Guide to dungeoneering through duty finder

Are you joining dungeons through the Duty Finder? This guide is for you!

I will carefully explain to you the different roles within a group, and how to get the most out of them in a public-group-setting.

CNJ/WHM/SCH:
Apply stone-skin once in a boss-fight, then stand around sitting on both of your hands and only heal the tank with HoTs until he is almost dead. Make sure to spam-heal during every non-boss encounter, especially fights with multiple mobs, then proceed to run away from the tank when you have aggro. As SCH, make the least out of your fairies and use your buffs incorrectly; they're OP, it's only fair you balance them out through misuse.

THM/BLM:
Don't over-use bind or sleep, the healer will only get bored if they don't have to spam-heal the tank against 5 trash-mobs. Make sure you sleep the first mob in a pull, the tank will surely not attack it. Just DPS with one hand, because your insane damage will be enough contribution, ignore all utility-skills. Sit on the other hand. If you want to make sure you're going to have a good time, party-up with another THM/BLM before queuing, your combined monster-DPS is going to make the dungeon a blast!

ACN/SMN:
Use your tank-pet and sit on at least one hand. Don't move your pet out of red circles and don't heal it yourself, that would just be trying too hard. Don't forget to neglect your DoTs, you don't want your party getting used to having DoTs on all mobs in a group-pull.

ARC:
The tank will usually put numbers on the monsters. #1 is the one he will kill, you attack #2. If a monster comes for you (noob tank!), kite it in circles, away from the tank and healer- if you stop, you're dead!
Also, you should be attacking monsters as soon as you see them, the tank will be thankful for pulling them close.

MDPS-classes:
Always stand next to the tank, in front of the mob. Try to stand in every red circle and cone, don't bring any potions, start a few downloads before joining the dungeon so you have a good amount of lag, and don't forget to rage at the healer, the tank, the broken game and your parents. Also, you should probably go sit on your own face right now.

GLA/PLD/MRD:
Mark targets, roll face, die due to people sitting on their hands.

If you follow these instructions to the letter, you can not fail.

I had the worst PUG group last night. The healer didn't heal, the tank didn't taunt enemies off of the dps, several wipes. I sure hope everyone reads this to get a clue lol.

I've been doing it wrong all this time!!!

I've only hit a bad party once in this whole time(if I don't count the time when my FC sourced group ran into the final boss of maws while I was still watching the cutscene and thus left me outside the whole fight). But yeah. Perfect guide on how not to do it ;)

Interestingly enough, I had six dungeon runs so far - the three beginner dungeons, once in beta 3, once after launch. And all six groups were friendly, professional and the only time one of my groups wiped was in beta 3 because that was the only way to reset a bugged-out encounter ;) The tanks tanked, the healers healed, the DPS followed target assignments, crowd control was applied, people congratulated each other on loot and said thank you and goodbye at the end.

I wonder how long my lucky streak will last.

You forgot that whm's should run in and use that knockback of theirs for no other reason than it's off CD.

Sure, the tank is tanking it, the DPS are hitting it, but if you can throw it, bound, into the next trash pack... Well there's no good reason not to!

That's a very good point; I considered adding this tactic to the OP, but I fear it might be a bit too advanced for most players.

Also everyone needs to spam the jump button because if you are not jumping during you attacks you do less dps

Dude l-o-l. This post will make any tank laugh/smile. Wait till you run 50 dungeons and people put bombs on top of you.

Anyways I've never had Duty Finder issues, I always select all the languages but somehow seem to end up in all Asian parties.

Incase you didn't know: Them Asians Know How to Dungeon!! Language can't hold me.

Don't forget Cleric Stance. I need a reason to use up all those ethers I get, otherwise they'd take up too much inventory space!

I dunno about that. I queued up for an Ifrit with an all JP group. The tank couldn't hold hate off the Lancer and nobody would attack the nail except for me (Archer). I even spammed <t> {Full Attack!} about 10 times and nobody moved off Ifrit. After the second wipe I was done.

Archer: Attack the tanks target, but blow all your cool-downs as fast as humanly possible. The tank is bored to tears spamming 1-2-3 and wants a challenge. He'll thank you for providing!

(I love spamming arrows :3)

That happened to me too! The tank did not do his job but the healer pulled EVERYTHING. The tank was almost always behind us. They also didn't listen to the boss mechanics when we got there. We managed to beat it in only a few wipes. But seriously.. don't roll tank if you don't want to lead.
