Reset the servers every 6-8 hours.
Perhaps you're right and I didn't think clearly in my moment of frustration but something needs to be done. Maybe they should just reset the servers every 6 to 8 hours. It may inconvenience active players but it'll boot the AFKers and give others a chance at playing the game.
Here's a better idea, SE should have just had working servers to begin with.
''something has to be done '' LOL so funny seeing these threads either login when u can or hope it gets fixed on sept 4th ive been locked out a bunch before but i know the best time to login in the AM
So, I'm not allowed to AFK to pee or eat or something? So if I do need to step away for a few, you want to put my name up here to harass me for stepping away?
This is a dumb suggestion. Way to alienate the community. If SE wanted the AFK'ers to stop AFKing for long periods, they'd implement an AFK auto-timeout, but since they haven't done that yet (and have plans to do it in the future) until that time, people are free to AFK even if it is a pain in the butt for others who actually want to play.
People who afk in game aren't in any violation of the terms of use. If you don't like it, you're just gonna have to deal. But starting a thread to rally up a pitchfork mob against people you see afk'ing isn't gonna do anything but create a bad name for yourself and resetting servers is just gonna create more player discontent than satisfaction. You'll get through it, you aren't the only one!
I fail to see how having to wait for several hours just to get into the game can be considered as working great. Your logic of the limiting log is like saying a car with only 1 seat and the other 3 missing is working great, but you can only have one person in it. No they are not working great, fact being on the first day I got the game, I couldn't even "make" a character due to the restriction they put on character creation, and it was affecting all the NA servers, I had to wait till pass midnight just to be able to make a character, not even a chance to attempt to log in.
So to sum it up, you're wrong, they are not working great.
Here's a suggestion I heard from a friend...apparently, in guild wars 2, when a server or something is full, players are still logged in but are entered into a dummy server or some sort and will just notify the player when there's a spot available in the actual servers . You can still solo quest and stuff except for dungeons...possibly option maybe? i dunno, but i kind of like that idea
The limiting logins is what is hurting the players. Perhaps not the servers, but definitely the players. It's not fair to wait for hours on end to try and get in a game I can safely say that a large group of people have been eager to play. I understand Yoshi's concern and wanting to avoid dead servers but I think from initial reaction from the community that he can add servers and not worry about ghost town servers. And I know that a lot of anger (mine included) is because we want to play a game we know is great but we can't because of the bottle-necking that is going on. Yes, I was in fault with the previous idea about the AFKers, I'll admit that, that is why I changed the stance to resetting the servers every 6-8 hours until Wednesday when the new servers are supposed to be up. But gaming gods help them if they get the new hardware up and there are still issues like the ones we are experiencing.
Hmm..well let's sum it up for you mr irony:
1. I have zero lag issues, no lag spikes no micro stutting, instances work flawlessly, NPC interaction has no delay.
2. I can hit "Free Companies' and 'Friend List' and it refreshes almost instantly.
3. I can see everyone doing what they do on their screen e.g someone interacts with the door I can see it as they do it. (it's obvious when there's a sync issue.)
So..yeah, the servers work perfectly fine - limiting log ins means it's limited in logins, not that the servers aren't working, so to sum it up again, you're wrong - they work perfectly.
P.S. Don't question someone's logic when you're not presenting something to counter it - everything you listed has nothing to do with faulty servers.
