Is 7 days free really enough to compensate the many players who have had such a hard time trying to get to play the game they paid for? what does everyone think or suggest?

Yes

I think it is ok. They didn't need to give it either. Anybody who's played an mmo at it's launch know that this always happens, it always takes 1 to 2 weeks at least until the servers run smoothly.
Yup. People are still able to get in, it just might take a while. Even if the servers were fully down I would be fine with them giving us the days down as free days. I am very thankful they are providing a week of free time and as long as the server are basically fixed by Tuesday/Wednesday (whenever the actual time for the maintenance starts) all will be well on my end.
I mean i'm cool with it (if it gets sorted) its annoying i've not been able to login for nearly 2 days now but i saw a few arguments over people saying more free days or free gifts so i just want to see what the community thinks or could suggest xD
+ 1 free server transfer the offer is to be taken up within 2-4 weeks after the server problems are fixed ~ to account for people who either (a) had to join a server in their non-preferred data centre as their preferred data centre location wasn't available or (b) in the rush to get into the servers that were available ended up being on a different server to their friends, established shells or companies.
Yep. That should do it.
7 days additional play + 1 free server transfer.
Game goes live on the 27th. EA started on the 24th (I think?). A week after launch (plus a day for maintenance) the servers are worked on in an attempt to fix te issues. Then they offer a week (Hoping for a server transfer, but I'm wondering what that'll do for legacy characters) free in compensation.
Seems fair to me.
If people able to log in to the game without much trouble after 4th September, I think 7 days free is fair enough.
Yes, that majority of the server issues should be fixed within the next two days.
So you'll get seven free days to make up for the couple of days you couldn't play before.
General side notes*
I don't count early access days since it was before official release.
You may have pre-ordered to get early access but you didn't pay any extra for it so no you did not "pay for early access"
Potato
And if you think you should deserve something special because you couldn't play the first days it came out..get over yourself
just general notes, not pointed at anyone inparticular
Every time I see this topic beaten like a dead horse I only see this in the OP's

It's better than nothing. +1 free server transfer.

Mmm, I agree!
We had a hard 7 days and we get an additional 7 days for free, how is that anything but fair? In fact it's generous, considering how selfish people are being.
What bothers me more is that it's currently 6:19am in the earliest part of the NA region and my server is still full, what the hell? I'd like to actually play the game too..
I think that if you can be a proven afk-wh*re that's left your character logged in overnight (don't ask how I'm not claiming to be an IT technician like many others) then you shouldn't be awarded this free time. Most of us are paying for the game too and we have a right to our fair share of time on it.
No. Its not enough after all i had no other choice than trying to log in all day long, right? I think the only way to make this right is to add my name to their bank accout.

I don't mean to be rude but what about the consumers that have not played an MMO launch? Surely SE are looking to attract new players and customers, it's been stated in several Letters from the Producer. I'm really happy the game is doing so well and hopefully the general populous is satiated with compensation of 7 days + 1 free transfer, but that is a bare minimum offer.
The editor/PR person behind Yoshi didn't do a great job by using the word CONSIDERING giving 7 days. The rest of the statement was spot on, but omitting that word would have been better.
FF14 1.0 was my first experience of an MMO launch. I left. Totally different set of circumstances for ARR, I know.
Such a shame that this game is so amazing but the concurrent connections wasn't projected correctly. Maybe because sharing NA/EU means the servers are always on Prime Time. Perhaps a dedicated EU centre would have resolved this earlier?
I have my fingers crossed for Wed cause I am loving this game!
Damage was already done. SE should have had a dozen new servers ready to open immediately on release, and more within 24/28 hours, depending on the sales/server load.
This is not uncommon in the MMO world.
I agree that the 1 free transfer is not enough. They should stop the cheap thinking and let us move about freely for a month to make up for the crash they created on release.
SE did very poorly when they planned the hardware set up on this game. They could have reacted quickly and had a dozen servers overnight and cured the problem to show that they really wanted this game to succeed, instead of letting us go through a holiday weekend playing click the button.
The games Cue is non existent. Ive tried for hours trying to get in game, every minute, on 3 different worlds, and not 1 time got into a que. The Cue system is broken. Then, the next morning, I get into a que, with 2 players ahead of me. Whats up with that? They have people who are parked in the game for days now, I see them standing all over, never moving. SE can detect accounts logged in over 24 hours, auto kick the bulk of them so the rest of us can play. It is not reasonable that those people are actually playing for 24 hour straight, SE just ignores the problem.
I'm the director of a media company. Occasionally we F up. Some clients want the entire invoice written off while others are happy for us to write off only the portion that went wrong. You fall under the latter group and are probably very easy to work with, both sides are happy. With the former, you have to make projections on potential profit/loss. The Japanese are renowned for their business projections. They know they have created video game crack. Hence the 7 day offer. They may go back and recalculate after Wed and offer 30 days. But again, I wouldn't say 7 days is generous. It's really the minimum. Problem is they gave a number too early, better they just say compensation will be offered, please look forward to this. :)
