AFK'ers ARE THE PROBLEM

AFKers are the problem. They are the reason this game is being destroyed. We need to get all the AFKers and put them in a camp like horizon. Concentrate them. Then delete them. Send them to the bowl of embers and burn them. Send them to aurum vale and gas them. Send them to touch each aether, without sprint or mount. All the while, the only food buff is Sawdust Breadlaof (determination -30). If you see anyone with an AFK symbol on their chest, call a GM so they can be sent to the nearest camp. There is an estimated 6 million AFKers. Anyone helping AFK'ers will also be punished.

Well they wouldnt be an issue if SE would just implement a AFK system, plus i don't blame the players afking, they are paying to play, i know others want to get in but this isnt their fault its SE so if you want to burn someone or kill them i think you should point in SE direction.

Why would you log out? If you do, you cant get back in.

It'll be funny when this whole issue goes away on Wednesday and then all of sudden everyone will stop caring about "the AFK people". They will be too busy logging in and enjoying the game.

AFKers are A problem.
There are many more issues they're dealing with.

ok afkers not a problem? Wnen u have lot of them is not a problem? They are online but ak=fk so they dont play but they have place at server so is a big problem when server says "1017 server is FULL!!"

+ Unable to updateNA/EU !!?? because server cant respond. That means is FULL but not from players that play but stay AFK.

the problem is the reason people go afk. Fix the problems, and people will stop going afk. Right now, if you log out for a second, you wont be able to get in for many hours, do you think people are willing to wait that long when they can just stay afk?

No, AFKers are not the problem. SE seriously underestimated the number of people who were interested in this game. It's their fault, and their responsibility to fix it. That being said, this is a temporary situation, and people aren't helping by being selfish. We are all going through this same thing. It well eventually be resolved. But people could be more considerate of each other rather than making the situation worse. I always log off when I'm done playing. yes I have a hard time logging back on. But I will accept my fair share of the problems out of consideration for others.

A good solution is to make logging out a lot better than being afk. Just remove or cap rested XP from Aetheryte sanctuaries, and make it so you only get the full bonus by logging out in an inn. You can even improve the rested XP to 100% in this case. While it won't get all the afk people off the servers, it will reduce their numbers by a lot. If the rested XP is enough to save them half of the number of FATEs they'll grind the next day, that would be great.

It should help with FATE overcrowding, which is ridiculous in places like Coerthas.

although both sides of the medal are true. SE is certainly at fault if you're telling me that I can't get in the game because people are in the server and not because they are physically playing but because if they log out they can't get back in. This is quite the problem. An AFK system should've been put in place. A proper system to see which servers are good to go into also I hate that you can't see what is the population of a server. Plus why do we create a character before choosing a world you don't even know if you can log on said world. Right now I'm stuck not being able to play just because some basic servers restriction should've been implemented

Not gonna lie though I saw that wednesday is supposed to bring change but if the same things happen after that I'm not going to subscribe to this game. I will pay for a game that I can reliably play on ONE character not make new ones on different servers because the one I choose gets full :S

I definitely don't agree with the level of aggression the OP displayed; uncalled for and just ignorant.

That said, AFKers need to realize that you *can* log back in if you log out. It may take some time, but c'mon now, you can wait like the rest of us. And if everyone would stop being so afraid of not being able to get back in, there'd be less congestion.

If you're an AFKer, I understand that you personally feel "Well no one else is gonna do it, so I won't either." But the problem is mostly everyone has that same mentality.

There's selfishness on both ends here. The AFKers are selfish because they refuse to give up any potential playtime by logging out at night to free up server space, and those who want to get in are selfish because they're dictating how others should act to meet their own wishes. The only difference with the latter is that their selfishness isn't impeding anyone.

Considering you were the first one to use the term "concentration camp" in this thread I believe that distinction belongs to you great job.

The word "concentrate" has a million and one meanings that has nothing to do with camps yet you decided to go there. Excellent. A+. Then blame the OP for you reaching that conclusion A++.

Most of them seem to que up for a Duty as well since when it DOES manage to find a group, it usually goes through about 5 timeouts before finding somebody that's actually there and playing the game.

First, as painful as it is, some people do not logout because login these days is a pain in the ass, you can expect from 30 minutes to 6 or more hours trying to login so we can't really blame them,
but from a business perspective, you can't get rid of afkers, since since they will be paying a subscription 24/7 (excluding maintenance and crashes), from a business perspective you don't care if the people are actively playing or just being afk all of the time. Let's say those 6 million afkers are paying 14.99/month, that would be equal to 89 940 000. The problem is if you put restrictions, and those afkers do not like it, they could stop renewing their subscription which would cause a lower income to a business.

When they launched games like Rift, they started with an AFK system until the servers evened out. It worked amazingly. If those guys can do it, I am sure S.E can....right?!?

or...SE can just get bigger servers (like they said they are doing and going to install tomorrow)...that way everyone can log in anytime they want to and stay logged in however long they want to just like they have done in FFXI for 11 years...

ok i understand people are paying to play this game but you are paying to /play/ not paying to stay logged in overnight so that you don't deal with all the errors that the rest of us are getting because you don't want to.

Oh yes, the AFKers are the problem NOT the several thousand people spamming the login screen with scripting and macros to spam 0 for hours on end.

I have to disagree in they knowing how many persons to expect, they could have an estimate on bought items, but there is a problem, something they could not measure as much as they wanted, and that 1.0 players, these persons are allowed to just log into the game, and did not even have to order the game. The most they could have done is do a poll asking players if they'd be back, and let's be honest. not everybody replies to polls.

I agree, but since that does not seem to be their idea of a "fix", here is the alternative. I just really hope it gets fixed tomorrow.

This bad circle will never end as long as people are selfish and stay AFK.

Come server update, people will be paranoid and even if they log in instantly, they'll stay logged in "just in case it is hard to get in tomorrow", at which point the available connections shrink and fewer can play, which will make people stay AFK to avoid the problems and even less slots remain, until it is just the same as now, even though the issue is solved.

But at least SE have admitted that if the community does not shape up and keep ruining their servers, they'll add a afk-disconnect system that will force these out of the server, so that people can realize the queues are fixed. Just a shame we'll probably have to wait until the 15th, instead of having it solved tomorrow. Again, all to blame the AFKers.

There actually are not that many AFKers.
