Here are some extremely serious concerns about the service and status of the servers

So I think we can all agree that FF14 is a rather decent game and furthermore I think we can agree that it is nearly unplayable on account of not being able to login.

I can understand this at launch but seriously here is where the mind boggles:

1. Every single EU server is full and I cannot even get into a queue, instead I get error 1017, when I do get into the queue when it polls for my position i just get booted with 1017 again.

So from my point of view I cannot fathom how they think this is acceptable, what bright spark thought it would be completely fine to implement a queuing system in this way; this is either intentional in which case whoever came up with the idea needs to rethink their solution or it is a bug in which case; why was the queue system never tested?

Oh and as a side note, originally I wanted to know if it was possible to get your race changed as a part of a service: can anyone point me to official information on this matter, thankyou.

Even Wow back before it's first expansion allowed for queues of thousands of people so I cannot fathom why a similar solution was not realised here, it is absolutely frustrating to try to login and be given a dirty looking error message instead of being placed in a queue that actually works.

I would not blink if the queue said i was 10,000 in the queue and polled every minute because at least I would see progress but it is absolutely not acceptable to create a system where I have to manually poll your login server to see if I can even get into the game.

I know you have given free time as well as your apologies but that just won't fly especially after the joke that was 1.0.

Another concern is the mess that is this website, I may be alone here but to navigate this site is an absolute pain in the backside, I even heard some people cant post because you need a character to post; if that is true how will people get support if they are unable to even create a character.

I understand this is a bit of a rant but after 2 days of being unable to login with no easy access to information on what is being done to resolve the problem it becomes rather frustrating.

Click News.
Read about the maintenance starting in 2 and a half hours.
Chill.

2.
They tested everything. the way that the queue works with FFXIV is that if there are place(s) available, you will be queued. If the world is literally full, you're given an informational message that tells you the world is full. I mean, if the world is full, the world is full, a queue won't help with that, all it will do is prevent you from having to actively attempt to login again.

His whole point is he doesn't want to have to click to log in over and over. Regardless if the world is full, build a queue. They say they will be happy if they can just see the number... even if they they are 10,000 and wait for 3 hours thats better than pushing a button over and over again for three hours...

Have patience. Read the notes... If half you people who are QQ'ing about not being able to log in would STOP slamming/spamming the login server and such I bet things would already be going slightly smoother. Give square time to do their updates, they did not expect this game to have such a huge player base from the start and now they have to make up for that.

Also, we are all losing "valuable time" from our 30 day free trial period.. but it's just that a FREE trial period. We didn't pay for it, therefore you aren't losing anything. We're lucky square is even being nice enough to give us time vouchers according to the EULA they could have just said. "You agreed to dealing with downtime and issues so deal with it and we'll fix it when we fix it." Instead Yoshi has apologized and offered things in return. Stop hating on this company that is trying really hard to please lots of immature and impatient people.

I was going to post a long post about this but essentially they got caught with their pants down and that is really all that needs to be said. Everyone in this world makes mistakes and sadly SE made a big one that cost them their launch reviews and judgement. Honestly though having played during WoW's Burning Crusade on launch day; I can easily tell you it wasn't rainbows and butterflys. Blizzard also had the advantage of having experience with large data traffic (Battle.Net for Diablo 2 and Starcraft) so they sort of knew what do and then for the expansions they had a fairly solid idea on what their playerbase looked like for WoW.

Burning Crusade was nothing but lag for the first few weeks and slowly tapered off as players left / servers were brought online and free transfers started getting processed. Wrath of the Lich King was practically flawless on launch day and by Cataclysm they were basically over-prepared (people quitting / leaving the game).

GW2 in my opinion had the best 0-day launch, mostly thanks to the overflow world. I personally experienced no issues.

FF14 1.0 was terrible for retrieving the client on launch day but I don't remember having connection issues (WoW was pretty big around that time so I don't think many people participated).

FF14 ARR during EA was "meh" during launch; some lag and features not working but I could play. However it progressively degraded into large periods of time where I couldn't play and in so was quite possibly the worst launch I have ever experienced.

HOWEVER as a former WoW player this is the first MMO that I can happily call a replacement to it; my only concern is end-game content at this point in time as server stability should be improved by tomorrow.

I completely agree. I also participated in the WoW BC release.. preordered logged on the hour it released. HORRIBLE LAG. Long ass queue times, and lots of DC/Server crashes. I can say that square has maintained a pretty stable server.. it's just not equipped for the people that want on.

I also agree that this is the first MMO since wow that has been a good replacement. Been waiting for something like FFXIV and so glad it's here.

I hope all you people bitching about refunds just get what you want and leave this game. We don't need you.

LOL, you think what they are doing tonight is fixing our problems? No, they just want to reopen digital sales and get more money.

The problem here is the squeenix have done the most amataur, stupid things, in the history of mmo launches by not having a queue system or afk kick timer. No one else was this stupid.

You'll need to purchase 30 day subscription, and it has to go active. So you will have to wait for the free trial to end so the paid subscription gets processed.

Did you play on a small server? Or were you not in player zones? I played on Darkspear from Vanilla until WoLK and BC was the worst expack release they did. The shear amount of players in the town near Hellfire Citadel (Been so long don't remember the names) caused our server to crash multiple times. Caused MASSIVE amounts of lag for the first week until the players got spread out across the outlands.

If you have no faith in what square is doing why are you hanging around? No AFK kick was stupid I agree, and there is a queue system.. IT TURNS OFF WHEN THE WORLD IS FULL. Meaning even a QUEUE won't get you in...it's FULL. I've been in the queue on this game MANY MANY times in the past week.

No wonder Japan doesn't want to send alot of their good games to the states for us.

Was on one of the biggest servers in the game, frostmourne, being in Australia our launch was before you guys though. I was on Illidan in vanilla, probably the 2nd biggest server after blackrock. We had a lot of people in hellfire, but it didn't crash at all. Infact I don't even remember it crashing at all near launch (or much at all, ever, after vanilla).

The queue system actually doesnt work, sometimes you get straight in, sometimes you join queue and it kicks you saying the world is full. Cheers though, for your not so correct fanboi opinion.

Japan has good games? News to me.

A full world will open up a queue. I don't think you understand how a queue system works. There should be no limit to how many people are in the queue. They just need to understand that if they are the 1,200th player in the queue, they shouldn't go and yell at SE that they have to wait 4 hours to get in. They're in the queue, they'll see their progress, maybe hope other players ahead of them give up so they progress faster, but the point of a queue is to demonstrate to the player that, yes, you are in line, and you will be next to play when your turn comes up. As it currently stands, you have to spam the shit outta the Lobby server, which actually is more degrading to their infrastructure than holding 100,000 people in a queue across all worlds.

The problem is Square Enix doesn't have the pipeline to hold 100K or even 5K in the queue system.

I don't think you understand, they are using the queue system and turning it on and off to throttle the logins to prevent servers from capping out, so the queues are not active all the time as a counter measure to the extreme traffic. I understand the concept of queues quite well thanks, and they are operating correctly - while they are actually turned on.

As for their lobby server, it's done pretty well considering that it's effectively been under DDOS attack since launch by virtue of the extreme demands placed on it.
