How many AFK versus present players do you suppose there are?
gamers...8am....98%?
I'm tired of it too quite frankly. I'm liking the idea of kicking AFKers after 25 minutes, congestion would be so much easier to manage.
seriously lol woke up @ 6am and it was full... i'm fucking mad i'm laughing...
Its a holiday in the USA, so expect them to have this issue all day.
At least I managed to log in for about 10 minutes just now. Then of course it lags me for 25 seconds straight and boots me with a 90000 error. Now my Start button is greyed out, and if I sit on the main menu for too long it gives me a 2002 error and closes the client.
GG, was hoping I'd get to play today :(
Hey now, slow down. Login and play. Don't we have high expectation. One thing at a time.
20% actual players vs 80% afker .. :P
Yeah same, also if you dont have one put a one time password thing on your account because i got hacked yesterday and just noticed like 3 characters on dif world that i never created and lost about 90k gil (noticed the lost gil yesterday and i just noticed the 3 characters when i tried to make a new one so they were probably there from yesterday). Not even sure who i should contact and where to go for that
Well it is Labor day.
Yeah I'm a third shifter, so I'm up at ungodly hours. When I played last night (approx 12am-10:30am) for every one person I saw out and playing the game, there were literally twenty others idling in sanctuaries and cities. It was infuriating.
And you know what I did when I was done? I turned my computer the hell off. I knew that I wouldn't be able to play for another 24 hours, and while I could've kept my PC running the game all night, I couldn't do it in good conscience after seeing all those afkers.
Apparently someone is logged into the game on my account and it isnt me.....
It doesn't matter that its a Holiday. Its 9am and the servers are FULL OF AFK's!
Go to any Sanctuary and there will be 30-60 AFK's standing at the crystal, Not counting Inn Rooms and people just going afk in random spots the servers at all times probably have nearly 1500+ people AFK.
This really needs to stop. This game is awesome and I love playing it, but logging in hitting Num0 for hours or if the login server is dead like it was this weekend, is just as bad.
The Devs stating that the server upgrades are more important, and yes I agree its important, but ignoring this problem (And the community has made it a major problem) has made it worse, because there is no longer any fear of going afk out in the open for all to see because it has been stated its perfectly fine by the devs has to stop.
I hate it, But I know once I finally get in this morning, Ill also do it because trying to login for hours because everyone is afk is better than doing it AGAIN for hours.
FIX IT. AFK has now become a game mechanic.
this is like diablo 3 all over again. at least they had people answering players back. not just some thread that u cant even reply onto. where the eff are the mods? -___-
Well at least my lobby works now, too bad I'm already getting 1017 errors. Really wish the game hadn't kicked me out for no reason after 10 minutes, since now I won't get to play at all today.
Zem that doesn't make it right. For you to just go AFK. I think SE should have a program that kicks someone out of the game after 20 mins. Yesterday while I was playing I saw tons of people hiding in cracks between rocks, just hanging out the towns central crystal and also in sanctuaries just not moving. Then when I would come back to that locations after just exploring the same players would be standing in the same position and location. Now today I work in about 1 hr and I come back mid evening. I am hoping I can play when I get home.
That's my point though. SE has now made afk part of the game mechanics by saying "It's Okay because the real problem is the servers". It's a Lazy Excuse and made it justified for everyone to do it OPENLY. I hate the fact that people afk for more than 30min, and its why I replied here (I know no less than 60 people are AFK in Quarrymill on Behemoth), But im still trying to get in after 2+ hours, Do you think im honestly going to logout because I need to go afk at this point when this launch has been so bad and take HOURS to log back in if at all? No, And you wouldn't either, And thats my point why AFK is now a game mechanic. There is no way im logging when there is probably a 90% chance it will take me no less than 3 hours or NOT AT ALL to get back online for a game that should have a QUEUE system and BOOT AFK's. But its Open Season now that they have clearly stated its not an issue.
I love this game BUT, they have done a HORRIBLE Launch job, Pre Order numbers were through the roof, THEY KNEW the numbers they were going to get and still chose to IGNORE it. Im not going to suffer because of this incompetence on their part, It all could have been prevented. This weekend has been the worst with the Lobby Server dying with No updates on fixes other than them saying multiple times "We have successfully repaired the issue" when that was never true, If it was I wouldn't be getting Error 2002 every time I loaded the client right now
Nothing is Right, It needs to be addressed right now, The servers should come down for a patch for this afk issue, but its NOT going to happen, they have clearly stated that. Until the free month is up and half the people are no longer playing will we finally a huge break, but until then sadly its Open Season. I hate it, but its fact.
What is the shoe is on the other foot. I bet you wouldn't like it if you wanted to play and you couldn't get in because of the AFKer's. If other people do and can log in and not go AFK so can you. Just because SE is having problems with the servers doesn't make it right for you and others to go AFK.
cant even login now, this is so bs it kicked me for no reason, kick the afkers!
I understand there are issues but they are selling a product which will eventually start charging subscriptions yet there is nothing near a guarantee that you will even get to play. since when did playing a game become like hobby flying?
Welp guess waking up at 9am wasn't enough to login. Maybe tomorrow.
I thought things were getting better. The girlfriend logged in at 8:00 this morning and got in on the first try.
Yeah im sure its pretty high. Square needs to monitor inactivity and kick those players.
I'll be glad when the 30 day free trial is over and all those a-holes aren't able to pay. Makes room for those of us who really want to play.
I can't even see the na/eu server list this morning.. and yes the afk thing is a huge problem because I can't do that with my ps3 allday everyday and I'm sure others can't.. so were getting burnt by PC players doing that all the time.. fairness isn't everything but lets be real.. have world dumps every 12 hours of something give peole at least a shot at logging in.
My brother logged in on diablos on first try this morning. Meanwhile I cant even get past the start screen -_-
ban the afker's cause ive seen over on gamefaqs them being smug about afking and saying "i pitty those fools trying to login" the thread was eventually deleted but im gonna say most afker's know other people want to play they just dont give a s#$# >so i say slap the with either a temp suspension to see how it feels not to play the game for 6 days or just ban the lil kiddies till they have more consideration >10 years maybe
I'm now getting 1017 before I even can pick a character.
That is impressive.
I logged off Goblin at 5am EST, tried to log back in to just check, 1017 at 5am. Not sure why an idle kicker was never implemented. without it 1017 is going to take awhile to go away even with new servers.
Aye, I agree with you guys on the whole inactivity check / kick thing. I had came here to make it it was being brought up, thankfully it is.
In the previous Final Fantasy Online games, players got used to leaving their characters logged in because we had a personal bazaar of sorts that we could sell items from.
This game however has no such feature, and leaving characters logged in does nothing but tie up a connection slot. Now due to the login problems, players have figured out the servers don't remove them so they are more than willing to AFK and eat up a connection slot, only compounding the login issues. I can't say I blame them honestly, even though I'm usually on the short end of this stick not being able to login and play.
It needs to be fixed however: After 20 minutes of inactivity (no moving, no chatting, no interaction with the UI) the server should give that inactive player a 5 minute warning regardless of their set search status. Once the 5 minute window is up, that inactive player should be kicked off the server, back to the Character select screen.
75% player, 20% quad-boxer, 5% afker, 50% gold famer bc they hax mai percentz.
The developers said in previous posts that they will AFK kick. They are focusing on their wednesday maintenance first. Also, it's labor day so not a lot of people have work today.
I'm another one who is unable to even get past the start screen. After 15 seconds, an error 2002 window pops up & automatically closes the client.. sigh T_T Really discouraging since I played for about 12 hours yesterday with zero problems.
This may come as a shock to people that don't have a job, school, etc, but today is Labor Day which is a holiday, and many people that would otherwise be at those previously mentioned occupations are instead taking the day off. So effectively, you should treat this as a Saturday/Sunday in terms of the kind of day it is. It's not a typical Monday.
The one time code space is for the authenticator. Buy one. They are usually about 7 or 8 dollars. I have one on all my games and you run less chance of being hacked.
IMO I really think they should kick all afkers from the game. It is a holiday for the US but the holiday is not the issue. Kicking afkers would solve half the problem with the servers. And they should have someone running around zapping bots already too. I've been trying since 9am est and it's now 2 hours later and still 1017 or 2002 errors. But people seem to think that moving servers will help. In the long run it is only temporary if it works at all. If you got on a server to play with friends, you would want to keep playing with them. Otherwise, what fun is the game alone? So that means SE has to get entire groups to want to move. That simply doesn't happen because your friends have other friends who have other friends... etc. Copy one server to another server and allow people to pick which one they want to play on. People just don't want to start over again. I don't.
I guess my FF experience for my days off this week will be talking about the game, instead of playing it.
