Will not load my NA character/start button greyed out at login

I login and when the Menu that shows "Start,Opening cinematic, Config, etc" shows, it shows start greyed out 4 out of 5 times. It also won't load my NA character when I do get in, and only shows JP servers. I'm beyond frustrated, every single day since I paid for my collector's edition, I've had countless problems, being a working man that can only play a few hours a day, I can't play at all. It's getting ridiculous.

Not to mention the "free 30 day subscription with the paid purchase of the game" is being wasted because of this. Something needs to be done.

Wait until Wednesday to see how it works out after the update!!!

As for your 30 Day Free Sub, SE is considering add another 7 extra days on top of your 30 days as compensation, not 100% confirmed though.
As for your Start being greyed out, either wait for a few mins or re-log the game, it will fix the problem. The main problem, I think is on SE's server side due to being overloaded consistently. But it could be because of your Internet connection as well..

All of this, I hope it will be fixed after Wednesday update.

mayeb they are trying to solve problem of too many people trying to log in at the same moment with just denying any acces at all to game when too mnay people are trying to get in ? who knows hard to be shittier as it is atm - they coudl as well take all servers down so that people at least be on this same stage on wednesday - im starting to slowly stop caring about this shit -_-

Its beyond the server problem atm , theres people getting double charged, the whole issue with having 2 service accounts because they werent specific with instructions on how to add the key to your account, the support system being absolutely terrible I myself sat in a queue to talk to a person through chat twice for over and hour and half and twice at the end of the queue it told me there were no reps to handle my issue and then it just disconnected me oh and phone support i tried calling it last week 3 different days over 20 times each day and received a busy signal the entire time. Put in email support? Nah you get an email later stating because they have too many we have just closed your issue....sorry. And by sorry you get the blanket "We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding." <- So getting tired of hearing that how much understanding do you think i have left?? In short we need something other then 7 days added for all the problems and terrible situations we've had to go through.

If they didn't give some sort of compensation I'd just about bet people would quit. As for my connection being the issue, no, I play FF14 on the ps3, my pc is running right now, and I'm currently logging WoW and 3 other games at almost no latency. 50MB dedicated connection.

Refuses to load my character, all I get is "Unable to update NA/EU character list." As for the greyed out thing, yeah I can fix that by constantly exiting the game and rebooting, but why should I have to do that? This pains me more than most because I was late buying the collector's edition, and it cost me ALOT more than $79.99.

I feel your pain on the 80 dollars ive bought the collectors edition twice, once in 1.0 and then again for this apparently i didnt learn my lesson in 1.0 and came back for more.

I paid $160 for this online because it was the only way to obtain the collector's edition that I could find. This is just unacceptable.

I paid a bit more than a $100. If they give the 7 days back, I'll be ok and just consider this an early launch or stress test thing. If they give some cheesy item (especially one to be used by a Disciple of War/Magic class), I'd get pissed.
