only one of them is Full hate on him. The other bash on him till i have to cast Cure because his HP goes down. But no matter how long i wait, this "/$%?&* Tank will never ever uses flash. So all the 2 other Mobs turn on me. Last time i didnt cure till the Tank uses flash or get aggro on Mobs....guess what he never Flash so he Died.He called me Noob and rage quit.
P.S : yes i did ask him " Tank can you plz use flash. Thx"
I think most healing horror stories will inevitably include tanks.
There was this one time when I did Toto-rak with pugs and it was... just horrible. I was in front of the dungeon, about to click Duty Finder, but got partied immediately. So we went in. The tank was silent throughout the whole dungeon. Sometimes he backtracked a lot for reasons unknown (can't read map lol?), or just went/circled around the same area over and over. The first boss went fairly ok, but the second was so bad. He didn't bother to take care of the adds and the DPS (lancer) got the highest threat on the boss. LNC ran around like mad as I frantically tried to heal him because he took massive damage, while the GLD chased the boss around in vain, obviously failing to get his attention. And sweet adds chased me and oh god, how I hated that Slow and Poison.
All in all it was just horrible. I hope I won't have more healing horror stories in the future. *crosses fingers*
Damn seems you guy's got it bad when it comes to tanks. Yet don't get me wrong I've had my share but I've never came across a tank who doesn't use flash. Now that's just NO YOU DON'T DO THAT.
Okay here is a non-tank story!
I cast Cure II on a DPS. The animation finished, the sound pinged, I was ready to cast my next spell, but for some reason, it didn't go through. I watched the HP number only go straight down, never up, and the DPS died. :(
Seems like some bizarre lag issue? When I finally went "...um I'm really sorry I could have sworn that went through on time" the DPS agreed. It was horrifying to me at least because it looked like I just #$^%ed up.
I've had a few instances where I've had to run circles around the tank with a horde of boss fight adds on me because he wouldn't take them off. Or he'd pull multiple things and the second I had to cast something other than regen they'd all come to me and he'd just continue hacking away on the single one he aggro on.
Clueless/unobservant dps getting hit by every aoe is a big drain on my MP. People don't seem to realize that healing is limited, especially in the early 30's as WHM before you get regen and shroud.
I never have a problem teaching DD's the fact of being dumb (when they stand in bad stuff) I just let em die and say they failed the retard check
The problem I have is OFF tanks in 8 man instances....
OFF tank... your only job is to grab Adds.. ADDS...Why can't you do that right its your only freaking job
I make it super obvious as well that adds spawn... I run up to the off tank so it makes the task that much easier (hell cover me for god sake at least)
Newp not even herp derpington either grabs 2 and that is all she wrote or not even keeps hitting the main boss
This is why healers leave DF.... this is why
Oh also on Hard modes people who clearly cannot listen to simple instruction... again sadly being the tanks (IE This is what you pull, this is where you stand, that is how it is done)
Garuda HM : Tank this is where you need to stand and you have to tank so and so on this phase please remember
"Runs around for 5mins on phase 2 eating all the tornado's" - guys i'm confused /attempt 5
This is why we can't have nice things
Garuda /10char
I was at Brayflox and the tank didn't understand that he was supposed to keep hate. He just kept spamming one WS action, never provoked, never flashed.
Didn't get past the first room, after I repeatedly told him to use provoke and flash, and he didn't - I gave up and left the instance.
I just do every instance with the expectation that I'll be tanking adds. 9/10 times, that's how it goes, so I just face tank them and sleep them or die if it's that 3 pull in Stone Vigil.
The only real trouble I've had so far is Garuda, where people take a lot of unneeded damage and a couple of attempts I couldn't top someone off in time before the big aoe. Although the attempt that I killed it, I had a lot of mana entering that phase...usually I'd be oom at like 30%, so people did a good job avoiding things.
Garuda, 2x derp melee dps getting hit by everything, byebye mana. Wipe a few times b/c of my mana.
One dps says "You need to avoid taking damage so that you spend less mp healing yourself"
I was gone from that duty within 2 seconds of reading that.
I was in Thousand Eyes of Tam'taru with a decent group. The tank and arcanist were fine, competent players. Our lancer, on the other hand, had this really bad habit of running ahead and face-pulling each new pack. I probably shouldn't have healed him/her just to get the point across...but that option was left in the dirt...with our corpses...on numerous occasions. I still wonder how we managed to finish the instance. Cause let's face it, there's only so much stupid a healer can keep up with before Medica sucks your mana pool dry
I forget what dungeon I was in, but it was about lvl 30ish, and our tank was a warrior. He is taking SO much damage that I barely have time to heal the DPS when they need it, and then on the first boss I completely run out of MP healing him. After we finally down the boss I notice he isn't using Defiance, but when I told him about it he said that he didn't have the skill... So eventually the party and I directed him to find it and he activated it, but was still taking way too much damage for me to keep up, so I left the group.
First time in Brayflox, of course!
Overzealous and undergeared tank with speedy pulls. Both DPS afk at the dungeon entrance. I struggled to pull enough dps to bring down mobs on the first pull, all while keeping the poorly-geared tank up. Tank melted on the second pull and promptly ragequit.
Welcome to Brayflox I guess...
some douche bagger forget his name.. edemus Happer a tank in long stop, never said anything ran around looking like they were admiring the scenery not pulling and when they did pull just auto attack. we some how got to the 1st boss after about 5 wipes on fodder, h then again auto att the boss we wiped we said good by, couple other people in my ls came across the same douche said same things... all withing the glorious duty finder ( should be able to add ppl to blist so never party in duty finder with them lol)
Let's see...
To be honest, most of the issues that I ever have with healers is when they don't understand how enmity works. These players will spam heals to their heart's content, including Medica when no one needs help besides the tank. Now, I try hard to be polite and fair and I've only had a few instances where this is a serious issue in the dungeon. After all, tanking and healing can be two of the trickiest roles to master (imo) and they often accuse one another.
I haven't had anything majorly awful yet. But my first time in Toto-Rak, I was matched with a healer who would constantly spam abilities. At the first mob, I engaged with a shield lob and followed up with a flash. But before my flash was even ready, this guy launches stone at the creatures! Immediately after, he would cast medica medica medica medica and so naturally, the monsters started switching their attention. This was before I had Provoke or Rage of Halone, but I was doing everything within my power to pull those creeps back! It didn't help, that he was running away from me!
After the team managed to clear the mob (two PUG's, bless their hearts, they were trying to catch up too), the Healer started raging at me to use Flash constantly. He did this throughout the entire dungeon almost. Finally, I decided to explain how enmity works and that although flash is an AoE hate builder, it isn't as strong as savage blade nor against a barrage of spells. He then said that he was a level 50 Paladin and I didn't know what I was talking about. Shortly after, he left.
Maybe I was doing one or two things wrong, but dayum.
(And for the record: Healers, I <3 you and I never want the blame war of Tanks vs Healers to come between us! Without you, the tanks die too! )
In healer subforum, we talk about tank derps.
So what do tanks talk about in tank subforum?
Tank derps...

lol
ok some groups are maybe horrible but ( all in all ) mostly i found people nice enough when you get in a group and its all our first time , i dont expect no problem . We all Dont know what to expect ... have to find out the strat some player arent geared well enough but i have fun no matter what , usually ! So what if its not always perfect !
I'm only a level 21 Conjurer, but my experience so far with the Duty Finder is turning me off that feature entirely.
In all but one dungeon run, I've been tanking everything other than the tank's target, which they stick to religiously and refuse to assist with adds.
Mine was last night at Haukke Manor. Wasn't even at boss, just one of the trash rooms. 4 mobs. Bard was somewhere else looting, tank charged in aggro the pack. The dragoon attacked a different mob and both start to take damage. I started healing and got 2 turned red on me. I started to take damage. Start to chain cast Medica and pulled the one on the dragoon on me too. Now the bard shows up. Almost wiped.
Did I say we weren't even at the boss? The boss on the other hand was easy compare to crazy party members who don't pay attention.
it happen when the dmg the target take + your healing is less than the dmg deal by mobs/boss, in those case if you are a WHM, use some kind of fast cast skill and throw SS on the target and cure em if you dont have benediction, and if you are SCH, just swiftcast + the SCH skill with 300 healing and 1/2 of healing become shield and bla bla bla (dont remember name) and then physick
I don't heal unless someone can get the full effect of a spell and only ever otherwise start casting before a big incoming hit, so I assume the threat issue isn't mine.
I also always run to the tank when I do have adds on me, but usually to no avail.
Honestly, it hasn't really been an issue so far, seeing as it's still early in the game and any class can tank X amount of mobs indefinitely, but it gets on my nerves.
Brayflox's last boss as a newbie scholar in general.
Everyone was getting hit by things, I had trouble staying within healing distance of both the tank and the DPS because of all the poison--
Would've died if the summoner wasn't helping me heal
I never felt so useless as a healer
neveragain
(i still ran that dungeon two or three more times though)
I've only really had one bad run in which there was no saving the group and I was forced to quit out. I was running Sastasha for a second time and my tank decides to grab to groups of mobs which isn't a big deal at that level but he/her and my DPS focus on one mob to kill it quick which I can understand but they let the other 5 mobs run past and kill me instantly.
This one time, I had to switch from my main of Red Wizard to Red Healer... I let the tank die. I just didn't want to spam heals I waited too long and she died. :c
I suck as a healer. I fell asleep once playing a healer too.
I am that one guy who is the "break glass incase of emergency" after you break the glass in case of emergency already.
I was in an instance where on several trash groups i was healing the lancer or just myself as we became the main tanks.... i think in 4 trash groups i sent 1 heal to the tank... no one said anything, then after a really bad boss attempt where i was the main tank it seemed, the real tank just typed "the aggro", "its not my fault"... =O
As most of these are about tanks/DPS screwing up, thought i'd mention a healer (me) screwing up too!
Healed Toto Rak for a friend - really good group & flew through the dungeon (I spent more time DPS'ing than healing as everyone was doing exactly what they should). Got to the final boss & had no problems, except, half way through the fight my mouse batteries died. Quickest change of batteries ever! Still, I was not quick enough & the tank went down. We still killed the boss as the DPS knew what they were doing, but I felt really bad. I had to laugh :)
As we all have horror tank stories, my first horror story was when I hit lvl 30 and ran out of MP for the first time.
I was like.... WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!?!?!
I think the transition from easy healing and endless MP to hardcore MP management skills required was way too sudden - gave me a fright there and sadly we wiped thanks to me.
I learned my lesson after. :P
Due to the post limit I cant post my 3 stories so here's the one I thought most relevant:
First time doing Sunken Temple I was feeling like such a baddy, whenever I asked the tank how he died his responses were "You didn't heal me" or "Heal more aggressively" I was starting to wonder if things had ramped up too much and if I needed to upgrade my gear more, or relearn healing strategies... but apparently you can't heal through someone with 2400 health being hit for 2700! from a Temple Bee's Final Sting... he was getting smashed around on the first boss with 1400-1700 Final Stings, once the dps started focusing down the targets everything went really smoothly and the tank stopped blaming me, but it was still really frustrating... I still don't understand the bard leaving the group when we missed a key item to open the boss door, luckily a really good dragoon joined and helped destroy the last boss.
Luckily outside of some tanks in the early instances that thought they were dps on one mob only, that I could just heal myself or dps through I haven't had any overly rough experiences. I picked up white mage healing really quick I'm sure I'll have a lot of self derp stories to add when I get my scholar up.
The nightmare starts when on one of the first pulls.
- I'm kiting 3-4 mobs
- The summoner is tossing me heals
- The dragoon is chasing the mobs
- The tank is content with hitting that one mob.
Followed by being promoted to main tank on bosses like Ifrit HM .
I do a hell of a job keeping aggro.
Which ends up with me turning into captain obvious
'When you stand in red stuff it hurts' followed by ' interrupt the big nasty spell'
But hey what doesn't kill you makes you stronger at least so I'm led to believe.
When you wake up after the nightmare, you're at the start of the instance with three people rushing forward.
No lesson learned.
Trade over to conjurer and get Sastasha with a glad tank that not only never used flash, but was in a ROBE. He had less hp than the pugilist. The topaz carby from the arcanist tanked the place. And no one dpsed the adds on last boss, so I got heal aggro from them all and curespamming myself i managed to last till about a half second till the boss was dead.
