Gameplay Requests/Ideas

Just a few ideas. Please +vote if you think they are good/valid.

1. Allow us to put Location markers (waypoints) on our map, to display markers on the minimap.
2. Allow story missions to be played via a group. (I mean come on, this is an MMO after all!)
3. Allow Leve's (Company and Standard) to be ran as a group. Even if it requires a Leve allowance from all party members, that would be more acceptable then running solo all the time. (again, this is an MMO. Please stop making us play alone!)
4. Allow us to talk to NPC's while on a mount. (why can't I talk to someone while on a mount? just doesn't make since)
5. Add multi-person mounts. (not really required, but I do think it would be very cool.)
6. Allow us to feed Chocobos "gysahl Greens" for a speed boost, with mounting.
7. Allow us to mount Chocobos or other mounts, while having Chocobo's fighting with us.Chocobo wouldn't fight while mounted, but please make it so we can dismount, and have chocobo still out and fighting for us at that time.
8. Allow us to place functional items in our house/room, upgrade our house/room, etc. Functional houses was one of the coolest things that kept drawing me back to FFXI. Having similar, but better functions in FFXIV would be great!
9. Auto-dismount when casting spells/starting a fight/using a skill. I don't see a reason to block us from using skills, instead just kick us off our mounts, or even better give us an option to pick if we want to be dismounted when we use a skill.
10. Item-Compare (saw someone else's post with this, liked the idea). yea we can see the + and - for items, but we can't see skills, stats, etc that are + or - . even if we don't have a compare, at least show the stats differences.

1. A command and right click menu for the following actions : Add to Blacklist, Report Harassment, Report Gold Seller
2. Item preview - Allow us to see what an item looks like on our character. This is an RPG, I want to be able to SEE what my character can choose to look like when thinking about choosing loot/rolling on something/crafting.
3. Allow Mailing to your alts, or add a feature to allow your retainer to be Shared between all your alts, and share items that way as well.
4. Allow people to change class/jobs during a dungeon etc IF someone leaves the group. It is incredibly frustrating sitting there waiting on a healer that never comes while the dungeon sloooowly times out, and you sit there having a perfectly good healing class out of reach. Could not be abused, restrict it to only being active while short members, and out of combat.
5. Allow vanity pets to be summoned in dungeons. Nothing beats sitting around waiting while commenting on pets.
6. Allow all bag slots to be opened at once if desired.
7. Add true "Sorting" option to inventory and retainers, with the option to sort by either Name, or Level, or Type of item, etc.
8. Limit Break tutorial. Soo many people don't know they exist, or how to use them efficiently. Have a story quest put new players into an instanced solo scenario that shows them the ideal time to use their limitbreak, and the ones for other roles.

Voting up most of the points you raise.
Story missions able to be played in a group would also help to reduce the number of active instances at any one moment.
Talking to NPC's while mounted would be nice, but I believe that they won't let you do that because of a few issues, such as needing to be standing, not covering the npc with a large mount etc...
Multi person mounts would be very nice, but I would prefer a LOT more changes to the game before then.
Chocobo riding abilities such as sprint, digging etc.. would be nice as well. Maybe as an extension to the chocobo farm for housing. Teaching new abilities.
I agree with 7 as well. Even if you have your chocobo fighting, that doesn't mean out of combat you can't just climb ontop of it. Just seems kind of silly not to allow this.
I do believe they are implementing 8.
Agree with 9 too, definitely an option needed for that.
10. Is NEEDED, must have! I'm sick of it simply showing armor increases, not ACTUAL stats.

As for my (and others) ideas not on this post.

D. Tab targeting options allowing classic tabbing order, not just forward/reverse indiscriminate of distance.

E. Class mounts, like the unicorn. Opens up soo many nice possibilities that you have to earn. Such as summoner on Fenrir etc...

G. Allow bag slots to be opened at once, allowing for easier sorting of items.

H. PROPER summoner avatars... these "egi's" look silly compared to what we got in XI... and other games.. The reason soo many people played summoner was to be in control of these massive entities. They just don't have the same "feeling".
IF for some reason there is a good reason not to have these... then perhaps just as a summoner Limitbreak, summoning a random Primal version of the Egi's you have.
Which brings me to the next point...

Is there a voice comms option in the game? Many of us use game pads and it would make it easier if voice comms was supported in game instead of having to use a separate program or just use the text chat.

I: individual Limit Breaks for classes. Still based off role, but themed. Like the summoner suggestion above ^.

J: finally what I can remember... Limit Break tutorial. Soo many people don't know they exist, or how to use them efficiently. Have a story quest put new players into an instanced solo scenario that shows them the ideal time to use their limitbreak, and the ones for other roles.
Trying to teach a new player how to use it/when to use it is difficult because when you realize they don't know, its at a heated time in a fight.

That's all I got for now, but a lot of huge improvements to the game which I would love to see.

I just want a Q'n system.

In resonating others' suggestions about booting the afkers, please consider taking a step further and implementing the following command:

/report [type] [name]

• AFK
• RMT
• BULLY

• AFK- Automatically starts a 1 hour timer behind the scene and kick the player if he/she doesn't return when the timer expires.
  
  First of all, kuddos to SE for beefing up the resources to sustain the number of players. I was able to log in within 3 minutes shortly after the maintenance. That being said, I personally believe the game will only get more popular due to positive reviews and word-of-mouth from players such as myself. To avoid seeing the dreadful 1017 and 2002 error codes in the future, please allow active players to police the community and report people who deliberately stayed logged in for no good reason.
  
  I understand it is a personal choice to stay logged in (because you don't pay your own utility bill? Sorry, had to be sarcastic here) or log out when you're done playing. But the fact is AFKers are taxing the system resources.

• RMT - If a minimum of 5 (arbitrarily picked) different players report someone engaging in RMT activities, a 1-hour ban will be enforced for first offense, and a temporary (with no time limit) ban will be enforced for repeated offense with an investigation underway. Once investigated and confirmed by GM, permanently ban their SE account once and for all. To deter pranking and blackmailing, the whistle-blowers should be recorded by the system for future reference. Once proven innocent, the prankers should in turn receive a 3-hour ban on their SE account (i.e. across all characters in all worlds) as a reprimand.
  
  One week after the game is launched, despite the login restrictions and server limitations, we're already seeing /shouts and even /tells like "... buy gils from ff14goldmall.com...". Just google "buy FF14 gils" and there's easily multiple hits. Not only are the RMTs ruining the economy and everyone's gaming experience, but they're also contributing to the login problems and taking up valuable spots when they should be banned for good.

Please change quest rules I know this is an MMO but storyline related quests should not force you to do quests with groups of people if you do not want to. Make the group thing something voluntary and not forced. Its not always easy to find a group and sometimes you get bad groups or people who aren't very nice. The decision to join others should be left up to me and not be required otherwise I cannot progress in the story. Also it would be nice to get more storage space.

Oh please, dear sweet Lord Baby JEEBUS CHRIST ON A CRACKER, the above. I had two players drop out of an instanced raid and couldn't finish it because two of us were not enough to win through. That was this morning, and I'm still waiting for people to come along so I can do this part of the main storyline. If we must work some quests in parties, at least make it possible to use NPCs if no one is around so we can get on with the quest.

A command is ok, but really, what I'd want is that right-clicking on a name in chat gives you additional menu entries:

• Add to Blacklist
• Report Harassment
• Report Gold Seller

The first one would be equivalent to /blacklist add (including a prompt). The last two equivalent to going through the support desk, except that it does not pass through an extra UI (seriously, S/E, you can prefill Server Name, Area Name and Timestamp). Both Report options also imply an blacklisting (without prompt).

This is how LOTRO does it, and it makes for easy fixes when there is a chat-related problem.

I updated the main post with the ideas you guys had. I also formed all of them into a Google Docs survey form, so we can all vote, so that a few months later, we can provide the Statistics to SE on what we (the customers) truly want. Everyone, lets start voting. I'll keep the list updated, just send me over the ideas, and I'll get them added to the list. Lets make sure they are valid requests though, so that the list doesn't get huge to the point that no one wants to fill it out.

Okok, I got some suggestions to add to the top post me and friends noticed...

1: Autosort by container/complete, prolly been brought up a lot, it's god annoying
2: Allow us to select what quests to display -_- pretty sure beta had that option, but it got removed...
3: Allow for friend list to extend to other servers and on that...
3.5: Once above been added, allow for cross server groups to be capable of forming for duties- I met some nice people cross server I'd like to keep grouping with
4: Once it has been fixed, allow for all servers to hit up Duty Finder again, especially if above gets added. It'd be a real let down to find out your friends are in a server that is outside your cross server bracket for grouping

5: Right click on name for black list... It's god annoying to copy paste...
6: I don't know why it was removed, but it was a LOT nicer to be able to type /search <whatever> to find things... bit of a pain in the ass to do it the long way
7: I might be overlooking things, but a level sync option would be nice outside of fates/dungeons. I like grouping with friends to help but it sucks when I kill his xp and have nothign his level range

few suggestions;
• Give the possibility that the "TAB" work from closer to the further
from left to right => useless and confusing, in FATE I often see someone (when it's not me) agro a random mob or simply have as target a mob who is 50 meter away from me
• Grant a free transfer to another server;
well with all you restriction some friends was forced to start to play to a another server, but so far SE provided a good feedback so I expect that from SE ^^
• Possibility to chose the quantity when we craft something,
to level up, we sometime do X time the same thing or when it's a basic element for other craft e may need it X time, why not make it easier and avoid some useless click ^^
• Automatic logout after 30 min of inactivity
well I guess you are working on it, since it make sense and it would reduce some of current issue

Part 2
• the possibility to kick someone from a group under some condition
honestly sometime it's a must have ^^
• Language oriented server:
the general chan is sometime a intensive poly language cursus (ENG, FR,GER,ITA,POL,....) make the chan confusing
• Euro Datacenter
reduce some lag issue
• Possibility to report a player/bot
Would be easier for SE spot gils seller
• When we use the chocobo taxi or either in a city to move from X to a X instead of having a list of destination show it on the map

Not really a gameplay idea, but certainly related. Um... a strategy guide would be nice.

Please allow mogmail between characters on the same account.

I know the measures in place were meant to discourage gil seller spam, at least through mail, but let's face it - it's not going to stop the spam. You still get it in zone chat, you still get it in /tell. The better option is to simply block mogmails from blacklisted names. All the current measures are doing is creating a damned inconvenience for players that want a mule character, or want to share low level, non-soulbound items with without having to have a friend act as an intermediary.

My list:

1) Allow me to send mail to people other than on my Friends list.
2) Allow me to send a tell to friend while they are in a Duty.
3) Right Click-(Report-Auto Add Blacklist)

My big 3.

1) The battle system is too spamy - I know that it will take some revamping of the battle system, but with a little effort, the game could be so much more meaningful. I mean, what's the point in normal melee hits? all I do is spam spam spam my skills. It gets old fast and makes each weapon skill less invigorating when used.

At the very least, up the damage for skills, and reduce the recast time. This is the #1 thing that is bugging me. I don't even have to look at my TP bar on Pugilist! I just spam over and over again ; ;

2) Please have some responsible reps looks over what the lines of the NPCS say in quite a few missions and achievements. I'm sorry but lines like this -> http://i.imgur.com/ps117Ky.png are simply tasteless and completely un-immersive. I'm sure it's funny to some, but this kind of crap doesn't belong in a final fantasy mmo.

3) Way too much filler for main story missions, and lack of difficulty in side quests/main stories.

I would like to highlight that a class limit break missions should be a must. Yesterday I was in a situation where I should have used the action but I was unable to use it because I didn't knew how to execute it as a thaumaturge. :( First of all, it is the only action which is activated on PS3 in other way than all other actions! After activating limit break I have to use right stick to select area and x to fire (I am still not sure if this is correct - found on some forum). Second one: the active help tutorial is shown in heated multiplayer situations when people do not have time to read it. Consequently limit break action can be hard to find for new players.

Stump tails for the Miqo'te, like a bobcat's tail.

I'd like to be able to see how many level allowances I have available on my character sheet. And a timer on there that shows how long until more are added.
