Petion for Server Rolling Restarts.

take 10-15mins Restart the servers in order to remove the afk people who are either Sleeping, at work, or just not even there because they know they don't get booted for being idle.

Lets open some spots up for players who actually want to play during the weekend before they have to go back to school/work, and don't have time to deal with this nonsense.

As much as I think this would work, I highly doubt it will happen.
Wednesday we shall see if the work pays off. Supposedly it will be fixed.

Last time I was actually able to get on I couldn't even count all the people standing around the capitol Aether Crystal. Esp. in Ul'dah and Girdania.

well after 2hrs and 26mins of repeated attempts I finally made it into queue.....Best of Luck to all, and I am still in favor of restarts even though I am finally in game. :(

Is there a reason they haven't done it yet? I'm not the most network savvy guy on the planet. Are they afraid that after the reset the sudden flood of login spamming is going to cause a nuclear-level explosion or something?

Good idea.

Periodic restarts at random times (so AFKers can't prepare for it) until server/capacity is finally fixed.

I can't see why that hasn't happened already, honestly.

The problem with a server restart to kick AFK players is this... Server Max is 5000 (Stable server limit, as stated in interview) - Say even 500-1000 are AFK and you have 4000 Players who aren't idle. You then would have 4000 people trying to log in at the same time. You would kill the Lobby server and thus create a whole new issue that already does arise from time to time without such things slamming it.

So while kicking AFK people may be a great idea, server restart in this condition right now would merely cause more problems and crash the server with mass log in from the players who aren't AFK.

Its kind of simple, they just do the server restart when its a prime time to be afk - During work and sleep hours US and EU time. That way people that log in before work will get kicked off and people sleeping will get kicked off. And ye there might be herp derps when servers go back up, but a simple queue will fix that. I dont care if i have to sit in the queue for 2hours ASLONG AS I GET TO SIT IN ONE AND NOT SPAM 000000000000000000000000000 ._.

A simple queue in FFXIV:ARR seems to be saying the worlds full and 1017'ing and never letting anyone on. The queue comes after they figured they have space, but with a crashed lobby server it wouldn't even get that far. If they expanded the lobby server to hold a large enough queue then yes, I would be 100% for a server restart a few times a day. I wouldn't mind sitting in queue for hours, at least it's better than trying for 14+ and getting on for a few hours and then that being my day...

If they did a rolling restart say at 4-5am EST when I highly doubt that many "Active" Players are on would be ideal. That way you wouldn't have a mass flood of login attempts and they would be staggered during the normal hours for NA. Also, the hundreds if not thousands of people running scripting macros in order to login without having to sit on the computer isn't helping the issue either. It's just causing the lobby server to become bogged down now as well esp with Error 2002 and 2025.

The game is fine...IDK why people expect a game (esp a MMO) to launch flawlessly. Yes it had its launch issues....they all do. Granted their Customer Support could of handle it better... but ppl in NA have to realize they are based in Japan...so their hours of operations for their HQ are not during our major uptime. They are taking alot of our feedback in and going to implement alot of new Quality of Life play changes in the next patch. (Example: Item Linking, and Auto Sort Inventory, etc.) Also here is a link to a thread they ARE monitoring about things ppl want to see in game please post ideas and suggestions, the Devs are actively in this thread relaying ideas http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...obvious-things

Who the hell knows. Shoulda been done already. I have been loggin in and out of Behemoth whole morning with no que's or whatever.
We still need AFK kicks, there are peoples afk in Gridania Aertheltyte.
