what if the servers were big enough and its all these RMT/Gilsellers? I get 5 tells and 2 shouts every 30 min with different player names. perhaps look for cracked versions of the client?

They're definitely a part of it, but I hope not a major part.
Just started seeing them in Ul'dah on Balmung. :T
it only takes a few % to = too much on servers. it adds up quick esp if cracked client adds code lines that are not supposed to be present...
I'VE GOT IT. I BET THE RMT ACCOUNTS HAVE A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF CHARACTERS ON THE SERVICE ACCOUNT. FILTER THEM!! COULD EXPLAIN THE DATA CENTER CRASHES. THE CHARACTER COUNT IS DISPROPORTIONATE TO SERVICE ACCOUNTS... IF IT TURNS OUT SO SQUARE ENIX COULD SUE THE RMT IN HALF CAUSING FEAR IN RMT FOR THE FUTURE... THEY ARE BLOCKING ACCESS TO SERVICES RENDERED... = BORDERLINE TERRORISMISH...
Wait I had a funny thought... Since none of us can login to our servers and the RMTs are running rampant eventually all the people on the server will be them... Does that mean they spam each other?
NOT REALLY THEY PROLLY PREORDERED EVEN, THEY LV TO 25-30 AND FARM THEY JUST NOW ARE HAVING ENOUGH TO SELL IS ALL
While I won't discount the RMT effect on each of the servers...I'd be more willing to bet, were I a betting man, that the majority of server congestion comes from those player's whom do not log out. Given that this game has no "inactivity" disconnect, that's where my money is sitting.
honestly the majority of the problem is NOT LOGGING OUT WHEN YOUR OFFLINE. Log out - let someone else play, if everyone did this we could all find time in our schedules, no matter work or school or both - to play and not wait days to log in.
think of it like this: 1 square enix account can have several service accounts which can have a crapload of characters each... i think that is causing the "unable to update characters" part
I have a solution to RMT: SE sell gil. Make a limit how much gil and how often an se account can buy gil. you'll make micro-transaction profits to recoup money from difficulties, provide a risk free solution, keep the economy under control, and help out those who cant play often enough to afford to keep up with their FC's, and RMT would have less reason to bog down servers.. who would risk banning for buying illicit IP if you can buy it legit? like 100k/3 months per SE account? I myself never have nor ever will buy gil though.
Reporting all rmt's tell that i got, hope they will be banned but they just going to pop up someone else. Sure, they are part of the problem, but the major problem is the afk ppl. If the server can handle 5000 users online at time, and anybody log off, it will be very hard to play, with or without rmt.
I just hope that the next maintenace solve it and they soon add the autodisconnect for afkers
