This is absolutely ridiculous

Why, release a game that can't take stress on the servers?
You should realize that everyone at least buys the game, thinks it's either a good or bad game, keeps it or drops it after a month and goes back to their game of choice. Obviously servers are going to be packed up, I mean, I know. But a game without a queue based wait-time log-in. That's ridiculous, I mean, I have to sit there spamming my mouse/keyboard to get in, and it'll take me like 30 or 40 minutes.

I mean, the only other game this has ever happened to me in, was Silkroad Online.

I do agree, they really need to add a fully established que system. It rarely works and sometimes even if you get in que you get thrown out a few minutes later.

I just can't wait until they release new worlds wednesday, I think that's what's screwing people up.

Never had any problems getting in to the servers, had a "Your character is already logged in error" the other day but shifted in 10-15 minutes.

The problem is that there are so many selfish piles of digital poo who don't log out. The servers can handle a concurrent 230.000+ log-ins (per World/Server) at a time. I think that anyone who idles for 2+hrs needs to be given a ban (or placed in Digital Jail) depending upon their idle-time... and if they idle in the digital jail, it extends their time outside of play.

On Tuesday/Wednesday we are getting additional servers.

That and the fact people who are already ON servers, still have problems getting it.
This will only help people who can't play, period, or make a character to play.
I wonder about a fix for people who already set a server and can't friggi' log in at all.

They better provide free world transfers! I dont see people starting new characters when they are already 30-40... By the looks of things I honestly dont see them doing this though. We should also get a free month, this is total BS; for me, servers are down more then they are up.

That is a directly consequence of the login limitations, i think. There is no need for bans (or at least first it must be put illegal), it should be enough a server reset or some kind of control (30 min afk -> logout) as there is in almost all mmorpgs

Its this sense of entitlement that damages the humanity of a person. I think each account should MAYBE be allowed 1 Free Transfer (not 1/character) and that the demand for '30 free days' is stupid as they are already being more than generous by offering a free additional 7 days.

This weekend has been worse due to the US holiday. But I agree I cannot login anywhere. and then the start button gets greyed out.

Sense of entitlement damages the humanity of a person; How old are you? I expect to be provided or in the least reimbursed for what I purchased and am paying for. If the car that I rented breaks down I expect a replacement car; if my room in a hotel has bed bugs I expect a refund or to be moved to a different room infestation free.

I don't think we should insist on idle log outs, we just want to be able to play, SE could do that by either initiating idle log outs, or making the servers able to handle the load of not having idle log outs.
I see nothing wrong with being able to sit on the side of the street all day. Ragnarok online had that and I thought it was kinda cool.
(this is coming from someone who's internet goes out and has his own personal idle or no idle log outs)

Why do you want to be logged in when you're away at work or at school for hours? It doesn't make sense.. At least go log out in the inn to get experience. I think idle auto log out is an obsolete must.

Originally against AFKers, Im now seeing why they do it. I've hitting nearly 4 hours of not being able to get it. Error 2002, 1017, NA/EU servers down... I've seen anything except the Welcome to Final Fantasy:ARR log in greeting so far today.

Haha, well in the current state kicking AFKers out wont help as the pop limit is too low anyways any the queue system is garbage. However, if they kicked AFKers and actually made a queue system that works (increased the pop limit) I dont think anyone would have problems logging in.

And you are being reimbursed. 7 days. The game will have been live 7 days when they implement the additional servers on 9/3-9/4.

Didn't hear anything about being reimbursed; good to know!

Explain to me this; how is it that being upset for not being able to play a game, that was purchased, a sense of being entitled to more than what is expected.

They need to do something about the afk people on the server. They don't get kicked for being afk.

As much as I hate to say it, as it restricts my game play as well, logging in during low population time and staying afk is a strategy at this point. I cant get upset at them for doing it, but I can get upset at SE for not doing something to allow me to play a game I purchased when I want to. 7 extra free days is a nice start, but unless they offer free server transfers the addition of new worlds will not fix this particular issue. :(

The problem is that currently, that's the only way anyone can actually play during any kind of prime time. I'm almost never able to log in around 3-9 pm.

ALL servers have issues dealing with stress, that's why it's called stress. And they didn't release a game that cannot take stress on the servers, they released a game that just so happened to have more people then expected all try to join so soon. The stress testing during Phase 4 wasn't enough to ready them for this. They actually upgraded server load after phase 4 in order to handle more players, but they didn't expect to have EA topple phase 4 like it did. many people preordered after phase 4 ended, meaning that there were MANY last minute preorders. And upgrading servers like these, isn't something that is done at the flick of wand. If it was a mail server, no big deal, can be upgraded in less then 20 minutes. But these servers actually take much longer to prep.

And people, there is a queue, if you're not getting into the queue, its because the queue is too large.

I can be upset at them because of this behavior. By logging in and staying AFK for hours or days at a time they are refusing other people who would actually PLAY the game access to the game. They are going "Well MY $30 are more important everyone elses $30 that I'm preventing from playing because I'm more important than any of them." which is a crock and an insult. Sure, if they logged out there would still be 1017 errors but more people would be able to rotate in to access and enjoy their game but are unable to because of these selfish schmucks.

I love how none of you, ever get pissed about the fact that it's the bots, and gil sellers that are clogging things up, not someone who left to go take a dump, or eat. There are not that many "afkers" as you guys seem to think there are.

That is human nature. Politeness is a dying art and no matter how the select few still think of others there will be more who don't. I try to only worry about what I can control or I would lose my mind :p
