Pets are all bugged!

Hello, its very hard to heal as a scholar without the Pet and the pet takes almost all the AOE's that are targeted in a zone cause she takes so much time to move.

In most aoes its ok because she doesn't even take a lot of damage because its a pet and because of that, thankfully, it takes only a percentage of the direct AOE damage, but in some bosses 2 aoes of those kill her, because they're made to oneshot everyone even with best gear.

And there are cases that are even worse like in The Aurum Vale the first boss puts a stacking debuff on the entire room that you have to get out clicking on fruits on the ground, well the pet isn't a player and can't remove them so she dies all the time and it gets near impossible to a scholar to heal that boss afterwards, at least with our current gear, but that's not fair.

Pets need fixing!

Agree that scholar pets die too quickly during the only times when they're actually needed.

Pets shouldn't be targetable by aoe or have massive aoe reduction like every other mmo.

It's for the children.

I feel like it is only a small portion of content where this is a large issue. It it vey easy to just have the pet follow you out of danger and I for one don't want the game to be dumbed down in anyway. Yes fights that involve interaction could be tweaked but we just need more time playing with our pets to learn how to effectively micro them.

Would like to see how you feel after fighting demon wall as a scholar.

I just want to order my pet to heal another party member WHILE i'm already casting a spell.

that's actually another point, pet control is very bad , i'm mostly spamming the heal but i notice that when im on GCD, the commands do nothing.

They do. Eos took the whole of 1000 needles, no buffs, took 200 damage.

As i said in mainpost, they do, there's just bosses that do AOE damage that does so much damage that even the pets die in 2 attacks, that sometimes happen in a row.

And they only move like 2s after you move, like the lag isn't enough.

and really, do Aurum Vale and then u understand.

Every other MMO? Almost no MMO has this. It already has more AoE reduction than most MMOs.
Anyways, yeah, I've noticed the issue of pets in a lot of dungeons I ran with scholars despite this, the fact that moving them out of AoEs seems difficult. Seems like there should be some kind of command to quickly bring them to you (with no GCD of ANY sort) so they can dodge with you.

In the Sunken Temple playing on summoner and scholar for the first boss there is almost impossible. Doom will one shot any pet. Its extremely difficult to get said pet to the plate with you. My team was able to do it eventually but it took several times and lots of re-summoning during the fight ._. I'm not going to do that dungeon as a pet class in the future.

I'm glad you mentioned Aurum Vale. That's currently the ONLY dungeon that as a SCH/SMN I feel incredibly useless. They need to allow us to remove our pets debuff when we eat the fruit. Ifrit/Titan are also obsolete choices on this map because of the yellow water, but there's still Garuda to get by that with so it's not as big of a deal.. but the fruit/debuff for pet needs to happen.

My point i was trying to make i feel is still valid. I have never seen a scholar successfully keep a pet alive in amadapor keep on demon wall past the first repel because while moving in and out of purple your pet literally moves after getting hit. Into the next lane just in time to get hit again even after you have moved back.

And as for the damage reduction. It should be higher because face it or not they aren't going to make the scholar have a higher skill cap by adding another pet ability to be used to dodge every aoe your character has to. That's basically moving two separate characters everytime you need to avoid aoe. It's not gonna happen lol. 2.0 is way too casual friendly to ever implement a feature like that.

It's hard as hell, to be honest. I feel like we're at a severe disadvantage compared to WHM here. Even if I spam Succor and use Rouse during the add pop, if you're in an average DF party, you're not going to be able to keep up. I've beaten it a few times, but I think I'm probably not going to queue there as SCH anymore because we tend to make things harder for the party rather than easier.

The first boss in Aurum is another fight where we are clearly the inferior class because there's simply no way to keep the pet alive there, and that just makes us a gimp WHM with half the healing power.

I kind of predicted this would happen. SquareEnix is not known to remember pets when they design content.

In almost all these situations, the masters actions should carry over to the pet. Like if you remove doom on master, the pet loses doom as well.

This would be the easy fix to Aurum's first boss as well. If the Master eats the fruit, the pet loses the poison too.

idk i just think, something like a instant pet summon with idk 5m(or more) CD can solve that, and not too harder to bring to game that, but just for scholar pets and inside a dungeon or instance that will be active and not for regular pets, because ppl can do bad things without that.

Not just the first boss, but the last one as well. My poor fairy had 6+ stacks of that poison on her from Miser and then literally exploded with debuffs and died. At that point it was all Scholar on Edge for me, hammering heals and leeches to keep people alive so there was no time to resummon her.

I've never been a particular fan of pet classes (except PUP) and so haven't taken one to dungeons yet but I have noticed others having this issue.
The morbol fruit one seems like a simple oversight that should be fixed easily. I think perhaps that in certain circumstances pets should benefit from whatever damage mitigation the player has. As to the positioning of pets I agree something needs to be done but hopefully when they fix it they don't over fix it. I have seen several sch/smn allowing their pets to suffer unnecessary damage simply by not staying aware of their position. Often they will stand just outside an aoe marker leaving their pet inside or I've even seen them run across an aoe marker trailing their pet inside and leaving it there.

Pet management is a thing, and insofar as the Pet AI is concerned, I know for a fact that Emerald and Topaz Carbuncle will drop what they're doing to flee a variety of AOE circles. When Faeries and Egis and Carbuncles get hit, they take something like 80 or 90% reduced damage from any AOE. For some bosses it doesn't matter, but thats what you have the place command for. (Pets also don't dodge Titan's Landslide and can be knocked off the edge and have to be resummoned.) The biggest fix for pets is to let us be able to give them command input while we're casting. It makes no sense that we have to wait til we're between global cooldowns to give our pets basic commands or activate their abilities.

This is especially problematic for Scholars who spend literally all of their time pressing some button or another to keep up with healing properly. It's fairly difficult to dodge, heal, pet heal and place/move your pet at present because we can't control it during our casts.
