Mouseover Macro buggy for anyone else?

I've been using the mouseover in macros exclusively this past weekend while healing dungeons.

What i've noticed is that sometimes, even though i know i'm moused over my target because the little dot is next to their name and their pane is lit up, it will not heal them, it will instead heal me.

It was happening about once each pull this weekend so i thought it was my macro.
I took out the portion of the macro where if i'm not moused over something it will heal <me> just because i thought that might be bugging it, but even when I took that out of the macro it would still sometimes heal me rather than the tank i was moused over.

has anyone else had this issue?

i have the same problem, finally i deleted the on mouse over part of the macro, a friend says it could be because of the intended target´s distance from you, so even when you have mouse over the target you cant cast Cure on him so the macros goes on, i´m not sure if this was or not the issue but i already get used to change targets with the old move&click xD

It's probably because you're too far away.

For tank heals, I personally prefer a different macro.

The mouseover macro works better for the DDs as I just mouse over their name in the party menu, fortanks, I use the following:

/ac Cure <tt>

That will heal the target of your target, so if you're targeting the boss and the tank has aggro, using that macro while you're targeting the boss will heal the tank.

I thought that too but there were fights where, the tank was just tanking the boss, and hadn't moved at all, I had just casted heals on him 2 or 3 times before that, and he hadn't moved, then like the 4th cast it would cast on me.

I've been healing dungeons with nothing but mouse over and have had zero issues. The only things I could say are distance or LoS possibly. Are you on PC or PS?

Can we use mouse over on ps3 with mouse and keyboard ? And if not can we get a petition started please

i am on PC

i had the same issue with MO, what i used to fix such issue is every time casts a mo spell, i move my mouse to somewhere else not on the target then move back in, forcing triggering another check on my mouse position on the target. I think there's something in their mo checking mechanism that your MO target will lose after a certain amount of idle time.

I had this problem wipe the group once. The macro just wouldn't heal my target and by the time I opened actions menu the tank was dead. Really hope they fix this since I've only used <mo> macros to heal in MMO's for years, clicking anything feels so clunky to me.

Yeah, it's still happening to me, i'm for sure it's not range or any of those factors, hopefully its a small bug they can fix after their many larger issues.

I have the same mouseover issue. It's pretty maddening. I know it's not Distance/LoS because I've seen it happen when I'm standing on top of the tank. I'm heals and a I have a real life friend who tanks for me and we've run quite a few dungeons together so he's been helping me diagnose but so far I've found no good solutions. I'm glad I'm always in voice chat with him so I can tell him to burn cooldowns when it happens! :)

Are targeting the Boss and trying to MO target the tank? If so, maybe try the other way around?

I personally target the tank in every dungeon I run and then off target the boss/mob to add to the DPS when I get a chance. Saves from having to panic target the tank. But I use a controller and not keyboard/mouse.

I've been having this same issue for a while. It usually only happened once in a while so I thought the problem was with me but earlier during a Haukke run, I tried to heal the tank 3 times and all 3 times it healed me instead and nearly got him killed. It wasn't distance or line of sight since we were in a small room with no obstacles around.

I'm thinking of just always keeping my selection on the tank and adding a heal target after mo heal in case mo ever bugs out again.

I'm having a similar problem, and I don't know if its because i have 2 separate macros for Cure and Cure II....

This is what I'm running:

I also almost had a tank die on me in Haukke Manor when I first ran it after creating these macros. I tested them on myself in town just to make sure they worked but I didn't do any testing with rapidfire throwing of heals.

I've tried all of the following variations:

And the game will randomly target me for the heal when using the macro. I notice it usually happens when you are casting lots of heals in a row, like 2+ on the same target. I had to go back to using individual heal spells for now because some situations you can't afford to let the tank die because of a misfire.

This happens to me all the time. It occurs maybe for maybe 5% of casts, removing the <me> chunk of my macro does nothing.

It's just a bug with <mo> occasionally reporting your character's name instead of your mouseover's. It's been in-game since at least phase 2.

I've never had this issue o.o

In fact, I feel like mouse overs in this game are great compared to other mmos *cough cough* rift * cough cough*.

It can't be LOS and or distance because I get an error in my chat log when I try to MO someone meeting said circumstances.

I have this issue too. Casting back to back will often cause a heal to heal me instead of target

Are you guys mouse over the actual player or the name in UI? I recommend to take the cast @ me and target out of your mouse over macro. As sometimes the mouse over doesnt register that you have moved in to the correct range if you have jumped, for example. Just have a targets target macro as a back up.

I tried mousing over the player and their health bar in the party UI...neither work-it just constantly casts on me now. I tried just breaking down the macro to just <mo> and it still just self casts now. That's also when I'm standing next to the person...Have to resort to clicking again :/.

That shouldn't happen. Mouse over will only use the skill if the mouse is hovered over someth

What I noticed is that when I have a simple "/ac cure <mo>" macro it will never fail. If I add a line to it with "/ac cure <me>" it will sometimes bug and heal me instead of my mouseover target. Not very often but often enough to cause some annoying wipes. I have since given up on adding another command to my <mo> macros and they are working great.

I have a combo <mo> <t> <me> macro. Even while in range, sometimes the wrong target is chosen and I get a self-cast.

I noticed when I hover over a name on my party list, sometimes there's a bit of a flicker. Wondered if that was affecting the <mo> cast. Still haven't really tested it out.

Just wanted to post my experience with this. Last Saturday I had the same issue happen using the same MO macro's as have been posted in this thread. It started at the beginning of a Haukke Manor run (had worked fine earlier that day) and the mouseover simply stopped working all together for all my macro's (god it was a pain to actually click on party members, I've become so lazy). I assumed it was some kind of bug but just swapped jobs and haven't tested it again since. Will give it a try tonight and see if its still happening for me.

Ok, I was being retarded. When I switched to WHM after getting it I equiped the spells rather than macro's to my cast bar. Macro's seem to be working fine... for now...

For mouseover macro's i highly recommend not stuffing all these other commands into it.. use it for what it is.. mouseover...

That is all you need.... In your UI settings click "Always show party frames" then move yer frames to a comfortable spot, and never worry about healing someone by actually physically mousing over them..

Hope this can be of some help!

Theres a reason everyone stuffs those "other lines" into there.

Its because its proven effective at reducing reaction times.

Typically in a raid, you need to move constantly.

So you have the main tank targetted, and the right mouse held down constantly for ease of strafing.

This way, you press your mouseover, you automatically heal the tank.

When you need to self heal, just press esc and autoheal yourself.

When you need to raid heal, thats the only time when you need the mouse over your raidframes.

With your way, you MUST mouseover tank, yourself, etc to let off a heal, instead of being able to strafe right before and after, saving you time.

Also we all know how crappy the clicking in this game is, sometimes taking 3 or more right click + holds to actually snap the camera and let you strafe.

This is the effect I macro for, and what I get - 95% of the time. That last 5% pops can be a real pain in the ass, and it'd be nice if the macros were refined so this didn't happen.



Some days I really miss <st>. Pre-casting with sub-target macros got real comfortable after a while.

..but I don't miss having to sit in combat.

I should be able to stuff all the other commands in my macro. The fact is that the thing doesn't work 5% of the time and it can cause a wipe. They need to fix it.
