Legacy characters?

I'm just wondering if all of the characters we had in 1.0 should be available now? One of my alts from back then is available to me but not my former main.

They should all be available. If a character is missing, make sure its not on a different server. If its nowhere to be found, send in a support ticket. No guarantee they'll answer it anytime soon with all of the server issues going on.

The only characters i know of that will 'NOT' be there.. (or may not... i'll have to look at that notice again), are any characters who did not reach at least rank 10 in 'some' job/class.

Also, be sure to check the jp Servers and not ONLY the NA/EU.. if you didnt use the website to ask them to place you on specific servers, it may have dumped your character on a random one.

If your missing one you know that was above lvl 10.. then yea, send in a ticket =)

Thanks Rah. I know I chopped and changed a lot to find a server I liked so I may well have been below level 10 on all of them - I can't recall. I'm not too worried - new game, new characters is fine by me given I didn't have much invested the first time around.

I have only been able to get in for a few hours to date due to the server issues, but like what I see so far - and the game runs a lot better now - perhaps a combination of optimised code and a newer PC I have. I have also been getting an odd 'deja vu' as locations seem familiar yet oddly different.

lol I did not play the original but yes actually I think they did keep some of the old areas just revamped

This is actually incorrect - SE imported all active 1.0 characters into ARR regardless of level/story progression (my level 1 GLA alt on Gungnir was imported for instance), so if one of your 1.0 characters isn't showing up in your character selection screen, it's possible it might have been on an account that was suspended/closed. Any characters you once had but deleted also will not have been imported either.

Otherwise, contact SE about this - during Beta phase 3 and 4 1.0 players were meant to check to see if their 1.0 characters had been properly imported into the game so it is sadly possible some might have slipped through the net so to speak.

This game does run better than 1.0 did. It was actually said that they optimized the code so that both the minimum and recommended specs were lower, even though it looked better! I have the same computer and I couldn't run on Max in 1.0 (had to run just below) but am having no problem on this one.

The game does not look better then 1.0. In some places it looks really bad with texture resolution. The way shadows are cast is better ( I don't know the specific term for games but its ray trace shadowing in maya) but the overal lighting has gotten alot worse. That's why things look washed out and there are sometimes no shadows under someone arms. It's not bad but it's definetly not better, it's definetly taken a hit to the lighting system and the texture quality.

Really? Hmm, well I will admit I upgraded my monitor since 1.0, so it could just be that...Either way, the game still looks beautiful!

It does, I understand why they did it and it runs very smoothly because of the limitations they set but I just miss the graphics of 1.0.
The thing I notice most is the lighting, in 1.0 there was noticeable ambience and bounce lighting in the environment that gave those nice blend shadows, the Midtone values.
In ARR the lighting is simply on or off unless there are independent light sources like those found inside, those look great. But the sun lighting is just on or off
It probly I just stands out to me most because I'm a 3D artist so I can see what others can't when it comes to stuff like this. Again a beautiful game

Thanks - but been so long I can't remember what I had at what level, so as noted will just start anew. Great info for any other 1.0 refugees though.
