Then they would be complaining the servers are down.
I would rather have the servers down and full prioritization of getting these problems fixed than endlessly cycling through the login. Before the issue of "well the people in the game are happy, why make them log out" is brought up, consider that the sooner these problems are dealt with, the sooner we all can move on to enjoying the game that should have been properly launched.
This is a damned if you, damned if you don't. If people get on they will be playing and not complaining. Those who can't get on will come on these forums and complain. In the end, all this does is the following:
1. Clear the AFKers, which is isn't a bad thing
2. Probably get a whole new set of AFKers as those who get on will probably stay on.
3. Create complaints from people who were in game in the middle of something
4. Eventually bring this back here to the forums as those who can't play start complaining.
I'm sure there are other things people can add.
They could go the whole hog and wipe the servers while they were down, that would deal with the afk'ers and enable everyone to start again on a level playing field. While it would inconvenience those who have been lucky enough to have made a lot of progress without afk'ing they are likely to be few in number and would in any event benefit from restarting on their preferred server with their friends and guildmates, most of those who have made a lot of legitimate progress having done so in far from ideal circumstances.
What are you even talking about? Not communicating? Have you not read anything on the forums? The lodestone? The actual game client news? On twitter? Especially these two threads where the producer addresses the issues personally:
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...s-Restrictions
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...n-Issue-Update
Before you start spouting nonsense, you should take a look at what is being posted by the actual company. Its silly to say stuff "They aren't communicating" when they actually are and are doing their job. These things take time because as Yoshi said, they have to do testing and internal testing before they can even put these changes into place. Which btw if you read the lodestone:
http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...95066b31d7fb59
You can see they have a date/time of when this maintenance is to occur.
hate how this vague info just keeps getting posted
I deal with my problems immediately once I realize they exist. Some people don't do this. I understand that they're limited in their capacity to deal with major problems such as this immediately. Unfortunately, I get the feeling that complete resolution to these problems will be put off until free access (and possibly the "extended" week they're considering) has ended. I may or may not consider throwing some coin at them after this free period, but I certainly won't if this is the case.
Believe it or not, not being able to play an MMO is not a major problem to most people, it's a minor inconvenience. Having said that, I'm all about getting what you paid for, but they've already stated they've tested a fix that will be implemented Wednesday, along with possible compensation to those affected. So for now, there's not much else that can be done about it until after the supposed fix is in place. We'll see how well it works. If it doesn't, then there'll be something to complain about once again.
Adding more servers is fine, altho ppl will just flood to those servers.
- adding a log in restriction is not the answer, adding channels to a game to allow more mobs to be farmed is.
- adding an afk kick will only make ppl use advanced bots to stay in game like Viper.
-what needs to be done is a total number of players on each server section, and the option to freely transfer to said server.
-A lot of guilds are being split up by this and adding new servers will have the same effect when full guilds transfer.
-In order to have a guild transfer effectivly the guild needs to know how much room is left for other guildies to make the server selection.
- In no way should one have to pay for transfers due to the producers error
- Based on the above if done asap ppl will be fine.
- If server service was out for x=number of days,
please credit x=number of days back to the paid account.;)
Are servers down right now? because in the status page they are all listed as Online :/
I understand it's frustrating but you people must realize that SE is doing ALL this out of pocket right now. Everything we're doing is for free so for them to do any switches or corrections to a server costs money, which they aren't really getting a lot of currently. I'm as frustrated as anyone else with this 1017 but what gets me is that I can't even obtain a spot in line to login.
after can always say and hope it'll last this or until next week.
Would help if SE was actually communicating outside of the brief message with some more detail...
Like right now, got ejected during a dng and without prior info etc and now can't log back in, unable to load server.
Emergency maintenance? just random disconnection and error and now im in the error zone?
Wont know until either few hour or a word somewhere warning of it.
I thought this forum was the game?
I can't quite remember which MMO it was that I was playing at launch... but they had a similar issue with overcrowding and they literally shut down the servers for 3 days while they did the grunt-work of adding more. They let us all know when it would be down, when it would be back up, some people raged... but mostly it was quiet.
