1. Overall lack of voice acting, and abundance of quest dialog. I did not think this would bother me as much as it has. At this point I honestly find myself just spamming through any quest dialog there is.
To make it worse in most of the cut scenes there is not even any climactic music or anything. Usually just some motionless npcs popping out dialog boxes between themselves and your character. It feels like a step back into the FF7,8,9 era.
2. No VoIP - This may have little to no effect for pc users, but I am on ps3. I call my buddy and we plug in our headsets to the phone so it works for regular questing. But once we hit dungeons I fear we will have little means to communicate with our party members.

I thought, well maybe we can just skype, but it appears skype does not work on the actual ps3, just the psp and vita which I find odd. Without going out and buying a wireless keyboard for my ps3 I feel like I have little ability to communicate effectively with anyone besides my one friend on the phone.
3. Carbuncle Vanishing - I dont know why this is happening exactly, but it seems like my pet keeps getting caught in rocks, or behind trees and once I get to far away he just retreats. I can be sure, but I would assume this also happens with summons as well. Its a tad frustrating when I dont realize it right away and I jump into a fight, and have to spend the first 5 seconds summoning my pet with a giant bulls eye on my back. -

1. I agree to this but it's not a big issue since I can read and it still is a lot better than other mmos where you just get a window with tl;dr text ^^
2. should have thought of this before you got it for ps3, besides VoIP requires server bandwidth too so I'm actually very happy about it not being there
3. Pet AI needs an upgrade, but to be honest programming an AI isn't that easy but I'm sure this stuff will be made better over time -

1) I thought there'd be more voice acting, too. I still read every word of the main story and my class story, but pretty much skip over the rest. I'm not bothered by the quests having an abundance of dialog, I think it's great, I just have never been one to read why a person needs 4 pieces of dodo meat.
2) Other MMO's (DCUO) have tried this and virtually nobody used it. I think the future of MMO's will have built in voice, there are still many technical issues. I use a computer with skype or google.
3) Are you sure he's getting stuck and not getting attacked? I keep mine set to attack anything that I attack or that targets me and sometimes he'll run off to defend me even when I didn't realize I was targeted, I'd get too far away, and he'd vanish. I've never had him get stuck on a rock or wall or anything.

The voice acting in this game is by far the worst I've ever heard. It's like they pulled random people off the streets and got them to read from a piece of paper with the promise of being famous in return. No way those talentless "actors" were paid for that. I'm glad there's very little of it because it's just awful.

Honestly, VOIP on an MMO or any Multiplayer online game... NO. They have Apps to help you with that (PC / Smartphone / Tablet). They cannot offer the VOIP because they cannot MONITOR it with an Auto-filter. Too few people are mature enough to use it properly.

Voice acting's been hit and miss for me. There's some I like, and other voices I hate. The only voice I have to absolutely skip is Yda's (Gridania storyline). I haven't been that far along in the story though, so who knows what nameless horrors I might hear in the future.
As for the quantity of voice acting, I can only think of it as a cost-saving measure to match their expectations of a smaller launch. It's an understandable mistake given the game's history, but I hope they get better at predicting the playerbase in the future. Other than that issue, I think Yoshi and the team did a fantastic job at rebooting the game. That, and I agree the pet AI could be better out of the box. I've slaved them to macros though, so my problems with ai are minimal.
I also don't miss the VOIP as I usually run my own 3rd party program for it. It's unfortunate to hear the PS3 doesn't support it though as you'd expect more demand for it from console users without a keyboard. -

dude, just use your PC to voice chat. problem solved the PS3 doesn't run skype, because the PS3 already has a voice chat and text chat room feature. -

The Only issue I have with the voice acting is that the cut scenes that have it do not have it all the way through.
ON PC so use of Mumble team-speak and such works for me. It is also much more controllable than an in-game function. It also put less stress on the servers.
I have not had a problem with the Carbuncle vanishing excpt when Iget too far away. It does not get stuck on rocks or in trees.
