SCH Bubble Question

So the tool-tip for Adloquium reads: Erects a magicked barrier which nullifies damage equaling the amount of HP restored. When critical HP is restored, damage nullification is doubled.

What I'm wondering is, let's say your regular heals recover 500 HP, and a crit heal recovers 1000 HP. Is the bubble on the crit 1000 or 2000? Basically, I'm confused as to whether or not the "doubling" is referring to the extra healing you're getting because of the crit, or if it's a doubling on top of the extra healing caused by the crit?

If the latter is the case, wouldn't that turn Adloquium into an 1800 potency "heal" when it crits? (300 potency heal x 2, 600 potency shield x 2)

I just took it to mean that if I got a crit of 500, the bubble would be 1000.
If I crit for 1000, the bubble would be 2000.

I'm sure someone will have the proper answer but that's how I've understood it.

I thought it meant that if you heal someone in critical health to take them out of that, the bubble is double what your cure was. If the tank is in critical HP with 100HP and you heal them for 500, their bubble would be 1000.

this actually crossed my mind as I was going over my newer skills, i took it as doubles whatever HP was healed by the Crit. so if you healed 1000 the bubble would nullify 2000 before vanishing. after using it for awhile it seems as thought that would be the likely case.

:/ Am I the only one that thought differently? My assumption was that if you normally heal for 150, and get a 150 bubble, your crit heal would make a 300 bubble, as in the bubble would be twice it's base. Is a crit heal always twice what a normal heal is? I haven't had many crit ehals to check. It would be nice if you could mouse over the adloquium buff icon and it tell you how much damage it absorbs, then you could easily test it.

I assumed the critical modifier wouldn't be factored into the shield strength.

I decided to do the math. Crit myself with Adloquium for 553. Fought a Natalan swiftbeak, and looked at the log. Regular attacks did around 120, parried attacks did around 90~, and crit for around 180. He hit me 9 times total, with 2 parries, 2 crits, and the last hit doing 80 damage (so, absorbing the last 40 damage of the shield).

First, a quick observation. My regular Adloquium hit for around 350~. The mobs auto attack crit for 50% than a standard attack, so it seems like crit potency is 150% of base.

The mob did around 1,060 damage total before dropping the shield, which seems to clarify that a crit shield is double the stated value on the crit heal itself. So, this basically means that a crit shield is 300%+ more powerful than a regular shield. Added up, Adloquium's crit potency is ((300x1.5)x(450x2)), so around 1350, compared to the base potency of 600, including the shield. If there's any really dumb mistakes here, please let me know!

If this is true, it certainly makes our shielding a lot more godlike than I previously believed. If only we could stack Crit gear.

It's a huge gamble for the mana cost though. I personally rarely use Adloquium because its only cost effective if it crits. Otherwise its really trash and will train your unlimited mana. It's a spell you cast if you need more burst healing but Lustrate already serves this purpose really well.

Errr... What's stopping you? There is Critical Hit Rate on plenty of Scholar gear, including AF gear. You can meld Savage Aim to plenty of gear, too. Heck, Omnilex +1 offers 37 Spell Speed while the Allagan weapon for Scholar offers 37 Critical Hit Rate, other than that they're identical... Usually I'd dismiss Omnilex +1 out of sheer spite for how worthless Spell Speed has shown to be thus far, but if any Class gets anything out of Spell Speed, it's Arcanist/Scholar; Enhances Pet Actions (also benefits from Critical Hit Rate) and Fey Glow offer us nice boosts to Spell Speed, so maybe the stat will be noticeable on Scholar (not holding my breath on that, though).

Keep in mind that Fey Glow (and Fey Light) are very, very powerful. The 20% increase shaves about .1 seconds off GCD, which is the equivalent of around 100 Skill/Spell speed at 50.

IMO, bubble heal is only good for when your DPS is dotted up and are about to die. You would bubble heal him and AOE heal with your EoS and then go back to focusing on the tank.

I always treat bubble heal as a DoT mitigation, i rarely used it on a tank. Physic is better, we can spam it non stop without going oom.

Anyone made or know the crit formula?

I think this and some pet ai and control improvement will make sch a good healer.

Bubble would most definitely help in situations where you know big damage is coming (e.g. titan stomps or titan mountain buster). I'd say use physick mainly but bubble up when needed or whenever possible =p

mmm...since you mentioned it, im confused as well, but what I understand of it, is that crit heal < 2*normal heal. Let's say your normal heal is 500, if you cast normal heal, you will get 500 heal+ 500 dmg shield, however, if you crit heal, you'll prolly get around 750 heal + 1000 shield. I believe that is the reason of the tooltip purposely mention about the double amount of the shield.

Does the shield requires hp to be actually restored or it include overheal? just something I had debated with others I game.

It includes the overheal. It's why pre-shielding actually does something.

No it doesn't. It will heal but wont update the shield.

No, which is part of the reason having succor as our only AOE heal kinda sucks, but that's another subject.

A stronger shield will overwrite/replace the previous shield though.

ooo ok, I guess that's fair enough I guess, for us to have a way to not be efficient without that bit edge of effort..
