Is anyone else not getting put in a queue? In the past few days of trying to log in to Balmung I was only put in to a queue once. Everytime I try to log in I just get Error 1017. Is everyone else getting this or are others getting put in a queue?

No.. they kick ont he queue when it's not overly congested.. aka what it's for. LMAO... They didn't design the system right, apparently... Like the no afk booter.. which they didn't design at all. Happy gaming!!!
Any word on when this will be fixed? This is ridiculous... been trying to log on for an hour now, still getting the 1017. Hope they don't expect me to actually pay for a game that I can't play... not happening.
I would rather wait in a queue that is counting down than get the 1017 error and have to hammer the login to try to get in. At least I know what is going on and how long I have to wait before I get in. I don't want to see this game fail a second time because nobody can get in to play the game. I certainly don't want to pay money to sit and wait. I might as well flush the money down the toilet.
You me and everyone else.
If it's not fixed by Wednesday as stated, this game just shows you how crappy their Dev team is, and it won't get better. If they just add more servers.. I'll be highly ticked off. That won't solve anything... esp since their cap is tiny..
Not sure why this dev team refuses to use industry standard population control mechanisms to its fullest potential.. -_- *sigh*
I can wait til Wednesday. Actually, I'm fine as long as it gets fixed before free period expires - I'm just not going to pay for something that I can't play, it's as simple as that.
Agree with GuruChaz, though - having to spam login is absolutely unacceptable. VERY poorly designed.
The most frustrating part is that it plays nearly the same music it did when my FF1 NES cartridge used to glitch out and not work at the beginning... All jokes aside, I certainly understand limiting players so that all play does not degrade, but the lack of a queue system seems very odd.
Just to throw this out there.. you do realized you paid for the game already, right? You're paying to wait as is. Right, you're not on sub yet, but you paid to be a beta tester, really... which companies usually hire done or allow loyal fans do, free.
But yes.. spamming login is unacceptable and will always be.. There has been queue systems better in place in late 90s. Come on SE. lol
The queue system is what they use to let people in game to play without interruption or feel the heavy flow. Bad design... that's all.
There is a Que system they just keep disabling it since it was causing issues with how many people were connected to the server via the Que it gets turned on from time to time when the server is 100 or so from cap I think just so they can stagger the people and not have them all login at once.
I have been a queue that counts down, then says that the world is full after all. Not sure which dictionary they use to define queue, but they are clearly doing it wrong.
Honestly, they should have already upgraded in preparation for the holiday weekend. It should have been a no brainer for them.
That happened to me once. I didn't play that night. I was too pissed to enjoy the game at that point.
Poor queue system = poor player experience.
No afk booter = poor player experience
Low server cap = poor player experience.
When the hype is gone, people hit 50, see the story.. SOME will be gone. It's just how it works.. adding more servers creates dead zones. sounds fun!
Stupid company :(
I got into queue 6 times in the last 4 hours, each time ended in 1017.
The sad thing is there are companies with far less money and far sketchier pasts that can and have implemented better server protocols. Take Star Trek Online for instance: Before I got a lifetime subscription I had to sit in their idiot queue for hours on end to get on. There were times you'd have 20,000+ characters stuck in that queue due to the messed up way Cryptic's queue system work and yet you would eventually get on. If you somehow disconnected from the queue you could simply get back on, none of this 1017 error ad nauseum nonsense.
While the queue is definitely necessary I would say at this point the AFK protocol would have the biggest positive impact on congestion. The queue won't do much when you have literally dozens if not hundreds of characters sitting in the town areas for hours or days on end. Implement the AFK protocol and I wouldn't be surprised if the online population dropped by half within two hours.
you idiot. you absolute idiot!
it's not a free period.
why are there so many idiots who think they haven't paid for these first 30 days and that it's ok if the game doesn't work for the first 30 days because they think its a 'bonus, extra, free 30 days' that the company did them a favour by 'granting'. oh my god, idiots. did I mention ya'll's idiots?
it is infuriating how silly you are.
The problem with that is I believe that's an intended game feature. XI was exactly the same. It promotes another option to the Auction House. I'm not sure if you played XI but if you did and you crafted I'm sure you remember how convenient it was to have that person AFK with their Bazaar up in the crafting place with necessary materials without having to travel from AH to AH. Also, I found the very last Mog Tablet in the very FIRST mog tablet festival because of a Galka that sold over priced Sneak/Invis/Certain Sky materias inside Castle of Zi Tah. I found it in the area prior to the Hall of Gods.
Yeah, I know - don't remind me, it makes me madder than I already am, lol.Quote:
