Another day, another 1017/2002

So there I was, early this morning, just a happy little camper. I was able to stay logged in over night and could play as soon as I woke up this morning. I was trotting along and then my client crashes. So now, once again, I join everyone in fighting the 1017/2002 NM!

EDIT for two reasons: 1. I knew within the first few responses I would get trolls talking about how "I should log out when I'm not playing" even though they know damn well that once they get logged in they will not practice what they preach.
2. It seems now there are errors with the launcher. See the screenshot below:

It's pretty unfortunate, but what else did you expect? We've been having these issues throughout the week, and now it's the weekend. So those issues are even worse.

I hope that much of this will be alleviated on Wednesday.

I log out when Im done playing myself, I rather lose game time then being part of the problem.

I'm getting 1017's before I can even select/see my character so, lots of 2002's as well. bummer, this is my day off

I know it doesn't help if I say this but....we have to be patient(again) and wait for what Wednesday brings :-)

Wrong, most people do log out, even the ones who "preach it"
Not everyone is like you, a game isnt the Pinnacle of their lifes for most people.
I have been logging out every time I DO get to play and considering I only made it to 21 since beta.. it hasnt been all that much.
Heck till today I didnt even bother to post on the forums.

this is so fuck up...only able to log in at 11:00Pm on most night..
:(can't do it any other time....then only got an hour to play before get ready to bed for work...

I don't know what self entitled planet you come from, where your personal access at anytime is more important than that of anyone else ever, but if you knew anything about peak hour distribution curves, then you'd understand how truly selfish you and every other AFKer really are. There are times when lots of people log in, and there are times when fewer people log in. When you plot these along a graph, you see a curve pattern, that reaches its maximum at what are called "peak hours." This is when the most people are logged on at once. If that number reaches the maximum number of connections for a server, then no one else can log in. However, one will probably be able to log in during a non peak time, once those who are done playing log off and traffic moves toward the valley in the curve. And considering time differences, the distribution softens a bit based on variable peak times. Anyone who's seen the old Vana'diel Census reports knows this.

What you and your ilk seem to not comprehend, is that by not logging off, you are artificially extending peak hours for the entire duration of the graph, meaning that people who should normally be able to log in during a non peak time can no longer log in at all.

The argument that blame is entirely with SE is partly faulty because while they do need to create more server space, there is no issue preventing people from logging in. The issue is that there is not enough room, and this issue is exacerbated when people refuse to make room.

So don't come in here with your righteous anger and expect sympathy when simple math shows that you are the cause of your own problem. And don't you dare call me a liar. You know nothing about me, and thus are completely unqualified to levy such an accusation at me.

Maybe you should sit there while you spam the login button and hope that some other player shows the same kind of moral maturity that you are apparently lacking.

I went through the hassle of creating and setting up a forum account just so I could Like this.

This is silly. I log out every day and manage to play every day. Sure I have to spam login for half an hour, but who cares? Its just an extra half hour, which is much cheaper and much better for my bandwidth than leaving a game running 24/7. Really this whole "stay logged in overnight" thing is silly, and these are probably ppl encountering the most errors. Its not good for your machine, nor for your network; have fun getting throttled to death by the end of the month.

Got kicked out of the game and im getting 1017/2002 for one hour now.

Haha, me too. I just wish I could give more than one like~

All I see is AFKers constantly putting the blame on SE for the server congestion, and that they are in no way, shape or form, a part of the problem. Sorry, but that's like dropping and breaking a vase you bought, and then blaming the potter who made the vase for not making it more stable.

And the whole "I payed for the game, so I'm gonna make sure I can play it" thing is getting really old. Yes, you bought the game. So did the thousands of people who can't get get in at all. You aren't any more entitled to play than the rest of us.

And don't assume that people don't practice what they preach. From what I can tell, most of the people who get upset about AFKing are the ones who regularly log out, myself included~ Why else would we get annoyed by it if we didn't have to deal with login errors?

It's already been stated twice now by Yoshi that the reason the servers are having so many issues is because of the amount of concurrent users. I'd really love to know how many of those users are afkers to know if the afkers are the ones causing all these issues.

Also, don't give me the "If the servers were fixed then we wouldn't have to afk in game" BS, how do you know that if everyone actually logged off when they stopped playing we wouldn't be having any server issues at all? Maybe the reason why the JP servers aren't really having as many issues as the NA/EU is because of their lack of entitled gamers who think they need to be logged in 24/7 just in case they can't log in the second they get on their computer?

Um... I do log out every time I finish playing and have to fight the queue/server full issue for some hours each time. Just because you exhibit a certain behavior doesn't mean everyone else will do it.
