Don't expect the maintenance tomorrow to magically resolve everything

The problems they're facing are many.

No AFK-logout system, no logon queue system, too few servers to accommodate a growing population, software instability server-side, people playing on servers they don't want to be playing on only because that was the only server available, people asking for free transfers, others.

I can see the extra servers resolving problems for people who are coming to FFXIV, but people who are already leveling up on current servers will not want to start over on a new server, specially after wasting so much time on 1017.

To resolve the problem completely, they have to:

- Implement a functional logon queue system that supports more than the current 300 players
- Implement automatic AFK-logout to reduce unneeded load
- Obviously, increase the amount of servers, at least double what they have now, and have another batch ready to go with the click of a button
- Implement free transfers from existing servers to new servers for a limited time

Well, that's what everyone is expecting for some odd reason everyone thinks all will run smoothly within a week :-)

Cool. Next question would be is when they'll implement this and if it'll actually work. Been reading in a few threads back Gil Farmers/Sellers are starting to take up slots to do their ugly deeds

Just pray and hope friends. This will be the last straw for many people if this isn't a fix.

This weekend was one of the worst for me in a long time, and I blame this game for it.
It's going to be hard to forget.
The maintenance tomorrow better fix this bullshit, I won't waste another weekend on 1017, I'll just find another game.

I do enjoy the game but not gonna lie this login stuff is a real pain.

Actually they dont need new servers they only need to upgrade the current servers' capacity

man if only they would refund me for ps3 and pc i can sleep tight tonight knowing that I didnt give or waste my money. imagine all hours wasted I work 8 hours monday to friday and those days since early release, i spend my time logging in for 2-3+ hours a day that often times still cant log in. I call and text my 5 friends they cannot log in also haha i invited them to play they are frustrated they bought the game because they trusted me now i am embarrassed that i let them try a piece of shit game.

I know you got our money now can i have it back??? there is nothing innovative in your game or special only the graphics.

Im expecting it to reduce the log in time by 10%.

Im sure new worlds will be great for everyone just joining now, but i doubt it will help existing worlds, a hard capped population of still a hardcapped population

This. Im not hoping anymore. Im pretty sure the 10hour maint will probably fix the game for about 1hour then gets fked up again. Thats just how se is doing it since the early access. Anyway i still love the game though, i just hope they pocket less of their earnings and actually spend it to upgrade server not just add new worlds

The spreading out of the duty finder matching will help solve the initial errors that plagued EA (ie duty server couldn't keep up). Maybe when that is solved, the player per world capacity can go up.

I do hope they will offer transfers though! And fix the queue so people aren't terrified of logging out.

There is a log in queue, and it goes higher then you think it does. It's actually easier on the servers to have smaller queues, then to have 50,000 people sit in a queue. People in a queue, cause server load as well.

Why does there need to be a kick system? honestly, give me one good reason for it, one that doesn't involve complaining about people never logging out. And using reduction of server load is a non existent rebut, because the spot fills instantly by someone who was in the queue. There is NO LOGICAL reason behind it. You guys want one in place, because you're greedy, and demand that other greedy people not be allowed to be greedy.

Seriously, the sense of entitlement by people on these forums is so bad, you'd swear this was an F2P game.

Its only going to resolve things for people that completely abandon any work theyve done on the other servers, and make completely NEW characters on the new worlds that open up.

I havnt seen anything about letting people 'transfer' to those new worlds, so even with the new worlds being added, the overpopulation on the other worlds will STILL be there =T

Ive been threw rough MMO launches before, its nothing new to me.... Just its extremely FRUSTRATING, when you have a 4 day weekend, and spend the entire 4 days 'trying' to get into the game, to continue playing the character you have gotten up to lvl 10, only to not be able to log in even 1 time the ENTIRE 4 days.

The game is great, and i love it.... once you can actually get into it anyway.

Even after only about 8 hours of playtime, i still want to play it and still feel its a great game.

I just dont want that 8 hours to be the ONLY time i ever get to play.

Because that 1 person sitting in the Queue might be actually trying to PLAY the game, rather than the guy sitting AFK in the town for 40+ HOURS, doing nothing but spamming for his RMT, korean/china, gold-farming, account stealing, Website. While taking up a spot in the server population limit that could have been filled by... oh i dont know... and actual player?

Because why should X amount of people be unable to play the game because Y number of people sit AFK for 18+ hours at a time taking up space on an already limited system thereby refusing untold amounts of people their right it play the game just because THEY feel their THEIR $30 is SO much more important then the $30 for each person they refuse to let one because they are selfish jackwads? you do know, the kick system will not boot them right? because spamming messages is not considered being AFK. You have to report those people to get rid of them. good attempt at a logical answer though, and your one of few that actually complains about them, when more should be complaining about them. So i do commend you on complaining about a real issue.

Im sure gil farmers are using a bot to spam tells. cause I see them standing on a rock in thanalan all arc shooting the same mobs. Wearing the starting gear. Im totaly against the afk kick system you all are yapping about. I dont care what the reason kicking people from the game aint the solution if you pay your sub you should be able to stay logged 24/7/365 whether your doing anything or not.

If an "idle-time" logout funtion were put in place, as say was in FFXI, I believe it would have to come with the option of "disabling" it as was done in FFXI. Thus defeating the point of adding it anyhow. However, by the principle of wanting an "idle-time" logout function, if you are playing the game and need to eat...you should log out. Need to shower? Log Out, need to go to sleep, work, whatever...LOG OUT. Anytime you are logged into the game and not actively doing anything, you should log out. Regardless of how long or short you are away from the game, your time away is taking away from someone who could be "productively" advancing their character. There is no wrong or right side in this argument it's literally the personification of "two-sides to every story."

as for gil sellers, they're usually either bots, or sweat shop workers(actual sweat shops for anyone that didn't actually know this).

It does support more than 300 players already. Just today, I entered queue with exactly 374 players waiting in line, and I bet others have encountered bigger numbers.

This was actually addressed to be implemented AT the maitenance, or shortly after it. So, yes, this might just "magically" get resolved.

While they have not said anything on the matter, it seems rather too obvious of a measure to be taken, so let us hope they will eventually do just that, once bigger issues get dealt with, which should be soon.

2 out of your 4 suggestions were already mentioned and, from the 2 left, only one is acutally worth mentioning: the free transfers, and guess what... There ARE other threads about it, and on the appropiate section (since this topic has nothing to do with "New Player Help").

Sorry to be rude, but just look at yourself... Just stop to look at yourself for 5 minutes and tell us straight to our... avatars... that you are not doing this mainly out of boredom and/or frustration instead of actual good faith to help the game's development, not to mention overestimating the value of your opinions. Or what, will you now tell me that if you sporadically managed to log into the game, you would say "Oh, but I have something important to tell on the forums that might help the game's development... Nah, I'll just log off the game and say what I've to say first and then log back even if it takes me an hour. My own entertainment is not as important as the wellfare of the game in the future, after all...". No, nobody ever does that. Just admit it: boredom and entitlement are this thread's fuel, reason why it is mostly suggesting repeated or addressed actions, as you did not thought it thoroughly, nor did you investigate on what was said to be addressed and what has not.

I seriously hope that english is not your first language because this sentence makes absolutely no sense at all. No one gets to follow? Anyone can follow any time they like. Then again nothing else you wrote makes any sense either. You state that booting someone taking up server space AFK is no different to letting someone in to play, so why not let them in.

if theyre spamming that means they are not afk. they will not get kicked.





Seriously stop bashing AFKERS they are just protecting their slot to make sure they can play the game they paid for. As for those who cannot, it is actually a good idea to try logging in at off peak hours then go afk as well.



The afkers money is just as green as yours. They are also paying to play the game and just taking measures to mget their money's worth. Before they afk im pretty sure they fought the error 1017 as well. They defeated it and gets the right to stay in game as long as they want

current AFKers are simply saving their slot because of developer problem. survival of the fittest. get in play and stay. let the devs sort it out.

and autoboot on idle wont work because then people will just autorun into walls in the main cities. sitting AFK is less server strain that autorunning into walls AFK.

I typed up a logical proof and everything disproving Slater's "greed begets greed" cliche', because honestly it's the most ridiculous thing I've ever read in my entire life, but the forums won't let me post over 1,000 characters. Oh well.

A movie theater room has a limited number of available seat. When you want to see a movie you pay for it, you have your place for the time you are actually using it. It the room is full, what do you do? Do you complain that last time you payed so there should be a space for you anytime? Do you stay seated in the room 'till a next movie you wanna see is displayed?
I mean the fact you pay doesn't mean you get to do what you want. If they decide to reduce the load on the server through automatic kick out then unnecessarily used space will be released for players who need it at the time. Same as your seat in the theater. You rent a space on the server through you monthly fee, it doesn't mean you can just stay logged in even knowing people wait for an empty space.

My question is, they already knew they had problems during the open beta, why wasn't anything done about it back then? there is no excuse with the open beta and early access periods as to why they are still having such server issues now a week after release. This stuff should have been fixed either at release or a few days after tops, especally when even in open beta they knew about the problems.

For the servers, I think they are keeping them low because most generic mmorpgs like ff14 over half the population usually quits after the included month for various reasons, So why waste funds on server hardware when they will just need to fuse servers and the hardware will end up unused, servers are not cheap especally for a game like this.

The problem with that is that it makes it a self fulfilling prophecy, if they don't implement enough extra hardware so that those of us who want to play but cannot log in (thank you afk'ers) get a chance to play and get hooked then at the end of the included month there is no way I'm going to give them any money and I'll go do something else. To be honest if after this weeks maintenance period I still can't log in a play then I'm giving up anyway, I have better things to do with my time than wait 2 hours to get a spot that I can only use for an hour before some kind of server error kicks me out anyway.
