Cross Class Abilities for WHM

I have tried to have a look at some things online with Google search but there isn't anything very useful at the moment.

I was wondering which classes I should go for to get some cross class abilities that I will be able to use with my healing. Low Arcanist at the moment hasn't given me anything good for my healing, I did take Virus though but Psyhick is the same as Cure I (so far Arcanist gets the better deal when they go CNJ :().

I saw a table (that wasn't very useful because they didn't tell me which colours represented which class) but I gathered from one of the abilities that can carry over for the THM that I can use on WHM. Is THM good to go for for a WHM? Just to get the cross class abilities I mean.

There are a lot of other classes but I don't know much about a lot of the other classes abilities and if they will be useful to my healing.

Definitely get Thm to 26 for swiftcast. That what I'm working on right now :D

Things that a WHM can set from other classes:

Ruin ACN1
Physick ACN4
Virus ACN12
Eye for an Eye ACN34
Thunder THM6
Surecast THM8
Swiftcast THM26

plus, obviously, the entire CNJ list. Sum of it, though, it's not a very impressive list for supplementing healing, but there's some mechanics usefulness in the two S*casts, both Virus and EfaE might have mitigation uses, and Thunder is good for cast-and-move-on. I'm curious as to metagame thoughts about EfaE eventually.

Overall cross class abilities are pretty lackluster for WHM imo.

The only "must have" I would consider out of our choices is Swiftcast from lvl 26 THM. You want this primarily if you should need to combat res someone 8 sec vs 0 sec .... not a tough call.

The second on my hit list is Eye for an Eye, it's not a game changer, but it is the only other "healing supplemental" type skill available. Would be nicer if it wasn't 180 sec CD. Available from lvl 34 ACN.

3rd I grabbed Virus.... just cause. It's an ok debuff that i usually forget that is even on my hotbar.

after that.... i haven't even bothered personally.

As for surecast... you may as well grab it but i am not a big fan. It will prevent you next spell from being interrupted, something that i personally find happens very rarley (at least up to 46 where I currently am). There may be specific mechanics that it may come in handy for down the line, but i see this as a highly situational skill.

These are the three highest priority ones, all will help you immensely in the harder dungeons and Primal Hard Modes.

The above link is where I've found some good info on cross class abilities, but as people said you'll want arc to 34 and thm to 26 that should be optimal.

Definitely get swiftcast from THM at 26. You can put getting ACN to 34 for Eye for an eye on hold for a bit, its the SCH equivalent to stoneskin from WHM and not as effective as it sounds unless lots of hits happen swiftly to the tank. I.E. trash pulls or over pulls, in those cases its far and away better than Stoneskin, but Stoneskin is much more useful for starting bosses or small packs.

I was under the impression that on jobs you are ONLY allowed to use abilities from that jobs two classes. Am I wrong in this? -_- If so I really gotta work on THM. Or are these "cross-class" abilities different, and special in that they are usable by other jobs? xD Apologies for my nubness. Had a bad experience on my first hard Ifrit run and now I just don't even feel like playing WHM anymore because they made me feel like I'm totally worthless. :/ (hence the fishing! but hey, I'm enjoying that)

No, You do have a much smaller selection with a Job but not necessarily restricted to the 2 base class. The link above to the wiki has a good list for the cross class traits.

As a side note sounds like you where with a bunch of tools. People that feel the need to constantly assign blame, as opposed to offer advice if someone is doing something wrong are usually the ones really to blame and trying to cover up their own inadequacy imo. Don't let it discourage you, I am honestly amazed at the amount of non-ass hats are around in this game. One of the best communities I think I have ever seen in an MMO. Stick with it, don't let them win.

Cure & Physik both have Potency of 400 I believe, does cure naturally heal more and warrents the extra cast time or is it just overall better to use Physik since it has a shorter cast time? Which of the two should I use on my WHM?

Cure because of Freecure procs. Not sure who told you Physick has shorter cast, it's exactly the same.

Could have sworn Physik was half a second faster. suppose I was just looking at my skills wrong.

I always use cure first and will use that until cureII procs for my free cast (unless of course things are beginning to get out of hand). I took virus so far, I only have Arcanist up to 15 currently and will generally cast it as often as it is up, as it is instant. Of course it sets off the enormously long recast timer though!

This was a great post thank you, i will definitely be heading for swiftcast (i am presuming this makes casting swifter :p).

I do have a question though if anyone is able to help, are there any abilities to help with power re-gen as this would also be a plus for me.
