Wait... Is anyone else getting this

We all know about the 1017

What I just noticed now is a disturbing pattern during login (and re-login) process. When I start the client I get to the character selection screen where I pick my main and try to log in.

OBVIOUSLY I get the 1017 error. But what's more puzzling, is that after 4 to 5 attempts, I then get the error telling me that the NA/EU server group cannot be found. This completely stops my re-login process, as my character never shows up.

If I restart the client, the NA/EU server list is back :confused:

Here's are some questions:

1. Has anyone recently been able to get the NA/EU server group back after getting the warning message that it's lost, WITHOUT restarting the client?

2. Can anyone else verify that a certain number of consecutive login attempts provoke this "error" to occur?

I really hope that SE hasn't tried to mitigate the spam-login problem by automatically borking our client sessions. I really hope so.

Same thing to everyone. First, world is full, then can't update NA/EU often riddled with lobby connection error and/or greyed out start option. Previously I was able to get in all the time after about 30 min of trying. Not sure if their server watchers are off for today but it's bad. 4 hours on and off and can't get in. The thing that really pisses me off is the only reason I logged out was because the repeated cutscene voiceovers at the end of the main story bugged out my audio (3 times) after watching multiple CSs. If it had not been for that I'd still be in...=

It's almost like they throw that in there to keep people from making macros and just spamming the login

I realy hope it's just a co-incidence.

I don't think it's the number of login attempts, it's how close together they are...

I've tried restarting the client and the lists are still not showing up for me

Sometimes, I am able to get the NA/EU server list back by logging into the game via my only character on a JP server, then logging off and returning to the character selection screen. It is magically able to load after that, until the next time it decides to disappear. Sometimes the list shows up immediately after logging in and out of the JP server, and sometimes I have to log into the JP server two or three times before it reappears.

It's probably flood protection - too many attempts too quickly, and the server blocks you for x seconds (30-60, I'd guess).

I was kind of noticing this yesterday, but it's a hard thing to check (sometimes, the individual log-in attempts take longer, so if it only triggers for attempts less than 2 or 3 seconds apart, the system itself will interfere with that periodically).

I have not had a NA/EU server list all day. Checking every 15 min....Restarting client each time. Just can't pull up the list. I'll try logging into the JP servers.

I suspect that part of the problem is the long weekend, and people that would normally have logged out have instead stayed logged in since they have the time off of work.

basically havent been able to play for two days now keeps getting worse and worse hope weds its fixed if not ffxiv will fail whitch i hope it dosent

Seems like it's still sort of random. I can never get back the server group without restarting the client; but there seems to be no pattern in causing it to go.

I am disappointed. But at least I can remove my tinfoil hat :rolleyes:
