NA/EU world can't update

So on top of the lovely 1017 now we going to have to deal with Data centers from NA/EU not showing.
To morrow maintenance is the last line if they can't find a better solution people will start leaving slowly and not look back, so please SE get your act together and fix this shit please.

Funny thing is a lot of people can say that they leave but guaranteed if they hear 'the servers are perfect.'

They'll hop on back in no time.

Kind of sounds like a relationship.

Love the gameplay, love the progression, enjoy the social interactions of my server so far so I can't say I will quit and not sub for it.
I really just don't appreciate dealing with Square enix again, and dread the future of not only this 'fix' but also their interactions with customers.

Good game, bad servers. If only everyone trying to log into NA servers flooded a JP server to show how stable theirs actually are.

The login errors are insanely ridiculous today, more than usual.

Except for all the people getting chargebacks because SE never delivered the product they purchased. And you can trust me, this is not a small amount of people.

Because I still haven't gotten my physical CE...

If the data center not showing up restart the client fixes it, probably takes 2-3 attempts but that will fix the unable to connect to data center.

There's barely anyone on some of the JP servers at any time of day. You log into Ul'dah and there's like a fifty people in town. My greedy side is starting to wonder why they have so many servers...

I've been getting the unable to update NA/EU for two days. Which makes me a sad panda..

Managed to play an hour this morning then logged off for about half an hour and have not been able to get back on since. I'll just keep trying to log in every now and then and hope I get lucky, since spamming it seems to just make it worse.

I for one will stick with the game, even if the game isn't perfect wednesday. That doesn't apply for a lot of the current players tho.. I really hope SE gets their act together or the game will be a ghost town pretty soon

I'd like to suggest for them to just change the "Server Status" icon at the log on screen from green to RED, at least until AFTER Sept. 3rd (supposedly when they will "fix" this issue). Leaving it as "Green" gives everyone the impression that you can actually log in and enjoy the game, which is a bunch of BS.

It doesn't help that there aren't any updates at all in the forums regarding this issue on the NA/EU side.

Ah nice, I actually managed to get into the game. I guess I got lucky. Unless I'm going to go afk for more than an hour I think I will stay logged in. Well hopefully things will improve soon anyway.

they better fix the log in issue this week, if that means server splits / transfers to new servers they better get their hesd out of their ass now, and start considering how to get it done when their upgrades don't slove the problem

So this is interesting. Got into a DF dungeon, all 8 of us got 90k error booted about 10 mins into it. Before it happened, the mobs stopped running at us and no one could move, but we were able to p-chat until it kicked us. Since then I have been trying to log back in over the past hour or so and this "Unable to update XX character list" has been taking turns on me. First, its NA/EU. Then It's JP. Rinse. Repeat. And when either one of them fails to load, it takes forever for the character select to appear, as the client tries to connect.

It was suggested somewhere else, but if they allowed us to select the server, or at the very least the data center on the launcher instead of forcing the client to attempt to load both, it would hopefully alleviate some of the strain on the lobby server, or at the very least prevent the delayed character selection screen.

I got on my server early in the am and have stayed logged on. Hopefully the update tomorrow will make access easier for all.

i actually got your in Queue 3 players ahead you then got 1017, im starting to think the servers are trolling me

servers not updating is a symptom of thousands of people all trying to log in....

try it enough time and the log in lobby will give you a 1017 error.

my only real concern is that if this issue persists for more than a couple weeks. i hope SE is not succumbing to the preassure of pushing the new servers out when they aren't ready. more servers will be meaningless if they aren't stable.

those of us who have played this game at all know how good it is and will stick around. it all really depends on how soon SE can fix the congestion problem now.

i got logged in this morning then error code and kicked off soon after now I cant get back on... hopefully it gets fixed.

I'm doing the exact same thing... Haven't been able to play for about 2 days now.

Labor Day, no classes, no work, family sleeping after a BBQ means there's going to be a ton of people looking to get on FFXIV. I think SE should have just done all international servers instead of labeling them JP and NA/EU. The lag is like non-existent on a JP server. If they didn't segregate the list, I'm pretty sure character creation would have been more evenly distributed.

They probably planned it like FFXI, but maybe some whiny NA or EU player didn't like the idea of playing with people they couldn't understand. Playing with international folks is fun and makes it seem like you're in a foreign land in-game.

You have a point. The majority of people I played with towards the end of 1.23 were Japanese, and I never had a problem. Hell most of the time people don't talk anyway...at least for me.

I tend to think it's more that the JP's wanted their own little world and not have to deal with trying to communicate with NA/EU players.
I do however agree that they should have not labeled/segregated the world list as it is more fun to just have a mixture of everyone in each server and would have more evenly distributed character creation throughout.

This login boss needs to be nerfed big time. Worst addition to the game yet.

The NA/EU list is up now on my end. now if i could only get in.

Sort of off topic, but why did the Japanese servers get all of the cool summon names, and the vast majority of ours are just monsters? I feel like they could have evenly spread the names around... :(

I agree, I had a JP friend back in FFXI that said that a lot of JP's felt like the NA/EU invaded their game, so they were angry about it and didn't want anything to do with English speakers. We just play by a different set of rules I think, like no conversions over general/shout channels in zones. That's something us English speaking folks do a lot ... I tend to love the entertainment of a long drawn out possibly racist philosophical arguments over zone chats, but that's just me.
