there is a queue system its just full when the queue system gets full you get the 1017 error.
Maybe they can meet up with the WoW devs on how to work servers, or start out sourcing to them
you do know they are upgrading the servers login servers and data centers they been working on it for a week and expected to be completed with a maintenance on the 4th. with the addition of 7+ days of free game time?
There is a queue, you just get 1017ed after you get in the queue :P

read those if you are still not happy i suggest you get a refund and get a clue while you are at it. WoW's launch was among the worst in MMO history. A month of server crashes, unable to log in, and infinite loot bug. Really wow is your comparison.
No, it's not that simple. I got into queue, I was #12 in queue, then I got bounced out with 1017.
There is something seriously broken here. The entire point of a queue is that it lets you, get this, "queue" people up so that they can be assigned available slots as and when those slots open up. The basic idea of accumulating the list of people (or things) waiting for processing, and taking them out of the queue as capacity becomes available (say, other tasks complete, other players log out) is literally the entire point of a queue. I would really, really, like to see an official post from SE explaining in actual technical detail how you could possibly implement a system such that you have a queue, but when you need to limit population, you can't have people wait in the queue. I program, many of my friends program, and so far I've not found anyone who can come up with an explanation for how you could build a queue that would need to error out like this.

This is how this works... Server holds 5000 people each. they are limiting how many people can be logged in on the server to promote stability of the duty finder and other similar systems. Second the queue system holds only x amount of players in it. When that queue system is full or overloaded you get the 1017. For the times you get in a queue but then get booted out after several min its because they have now adjusted the artificial cap on the server. So say they where letting 3000 people and 300 in queue. But duty finder system is under strain. To prevent the servers from crashing they throttle back to 2800 people. which then pushes those 300 people in queue to 1017. Obviously these numbers are just used as an example not real data.
The staff at Gamestop was explicitly telling everyone there is no refunds while people were picking up the game the day I went, I asked why he said many people had been bringing the game back trying to get a refund. Maybe you can with the digital version but not a physical copy
Please do explain to me how exactly I get a refund because I would love to. I already tried to cancel my account but of course the account management site told me it was down for maintenance. Also before you say take it back I bought the digital download but even if I did buy a physical copy a lot of stores do not give refunds on opened pc games thanks to pirating. The best most people could hope for is to exchange it for a fresh copy that they can't log into.
Why? Every other queueing system in the history of MMOs can handle thousands of players, because players in a queue consume no resources to speak of.
Right, but what's not obvious is... why would anyone, ever, limit the size of the queue? The users in the queue cost nothing. They aren't spamming login attempts, they're just waiting. It doesn't matter whether the queue is 20 users or 20,000 users. It's an ordered list. Spot opens up? Grab first person from queue. No spots available? Don't grab first person from queue. Doesn't matter how long the queue is. A longer queue costs a tiny bit more storage, but by "tiny" I mean "an 8086 with 640KB of memory could handle a 20,000 user queue".Quote:

digital copy is easy to refund there is actual link to where you can do it at somewhere in these forums.
@kitchen if gamestop will not give you a refund ask to see their refund policy. I know in america there is a 10 day return policy on all electronic games and software. If they refuse to give you are refund you can do a chargeback on your CC or bank account. If you payed cash i would call corporate office and explain the situation. You obv are not getting what you paid for the game in your eyes is defective and you are entitled to a refund.
Step:1 get store to give you a fresh copy unopened(do an exchange, say disk has issues in your pc/ps3 and push for an exchange even if they say it isn't defective)
Step 2 take it to another store try a no receipt and ask for store credit and there you have it you got a bloody refund :3
If the receipt you get shows no exchange done u can try for cash refund but highly doubt any company would do it; it may be easier to get in store credit.
Kind of scamming a system but hey it works. Also if you got the game from slave-mart(Wal-mart) it's even easier.
The above is for physical copies, now digital is whole another can worms i've never tried, but stop charge on your CC be easiest way to go about it and place services un-rendered meaning they didn't provide service you paid for.
Actually been looking for that ever since I saw your first post, it isn't there, just a lot of people complaining they can't get a refund. Also if you look at GameStops return policy it states that you can only return new games unopened. Even if you have your card company block it all that will do is delay payment. SE doesn't give refunds which is their choice so your card company will investigate it, see no reason to block payment and you will end up having to pay. Calling corporate will just end up with you being told sorry you're screwed. Your only true option is to bend over and take it.
its funny cuz i was in it, it said 21. Then it errors with "full" and i get 1017 and can't log in at all... So much for just "waiting in line"

that is entirely incorrect i have a cousin that works for Gamestop corporate and if you call customer support you will get a refund. And there is a mod post on the forums here with the support link to get a refund for digital purchased games from SE website. I my self returned my 5th copy of the game. I just cant find the link atm. But you can go to cust support page on SE account site and file for a refund.
