Goobbue Mount

SE should consider making the Goobbue an obtainable mount again. ARR new players will appreciate this limited mount that is currently for 1.0 players. I feel like I'm missing out :(

Agree with Dastard, certain things should stay only to those who played before in the past. There will be plenty of stuff to get for years to come.

It's fine man. They get to show off their uniqueness on their own server where everyone is just like them.

I always thought they should have made it a account based item like the CE stuff.

As a 1.0 player, I agree they should make this obtainable again.

Don't be surprised if you see them add one in the future. It'll probably be a different color or have a different color blanket on top of it's head.

I have a goober but I don't see why they shouldn't add it to the game again. Other than for 1.0 players to ride around on it thinking they are a bit more special cause they have something that you don't.

well, i guess we can have the goobbue mount again...

if we can get a second chance at legacy again~ those two were supposed to be limited time things, i'd imagine they were more like "thank you" gifts from SE for sticking around in 1.0

I agree and before people start saying oh if you wanted the mount you shouldve brought the game blah blah blah Well let me tell you I did buy the game had it fully paid for the Playstation then it flopped on the PC and got canceled until further notice on the playstation its not my fault I had the game paid for.

Goob wasn't about paying for 1.0. A lot of people had paid for the game on PC too, and most of them quit the day that the extended free trials ended, well before Goob was released. Goob was the only thanks that a lot of players got in 1.0 - those who didn't sign up in time to accrue legacy status before servers came down, but still paid a subscription fee for a month or two more than the majority. I sympathize with players in your position, but taking the voices of those who possibly would have joined the supportive minority, and putting their voices before the thanks that was given to people who definitely supported the game financially, would be a slap in the face to those few players who supported the game instead of wiping their hands clean at the end of free service.

Instead of wanting gobbue mount, how about making 1.23 available to play again? It's not just about the mount. XD

This feels like having FFX-2 without FFX, or FFXIII-2 without FFXIII. lol

Just wait, there will be more things available for limited times. It's not like a F2P game where you can get everything from a cash shop at any time and at any level. In a P2P game, limited availability items serve to encourage people to maintain their subscriptions, so they don't just drop and resub later when they are bored.

Erm... SE never released FFXIV V1 for the PS3. You never bought that game. I don't doubt someone took money from you, but SE certainly never saw a dime of it.

Not everyone was able to play 1.0. I bought 1.0 ,but it wouldn't run on my laptop. How am I to play an online game that I must buy a new gaming computer just for this game. I'm not made out of money.

I support this. I'm fine with 1.0 people getting something small to feel special, it was called legacy. I joined a legacy server to play with my guild and it does feel like a punishment to see an ingame item I can't work to attain in a P2P game (which is what P2P games are about I'm told, the freedom to work and achieve/attain everything ingame because nothing is paywalled) . Most new players are just people who were smart enough to heed the good advice of NOT buying 1.0 afterall.

That's what the benchmark was for. To keep people from wasting money on a game that they can't play.

next thing, OP will want the black legacy chocobo, followed by the tattoo. And then he wants to see the story cutsence that only legacy char experienced, and so on and so forth.

there are other far more empowering items in the game that is quite also exclusive, aim for those instead.

Goobbue mount was a limited quest and i think i heard long ago from people that they took him off saying the NPC was arrested for giving Goobbue Mount. So limited Edition. ...

Is people gonna complain for the Raven ring. I want it i want it make it available ... i dont have it cos i didnt finish in time and i dont mind

And people complain but i couldnt play cos of my pc wasnt good enough. It's the same thing AS i couldnt play cos i didnt buy the game yet. It's not SE problem if you pc is not good. you want SE to buy you your own PC to play too ???

Did I say it was a waste of money? No it wasn't. I just couldn't play that's why I'm supporting now, because I can play their improved game accessible not only to PC but Ps3 players.

It never stops.

If they get goobbue they will whine about White Ravens
If they get White Ravens they will whine about the dalamud horn
If they get the horn (giggity) they will whine about the tattoo
If they get the tattoo they will whine about the chocobo
If they get the chocobo they will whine about the storyline
If they get the storyline they will whine about the discount
If they get the discount they will whine that all the new players can get everything they got, why can't things be made exclusive damnit, they worked for that stuff.

Just like legacy can't be obtain. I think the Gobbue shouldn't.

As a 1.0 Goobue owner... everyone needs to stop being so damned precious. It's a mount - which is just a differently coloured chocobo. You didn't have to do anything special to obtain it, except get a level 30+ job and speak to an NPC. It wasn't exactly an 'achievement'. So to all those saying "No, it's my mount and you can't play with it..." Grow up. If SE decided to add the Goobue again, good for them, and i hope it brings lots of new 2.0 players, and 1.0 players who missed it pleasure. Now stop whining and enjoy the game.

The slippery-slope argument has never been a good reason to oppose something. It is one of the most obvious fallacies out there.

Actually, it doesn't 'work on both sides', simply because people are allowed to 'want it'. The real question you have to ask, is:

"What harm or negativity does it bring to the game, or the community by allowing people to have it?"

The Answer - none, it provides no advantage, it required no skill or effort to obtain, it is purely a cosmetic mount. The slippery slope of "If they get this, they will want raven/discount/blahblahblah" is a ridiculous argument, and people have already pointed out the fallacy in this, elsewhere in this thread. However, by not allowing it again, you create this divide and threads like this.

Again, as a 1.0 Goobue rider, I support this coming back to new/old players again. Simply, because it will do no harm, and it will stop others being so damned precious about a mount.

I don't care if other people can have the mount too. I have my lifetime discount and that is the only reason I kept playing 1.0

It's not a slippery slope argument, a slippery slope argument would be that SE would need to give in on the Goobbue before the complainers would request the rest. Unfortunately, there've already been requests in the beta forums for all of the above *cough*except for the Dalamud Horn. No-one gives a fig about that*cough*

I can't see any reason why you would be opposed to giving people any of the other things if you are for giving them the Goobbue. All of them are content that was earned exclusively through version 1. Why not argue for new, awesome mounts rather than rehashing old content. Is it just because someone else has a toy that you want?

The Answer - Players were promised something would be exclusive and limited time only. This item may even have driven someone to subscribe for that month. By then making the item not exclusive anymore that player may feel like they were cheated into subscribing or that the item they obtained has lost value. It's like offering promotional items for collectors editions, then making those items available for purchase later. Something a lot of players have an issue with across many genres

Additionally, by telling players that items would be exclusive and limited time only and then going back on that, it erodes trust between the community and the developers.

Don't pose a question then immediately answer it yourself without giving people with an opposing viewpoint a chance to answer it. That's called a strawman, you are misrepresenting the viewpoints of those you are arguing with to make your argument easier.

What about the seasonal items? Or the White Raven? Should they be also obtainable again?
I see Goobbue as a reward from a seasonal event. You missed the event, you missed the reward.

The Goobbue was promised as a one-time reward. If SE bring it again, people would expect it with all other one-time rewards. And they would scream, whine and complain if all the other one-time rewards remains one-time rewards and they would point to the Goobbue.

What SE can bring is another mount (not a Goobbue) as a one-time reward.

And a relic is just a weapon in a video game. Will it hurt anyone's experience if they give those away for free too? At the end of the day all the items are worth exactly $0.00.

We have four seasons in the year, they come around each year. So why can't it come around again? Want to 'keep it in the lore' - our trusty minstrel friend escaped during the calamity.

A lot of what i am seeing is people on both sides being whiney and childish about the mount -

"It's our mount, you can't have it"; "You missed it, tough luck buster"; etc. - To those people, grow up - don't be spoilt and learn to share, it detracts nothing from you if others get it.
Equally, there are those without it who are not requesting it, but crying for it. Again, to those people grow up. Crying and whining is no basis for reward.

However, there are plenty of people - both those who have the mount already, and those without - who support the idea of it being re-released in some format, and can support it in a mature fashion, because we realise that it is a game. A cosmetic mount, for a virtual world online game. The simple fact is it will do no harm to re-release it to players old and new. Put it in a limited time frame again if it makes you feel better, but please stop being so childish and possessive over it.

Sorry, the technique of Goobbue charming is a closely guarded secret!
